Yes it should probably be in telly addicts - but Aibu to think Katie Price has really done a great thing in doing this documentary.

Yes I enjoyed the Harvey / Katie, programme, but was wondering if Katie still has a man in her life, to help with Harvey and the other children. I don't mean Harvey's father, but a boyfriend as such, as I have lost touch with her men friends now.

Thefeep · 26/01/2021 01:01

@Standrewsschool - my son’s college is near to £200k. They are highly specialised placements with ongoing therapies, daily speech therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy etc. . And of course the Cost of 24 hour care on top of the education costs. In our case there are 9 young people In the house and always 9 plus staff On duty.

grassisjeweled · 26/01/2021 01:02

Yeah, Where's Dwight in all this? Never a mention of him.

Say what you will about KP, at least she's actually been present.

@CallmeAngelina - the LA where he lives With his mum will be responsible for the fees. My son is at residential college in another county but the LA where we live cover the fees (reluctantly I may add!).

Grenlei · 26/01/2021 01:06

Apologies I meant to say residential college rather than care, but clearly it will be highly beneficial to Harvey which is great.

Her younger children definitely don't live with her though. They live primarily with their father, and stay with her at most a couple of times a week. She manipulates her social media as referenced by another poster above to try and make out they are there often, in reality they're not.

Quaagars · 26/01/2021 01:06

@CallmeAngelina
The kids don't "live with" both parents. Junior and Princess live with Peter, and Princess sees her mother some weekends and occasionally after school; Junior less often. Jett and Bunny live with Kieran and again, see Katie for visits.
Katie manipulates her Social Media postings to make it look as if they are there more often than in fact they are
How would you even know that? Do you know them in RL?

CallmeAngelina · 26/01/2021 01:07

Thefeep, "He’s going to a residential college, very different."

Well, actually, he's going nowhere just yet. The National Star College in Cheltenham that Katie has been championing put out a statement recently that said that it was all in the very early stages and it would need to be ascertained that they could meet Harvey's needs and would be the right fit for him, and there were numerous other hurdles to overcome in the meantime also (re funding, I think).

Thefeep · 26/01/2021 01:08

@Grenlei - a trust fund for a child with profound disabilities is a stupid idea. They will always have to pay for their own care. He’d never benefit from the money.

Our specialist SEN solicitor advised us against that for our son when we wanted to do it.

You know this how?

In all honesty even if that's true I don't blame Katie.

Having Harvey must be a bloody hard shift.

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/01/2021 01:09

Whatever the truth about Katie's parenting is I heard her interviewed on Women's Hour and think it's really important for someone in the public eye to highlight the reality of having a child with severe disabilities and having to plan for their future.

CallmeAngelina · 26/01/2021 01:09

"How would you even know that?"

Check out her Instagram. It's very easy to see. Long hair, short hair, blonde, brunette, red nails, yellow nails, glittery plaster casts, air boots - all jumbled up and out of sequence.
And the snow day I referenced above, from yesterday.

Thefeep · 26/01/2021 01:10

@CallmeAngelina - yes I know that. We’ve been though the exact same process. So of course they need to make sure they can meet need and then the LA have to agree to fund it. Just pointing out that It’s not residential care.

charlestonchaplin · 26/01/2021 01:10

She likes to make out how much she does for Harvey but the sad reality is she's been palming him off for years to other people

Many people palm their children off on others, even little babies. It’s called childcare. Is it alright when middle class people do it, but not jumped up working class trollops?

What has any of this got to do with her care of Harvey?
CallmeAngelina · 26/01/2021 01:11

"Having Harvey must be a bloody hard shift."

Yes, but remember that for the last year or two, Covid notwithstanding, he has been at a residential school in SW London during the week.

Last year or two. Right.

Harvey is how old?

CallmeAngelina · 26/01/2021 01:12

"What has any of this got to do with her care of Harvey?"

Absolutely nothing. But it came up earlier on the thread and I was responding to that.

bitheby · 26/01/2021 01:13

I know nothing of Katie's living arrangements or Instagram exploits but as an autistic person myself, I thought she dealt with Harvey's behaviour in an exemplary way. I don't think anyone who spent their life 'palming him off', would be able to de-escalate so skilfully.

Thefeep · 26/01/2021 01:15

@Peakypolly - if he goes there, the Local Authority will fund it.

CallmeAngelina · 26/01/2021 01:16

Which local authority?

Grenlei · 26/01/2021 01:17

By palming Harvey off I don't mean arranging for his place in residential college. I mean her practice of leaving him with people he doesn't know and/ or aren't able to properly care for him whilst she was off on a 5th holiday in as many months or out getting pissed/ doing coke etc. It's not fair on Harvey or the people she was leaving him with.

She's not a penniless single mum (certainly she wasn't, until she wasted all her money) and could have afforded to arrange properly qualified people to provide his care in her absence, once her mum stepped back from doing so.

If a non celeb single parent was regularly leaving their child with multiple and complex disabilities with random people (who were neither family nor experienced/ trained carers) while they went away on holiday or on other jollies, it's highly likely that Social Services would be involved.

Fair enough.

I saw the post earlier about Dwayne paying fr Harvey - I don't believe that , as he publicly denied him. But even if it's true, money isn't what Katie needed.

Not sure about the details about the other kids. But let's not forget why Katie is no longer with Kieran in the first place.

I'm no massive KP fan, but I think she is a great mum to Harvey.

Thefeep · 26/01/2021 01:18

@bitheby - complete agree. My son is very much like Harvey. We know him so well. Why he does the things he does, the little noises he makes when things are going to get bad, recognising those signs early and dealing with them. I can see she spends a lot of time with him.

RootyT00t · 26/01/2021 01:18

I am no KP fan but I don't believe in a month of Sundays she leaves Harvey with people not qualified or able to look after him. I just don't.
