Yes it should probably be in telly addicts - but Aibu to think Katie Price has really done a great thing in doing this documentary.

She uses those kids to make money, she could raise awareness of his medical issues in. Million ways that don’t involve parading him on tv.
I don’t doubt she loves him and all her children, but her version of parenting is weird.

Some people need to see it to believe it.

It was eye-opening. Harvey's behaviour alternated as if he was two different people - either kicking off or being so ultra polite and endearing. It must be so difficult to watch your child banging their head against a wall.

It is like Katie is such a contradiction too. A good mum in some ways and a crap one in others.
I am surprised, considering he was her first born, that she went on to have so many more children, given that his behaviour is very challenging. I'm surprised she has had time to be able to go away on so many holidays without him. I also wonder why, considering the millions she has made (and squandered), she hasn't ensured that she provided financially for Harvey's future.

I only saw a bit of the program but thought how lovely and well mannered Harvey came across.

She's a great mum to Harvey. His absent by choice father should be ashamed.

I thought She came of well and looked like they have a good relationship , can't see where people get she palms him off etc , where do you have the proof she does this?

How low can she go? Using her child to make money for her is disgraceful. Children should be out of the limelight and protected - always.

Proof is in the almost constant holidays and breaks away she has (and always has had) without him, travelling around the country, staying in hotels or with whoever the latest future husband is (until inevitably they dump her...). Harvey doesn't know his dad, when he's not with her (most of the time) and not in residential care he's left with a variety of other people, some qualified, some not. Her mum used to be his main carer but she has ongoing health problems and now lives abroad so hasn't looked after him for some years.

Harvey has no capacity to consent to being filmed. Whilst I'm sure the documentary would have been sympathetically filmed and mindful of his needs, her usual 'output' via Instagram/ YouTube is very much not - unless you think it is appropriate she films him partially dressed, confused or upset. Again, none of which he has capacity to consent to.

This has become a very tiresome "thing" on Mumsnet recently, where people constantly demand proof and links in order to discredit someone's post or opinion.
In this case, erm, how about all the Instagram and YouTube posts she makes, where Harvey is nowhere to be seen? It's well-documented that she went off to Turkey on holiday just days after he was discharged from "ICU" (the inverted commas are because he was reportedly in a hospital that doesn't actually have an ICU, but anyway, let that one pass).
Then she went away with Carl for three weeks to the Maldives. Then, just before Christmas, she was back in Turkey again.
There are plenty of photos and videos ostensibly taken at weekends (when presumably he is not at his residential??) where he is nowhere to be seen.

We need celebs to raise awareness about much of a struggle it is when young people with additional needs make the transition to adult hood.
The painful choices and lack of provision is disgraceful. Councils are struggling to pay and parents have to send their children miles away for the right care.

I agree also that rather than pissing her money up the wall for years, her priority should always have been ensuring a ring fenced trust fund for Harvey. He's unlikely to ever be able to work or live independently, so his lifetime needs should have come before pink horseboxes and the like.

His father paid regular (and apparently generous) maintenance for Harvey til he was 18, but KP likes to keep that quiet as it doesn't fit the narrative.

It's a shocking insight into the dilemmas which parents like Katie face. The concern about sectioning was particularly scary. The shots of Katie with two broken feet and Harvey showed how easily he could hurt her, or the other children.She's done a remarkable job bringing Harvey up.

I haven't watched this evening's programme yet, but did it make clear which local authority is responsible for funding his care? Because for many years, Katie lived in West Sussex, before moving to Surrey last year. Most recently, she is now living with Carl in Essex.
Where is Harvey based "officially?"
I can just imagine each one of those Authorities possibly attempting to pass the buck onto the next one.

I’m not sure about Katie’s parenting choices and priorities (endless husbands and half siblings and chaotic lifestyle) though she obviously loves him and seems to be making the right choice about residential care.

However I do strongly hope that his feckless millionaire father will be contributing to the incredibly large costs of his son’s care.

I don’t think Katie Price is a particularly good mother to most of her children, however I would say she is very much a good mother to Harvey. Perhaps because his medical conditions mean that outside elements are essential.

Absolute bollocks that his medical conditions are her fault though. Re Dwight York, he has never actively played a role in Harvey’s life, but I think he has always contributed financially.

@Grenlei, what narrative? That Dwight is useless as a Father? If the cap fits and all that. KP has said that she got maintenance for Harvey.

She denied for years Dwight Yorke made any financial provision for Harvey. He hasn't seen him for years, however that was mainly because it suited Katie for him not to (particularly once she was with Peter Andre).

All her other children live mainly with their fathers. Her decision to move to Essex (which seems financial more than anything given her ongoing bankruptcy proceedings) is just distancing herself from all of them further. But of course when baby no 6 comes along she'll have that to entertain her and monetise instead

I think its fair enough to ask for a source of information if you are making a claim and stating it as fact. Although I agree that in this case you would probably only have to look at her own SM platforms to find some of the info.

I did feel like the programme showed a different, more calm side to her though, and how she handled his behaviour.
I know they only showed a small part but I felt slightly uncomfortable about the filming partially showing him in the shower.

I believe also that Dwight paid Katie's mother Amy to look after Harvey for many years.
