One question though - why did Kaya need a box of ovulation tests if she was having IVF using Dan and Emily’s embryo?

though her eggs are not needed, the conditions to receive the baby are still needed, ie. plumb womb lining etc, so that fertilised embryo would implant.
(in real life think this conditions would be artificially stimulated and not dependant on her natural cycle)

I got interrupted watching this and thought I hadn't missed much but wondered if anyone can explain how it went from the couple being told they should wait a year because a surrogate of 18 was to young, to them then going ahead. Did they just go private or something?

I think they went to get it done in Brazil (so private and wouldn’t have the same rules as the UK).
