When two sides of Glasgow collide when a teenage girl makes a pack with a wealthy couple

Dan and Emily live in a stunning house by the edge of a lake and have everything they ever dreamed of

Apart from a child

Years of struggling and many failed ivf

Kaya has no money or job but offers to be their surrogate

It’s quickly becomes apparent that the baby pact has a destructive effect .......

Brazil!! I must have been away from the tv for longer than I thought. Thanks

HarrietM87 · 24/03/2020 16:14

I think it was Greece - there was a scene with them sitting under a sign in Cyrillic script - the Brazil thing was a lie they told his sister.

JemimaTab · 24/03/2020 16:31

Somewhere with dodgy surrogacy laws anyway!

lazymum99 · 24/03/2020 17:43

That wasn't greek letters behind them. But could have been Russian or some such.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/03/2020 23:03

Wasn't Greek, I thought maybe Russian too.

Vintagegoth · 25/03/2020 07:26

Did anyone else find the implantation scene wildly inaccurate?

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/03/2020 15:05

The egg transfer was totally wrong. Always have to lie flat and pelvis to be up

Not sure how tney got the embryo from ivf clinic - and then to keep frozen while fly to a country with no surrogate restrictions

They die with one an hour or so of defrosting

Wonder why they found out about her. Did she kill someone /patents

Why I’m care /on social list

Her friend at hospital who had a Mc - where is her hubby. What does he have to do with it ?

OP posts:
SapatSea · 25/03/2020 17:37

The friend who had miscarriage is her sister in law. The husband is a paramedic who looked like he wasn't onboard with the familial surrogacy. In a later scene he thanked Dan for the football party for his son but looked like he felt very undermined by it.

The implantation scene and the mechanics of getting the embryo to the clinic made no sense to me at all.

I thought the clinic might have been in Turkey.

I didn't like it much, slow and not believable. I'll record it but if I forget to watch it I wouldn't be bothered.

Vintagegoth · 25/03/2020 17:45

Position totally wrong during the procedure. No way the doctor would have been anywhere near her cervix. Plus if she was sitting up and rubbing her belly, where was the ultrasound image coming from to position the embryo?

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/03/2020 19:58

So dans sister was the surrogate

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 27/03/2020 07:39

I love Martin Compston but his character is dodgy af here. All that bad boy made good - his wealth has to be shady, surely?

I can't believe they've gone ahead with the surrogacy though - bonkers.

Papergirl1968 · 27/03/2020 19:58

It was ok but I have to struggle really hard to understand the accent.
Stunning house on the loch but not really safe for children.

raskolnikova · 27/03/2020 20:07

The implantation clinic was in Ukraine.

raskolnikova · 27/03/2020 20:12

(Приймальня - waiting room in Ukrainian I believe)

Hannahlouise4026 · 27/03/2020 23:35

I was just saying to my oh that they were speaking “TV Scottish” ie more understandable 😅 (I’m Scottish btw!) if she was from Possil, Kayas accent would be much much thicker irl.

purpleme12 · 28/03/2020 20:42

I liked it
Stupid premise because as if someone would be so stupid to go ahead with something like this with someone like that but hey ho we'll try forget about that!

SamSeabornforPresident · 28/03/2020 23:27

The premise was incredibly shaky but I enjoyed it. Better than bloody Homeland anyway, DH. I thought that was the neighbour in the Clyde at the end.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2020 17:50

Tonight episode

Dan questions what he really knows about the girl he has invited into his home

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 29/03/2020 17:59

Loved the views of Glasgow
Martin Cs accent is thicker than that IRL. Watered down for non-Scottish viewers.

They are muppets, they were warned not to go ahead multiple times, I suppose the desperation of wanting a baby makes people do desperate things.

Saw today that you can rent the house for 3K a night, it’s on the edge of Loch along 5 bedrooms sleeps up to 10 with its own private beach.

I though the neighbour had met a watery end in the Clyde too.

DH said it was boring and not his thing I’ll watch it tonight although wish they had put all the episodes on iplayer.

sweetkitty · 29/03/2020 18:00

*Loch Long

DarkDarkNight · 29/03/2020 18:51

Just saw a clip of this while catching up on Friday’s Gogglebox. I’ve downloaded the first episode and will record the second tonight.

Was the car crash staged? It seemed a bit fake.

wehaveafloater · 29/03/2020 18:58

I enjoyed it. Agree the accents are watered down somewhat (for the English ). Location on Loch Long is beautiful.
Was the wee fella from next door in the Clyde wasn't it ? ( was he was in 'the Angels share', or the one about fresh water pearls ??! )

spiderlight · 29/03/2020 20:12

I had high hopes for this but I found the first episode interminable. I kept thinking it would finish at the end of a particular scene and then it would move on to something else and I'd realise there were still 20-odd minutes left. I've set the series to record but I suspect I'll only come back to it if I get really bored.

I didn't realise Martin Compton was Scottish though. I called DH in to listen to his 'terrible' Scottish accent and he was like 'That's his actual accent....' Blush

SouthWestmom · 29/03/2020 21:07

Ok trying again but missed lots of the last one. Is she pregnant?

DisneyPlus · 29/03/2020 21:11

Yup they said she’s 3 months pregnant.
