Yes it should probably be in telly addicts - but Aibu to think Katie Price has really done a great thing in doing this documentary.

I thought this doc was brilliant. They both came across incredibly well.

It was nice to see Katie's support network of other parents in similar situations. I'm so glad she has that.

@CottonSock - our funding For residential college was turned down (the education part, social part was agreed) The LA put us through nearly a year of hell. The only way they could try to get out of it was to say he’s needs could get met in social care - which is unlawful. They had no case, we spent thousands and thousands in legal fees for them to concede a few weeks before tribunal. I’m positive it won’t happen in thus case as it would be all over the news.

I hope Harvey gets a place and funding. It’s been a game changer for my son.

Not seen it, but I always thought the measure of the woman was how she put the lad first and managed a career. Any trolls should hang their head in shame

I have a new found respect for KP after watching this. The bond between them was lovely and Harvey is so well mannered and polite.
She really does come across as an excellent mum.

@pinkmarsh. I don't disagree that he deserves the funding. My comment was related to her using media and influence. An option that is not available to everyone.

Pinkmarsh · 31/01/2021 11:44

@CottonSock - yes I know, that just saying I think it will help. I don’t think the LA would date do what they do to most families knowing that it would end up all over the news.

It was too close to home for me to watch it. But I can't say I blame Katie for seeking love. It's incredibly hard raising a child/adult with additional needs. To do it by yourself? I couldn't imagine it. That she has to keep herself in the media could be because she needs the money to raise her kids. Any parent with a child with additional needs knows that it's not like they will ever be independent. The financial responsibilities never end. Even where the cost is borne by the local authority, theres always the chance they could pull the plug. And then what?

Thisisworsethananticpated · 31/01/2021 16:10

However she has over many years chosen to spend a lot of time away on holidays and jaunts with the latest bloke or some of her other kids

I’d assume she left him with a trusted carer ? I can’t get riled about this , yes most single parents can’t manage this.

I’m in no way a perfect enough a parent to ever judge her

Wish you well on your next chapter Harvey

@Teenageromance

I loved this - I would say KP has a natural knack with children with disabilities - you could see it not just in the way she interacted with Harvey but when she met all the mums and their adult children. It really was quite marked the way she can speak in a direct but non patronising tone. In Harvey’s interactions with people she didn’t over talk for him or try and overly manage the situation (I know I do this with my son). It’s really quite subtle to get that balance right and to have a completely non judgemental attitude and I thought she was amazing at it.
I agree
NonCisWoman · 31/01/2021 22:15

I trust those slagging KP off for having a holiday without Harvey are similarly critical of Dwight Yorke every time he goes n holiday without Harvey (which for DY is EVeRY holiday! )

Yes I agree too. I saw her with Harvey in one of her reality series years ago. She had taken him to a meeting about a range of kp bedding or some such product. She managed to choose her samples and supervise Harvey in this really lovely unapologetic way. Like her attitude was 'I'm bringing my high needs child to this meeting because he needs to be with me but I can still get the job done so don't assume I'm apologising for him'. I was so impressed and I was going on at people about that footage for a long time afterward.
