"She might have said that just to get the SW off her back though."

No, I reckon she was genuine about it.

And eventually someone would have picked the phone up at the Ukraine clinic.

People did pick up the phone; they just didn't/pretended not to understand Emily. At one point she shouts 'I know there are English speakers there.'

Dan and his fixer were very rattled initially by the scandal of the money-laundering coming out, but by the end of the ep it all seemed to have gone away Hmm

MissEliza · 15/04/2020 19:47

I wondered if the clinic deliberately used a different embryo to ensure success.

Just finished last night. I particularly enjoyed the final episode, thought eps 3/4 were a bit silly but then the overall premise is a bit ridiculous. Also found Kya’s mum hard to watch .

I thought Mirren Mack was wonderful, as was Sophie Rundell as Emily. Didn’t really buy Emily and Dan as a couple tbh and the writing was a bit weird - Glaswegian dialect words used in odd ways, but I imagine you’d only notice that if you were from Glasgow/lived there.

That house though...swoon! Kinda ruined it when DH told me it was in Argyll in real life, which kept popping into my head whenever they arrived in the city centre within a short time period. Found it hard to suspend disbelief Grin

Enjoyable tosh.
Lots of random storylines, none of which added anything, but padded it out.
Boring ending.
I loved the Scottish accents/words.

I hope Jack did go to Uni. Apart from that I didn't really care about the characters - none of them were likeable at all.

Powergower · 26/04/2020 08:19

Found the last episode really boring. Loved wee Martin throughout though. SR and SH were awful, SR who played Emily was wet and moany and what's with the side gurning. I think the story ran out of steam quickly and perhaps it would've been better to continue down the road of kaya being a menacing child killer rather than have a sob story behind her. I found her really unlikable as a character, the only character who came out of it better was Dan.

BunnytheHoneyBee · 26/04/2020 16:19

I just finished this and really enjoyed it.

Think there’s an opening for series 2 given that the placement is temporary, the 6-7 year old child hasn’t been explained (has she?) and the mix up with the clinic which means there could be another child out there that is theirs. And also could the bio parents of this baby trace them and make a claim to it?

One thing I can’t see anyone has converse... we’re saying Neve is Kaya’s aunt and the baby was her cousin. But if the aunt with having an affair with Kaya’s dad the baby could have been her half sibling? And the child we saw in other clips could be that sibling. Or have I just gone off on one there 😬

BunnytheHoneyBee · 26/04/2020 16:22

Oh and now what do I watch? 🤷🏻‍♀️

kerrymucklowe2020 · 04/05/2020 11:34

I've just started watching "The Missing" on iPlayer. V good - James Nesbitt is in it

I finished this a couple of nights ago. It was much better than I expected although I found the Kaya back story more interesting than the surrogacy storyline. Wish we had got to understand more about the SW and his desperate circumstances that made him do what he did.

I didn’t trust Kaya for a long time but she came good in the end. I thought her taking the necklace off was meant to symbolise that that heavy weight of guilt didn’t need to be around her neck any more. Her mother was awful.

Some underdeveloped characters like the journalist.

I hope the nephew went to Uni.

We’re we meant to think that Dan lost his business and that was why they had moved into a different house?
