Loki (Disney+ starting June 11): MCU fans assemble!

Loki starts on Disney+ on June 11!

I know it’s a way away but I thought I’d start a thread for pre-amble pondering discussion seeing as Falcon and the Winter Soldier is over now and we no longer have a weekly MCU fix for a while!

Sometimes I’m wary of trailers, I don’t like to know too many details in advance, but this is good, it doesn’t spoil anything just nicely teases the theme and tone, and looks to be some good chemistry between Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson.

I really like how WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and now Loki are all so different in feel.

Oh and if you’re not a MCU addict want to catch up with the story so far, then this article lists which movies to watch beforehand (nine of them!!!) but really, you could just watch two - the first Thor and Avengers movies, and then jump to Loki from there and you’d be in the same place as our protagonist. It’d be really interesting to hear that perspective actually!

I don’t have children, but have seen many times on here people recommend common sense media as a good resource for assessing age appropriateness of various things: here is their overview from a few years ago on MCU in general www.commonsensemedia.org/blog/marvel-age-by-age-guide and they have in-depth reviews of everything which advise you of any particular issues that might be relevant to you.

They say 10+ for Wandavision and 11+ for Falcon & Winter Soldier btw

The Mandalorian is a fabulous series too . In fact it’s the reason I got Disney+ as we’re both Star Wars fans.

The Mandalorian was some of the best TV we've seen in a long time. Even down to the art work in the end credits.

Whilst I'm waiting for Loki to start, I decided to have a look at Starwars The Bad batch. Is anybody else watching?

@NurseButtercup I watched the first couple then decided I needed a refresher on Attack Of The Clones, The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith for maximum enjoyment. So I rewatched Attack of the Clones. Omg. What a dreadful film. How they managed to do so little with so much potential is beyond me.

Has anyone watched MODOK? It looks super weird.

I was listening to a podcast last night and apparently it’s already pretty much confirmed that Loki won’t be just a one-off series, but it’s already planned to have multiple seasons and link in much closer with the MCU movies ongoing.

@SquatBetty I find TH as Loki spectacularly unattractive, I can't see the appeal in the least. He was pretty hot in Kong Skull Island, shame it was so rubbish.

I only managed two episodes of the bad batch, it's not a terrible story arc, I just can't do this style of animation.

I am silly excited now. My big MCU watchthrough feels really sidetracked from the main film storylines now with Inhumans, Punisher, and I’m craving “proper” MCU, meta references and all.

I wonder will Inhumans be drafted into the MCU canon with the Ms Marvel series, or will they just gloss over her origin story. I know they had inhumans in AoS but it doesn't really count.

Roll on Wednesday, I’m more excited than DS(12). I’ve been watching the many short interviews Tom has done and laughed a lot at the one where he essentially says if you fancy Loki you could do with some therapy. He’s right, Loki hasn’t a clue who he is or where he fits in. He’d be a nightmare.

How can they retcon Agents of Shield out of MCU canon, really? There’s crossovers of both storylines and characters.
