Loki (Disney+ starting June 11): MCU fans assemble!

Loki starts on Disney+ on June 11!

I know it’s a way away but I thought I’d start a thread for pre-amble pondering discussion seeing as Falcon and the Winter Soldier is over now and we no longer have a weekly MCU fix for a while!

Sometimes I’m wary of trailers, I don’t like to know too many details in advance, but this is good, it doesn’t spoil anything just nicely teases the theme and tone, and looks to be some good chemistry between Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson.

I really like how WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and now Loki are all so different in feel.

Oh and if you’re not a MCU addict want to catch up with the story so far, then this article lists which movies to watch beforehand (nine of them!!!) but really, you could just watch two - the first Thor and Avengers movies, and then jump to Loki from there and you’d be in the same place as our protagonist. It’d be really interesting to hear that perspective actually!

So I've finally got round to finishing the first episode - tried to do a group watch with DS at the weekend which failed and then he went and watched it himself but only told me last night!

I thought it was excellent - loved the styling like lots on here. Did anyone else think the documents etc in the end credits reminded them of Scarfolk?!

I did not expect the Minute Men (?) killer to be another Loki variant. I foresee Bad Loki Variant to pretend to be Good-ish Loki Variant in a future episode!

Oh definitely be bad vs goodish Loki which is what we want really 😄

Tom is an Exc producer so I think it's a bit of a vanity project but that's fine we will love it anyway.

I noticed he was exec producer too. I watched a Vanity Fair (I think?) panel discussion with Tom Hiddleston as well as all the leads from WV and FATWS, and they were all teasing Tom that apparently whilst they were all filming their shows, Tom lead a “six hour symposium” on Loki for all the production staff. It definitely came across that he knows the character inside out and cares deeply about getting it right!

Was fun watching all those actors playing the same character.

I liked Loki in the films but I’m really liking him in this tv series

He has wit, sarcasm and good humour. All which is missed sometimes in the films or at least not shown enough of

It was a bit slow but I enjoyed the sequence at the end, and TH is charismatic enough to carry it. Loki is still a murderous wanker though, always will be. That's my big stumbling block for this programme. Its like them doing a Thanos miniseries.

They have my attention. Hiddleston and Owen Wilson have a lot of chemistry.

I'm disappointed that the woman isn't actually a genderbent Loki though.

I'm thinking that the end game has to be taking down the TVA, that they are of course an evil empire of sorts.

P.s. I'd actually like a Thanon miniseries. OK, he was a murderous monomaniac, but I thought Josh Brolin did a brilliant job of making him more than that, and someone who had a sincere moral compass of sorts, even if it pointed due Crazy.

Just rushing in without reading anything above to say Tom is reading the CBeebies bad time story next Friday!
My DC have grown out of CBeebies but we loved Supertato growing up (and obviously it’s Tom!) so I’ll be recording it

It's weird. Tom as Tom, like in that cbeebies promo, does absolutely nothing for me. Give him a greasy black wig and green leather and I'm all in!

Just watched it with DH. I kept shouting at the tv to stop teasing me and show me who variant Loki is.
