Yes it should probably be in telly addicts - but Aibu to think Katie Price has really done a great thing in doing this documentary.

I agree yes I thought the same thing

cheeseisthebest · 25/01/2021 21:46

I agree. Such a lovely lad and she is amazing. The love between them almost made me cry. Really thought it was a great documentary. Must be incredibly hard and challenging. (A massive understatement I know.)

2021namechanger · 25/01/2021 21:48

Had dh and I going from welling you to laughing in seconds - and Harvey looked so incredibly happy at the college - I really hopes she secures a place there.

Yes I agree it was really good, that final college looked perfect, hopefully he'll get a place!

Standrewsschool · 25/01/2021 21:52

I was abit aghast at the cost though.

2021namechanger · 25/01/2021 22:01

@Standrewsschool it’s the care and staffing required I’d imagine.

I didn't see it, but I used to work with older AS teens of which some invariably needed residential care.
It was always heartbreaking to see the shit parents put themselves through over doing what was almost always the right thing for their child.
I found a good many were also single parents, the pressures faced tended to destroy marriages so you often had mum, a 5ft 2" rake thin woman with a 6ft, frequently violent teen who couldn't cope at all and dad who'd pop up occasionally then not bother for a few weeks.

It was bloody hard for them and I applaud their selflessness in making what must be the decision of a lifetime. I'm not a KP fan by any stretch but she's always been devoted to Harvey. All the best to them and I hope harvey is happy and settled in his new life.

Imiss2019 · 25/01/2021 22:54

Only caught the last 15 minutes but will watch the rest on iplayer tomorrow. I’m really pleased she did the documentary and yes they have a beautiful relationship. It made my heart melt to see Harvey go from not wanting to visit college to just beaming with happiness.

WithASpider · 25/01/2021 22:56

I was very impressed. Said to DH, no matter whatever other choices she's made in her life, she's always been front and centre for Harvey.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/01/2021 22:57

She’s a fantastic mother to Harvey, their bond brought a tear to my eye. The struggle, the post code lottery for help- broke my heart. So glad she’s shining a light on the issues.

Thornrose · 25/01/2021 22:59

I can't watch it just yet as it will bring up a lot of difficult memories. I made the decision to send my daughter with autism to residential college 100s of miles away from home. She is an incredible mother to Harvey.

VestaTilley · 25/01/2021 23:04

I thought it was a very touching documentary. She comes across as a devoted mother and very loving lady.

VVKills27 · 25/01/2021 23:07

Excellent documentary which really captured Harvey’s personality so well - the love between him & Katie is so strong, the have such a lovely bond. It made me well up a few times. I hope Frankie (makes my blood) Boyle & other revolting trolls watched and took note.

CountryBlumpkin · 25/01/2021 23:08

Harvey is the talent in that family.
Dwight might be able to kick a ball, Harvey can take over the world.

Fieldofyellowflowers · 25/01/2021 23:17

There are lots of things that I don't luke about Katie Price, but there is no doubt that she is a brilliant mum.

KP has always had a fantastic relationship with Harvey. She should be very proud of him.

I had a little cry when I watched it.

Their bond is amazing.

She has done an amazing job with Harvey. From him being diagnosed and told he wouldn't be able to do anything for himself, to nurturing him to the person he is today is fantastic.

He is so funny and extremely loving and you can see from other shows how much he loves his siblings, and they love him back.

I hope they get the place they want.

RJnomore1 · 25/01/2021 23:33

I’m mildly uncomfortable with him being so much in the public eye when I’m sure he doesn’t have the capacity to consent. There must be other ways for her to raise these important issues without parading him on tv for an hour.

Exactly!

I heard Frankie Boyles recent interview with Louis Theroux and was really disappointed that he glossed over his disgusting ‘joke’ about Harvey. He has never apologised for it. I wonder what his son and daughter think of him. I’d be ashamed to have a Dad who could be that cruel to a disabled child and his family.

I love how polite Harvey is. He has a lovely voice too. I really hope he and Katie Price find the right place for him.

wlv12 · 25/01/2021 23:38

I loved it.

Facing similar decisions in 3 years and loved how KP handled it - am not a fan of hers normally.

Not a fan of her at all but it was very moving to watch. Weird no mention of his father at all- is he not involved?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 25/01/2021 23:44

Care is incredibly expensive. Even for "just" frail adults, it's £1000+ a week.

I thought it was a lovely documentary. A lot of people will have gained their first insight in to the challenges faced by disabled people as they fight for their rights, and that's a very good thing.
