MissEliza did she, I thought that was just to see her reaction in the bar

lazymum99 · 30/03/2020 12:38

She previously told her journalist boss that she came from Lewis

ScapaFlo · 30/03/2020 12:39

I think the David Hayton character (older guy) is Dan's lawyer, not his dad.

Thanks for the link to that house, it's amazing! We're going when we can 😄

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/03/2020 12:40

lazymum99 so missed that!

stumbledin · 30/03/2020 13:16

MissEliza - Line of Duty

PuppyMonkey · 30/03/2020 13:31

Sorry, i thought he was the dad too. Blush

MissEliza · 30/03/2020 13:47

@stumbledin pardon?

PlopTeeth · 30/03/2020 14:04

Kaya’s mum is Moaning Myrtle! 😂😂😂

stumbledin · 30/03/2020 14:48

I thought you were saying you didn't know why he is well known. So I suggested it was because of Line of Duty.

But maybe you meant you dont think he is much good or something! Smile

BizarreBizarre · 30/03/2020 18:27

The wife said shed lost someone close to her. The pic of the woman she stabbed looked so much like her was it the wife's sister?

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/03/2020 18:29

The wife said shed lost someone close to her. The pic of the woman she stabbed looked so much like her was it the wife's sister?

I must have missed her saying that, but wonder if it could be!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/03/2020 19:48

Hmm not sure if it’s the sister, if it is then it really is far fetched

bachsingingmum · 30/03/2020 20:45

The house looks amazing, but I'd wait for the inevitable bloodbath before deciding to book it!

MissEliza · 30/03/2020 21:46

@stumbledin I meant I'm struggling to understand why his character would be such a well known figure in Glasgow.

SamSeabornforPresident · 30/03/2020 21:59

Glasgow tabloids love local businessmen. He'd be in the papers and stuff.

MissEliza · 30/03/2020 22:06

I grew up in Glasgow and while it's a small pond, I don't think he'd be as big as they're making out. My df was in the property world and had several friends like him. They really didn't have profiles like that. To be fair, I'm nit picking. It's a plot device. If he didn't have a high public profile, the journalist wouldn't have started digging.

stumbledin · 30/03/2020 22:45

SuntanC · 31/03/2020 10:55

It is funny all the people unable to understand the accents Grin I was thinking when i watched it how polite and toned down they all sounded compared to what they would in real life! I'm from Glasgow though, to be fair Smile

IntermittentParps · 31/03/2020 11:40

SuntanC, the most 'Glasgow' of the accents was the guy who was fished out of the Clyde. He certainly wasn't from Kelvinside Grin

I think Neve was the name of the murdered woman, not Kaya's original name; would she really have her own name as a tattoo?

The wife said shed lost someone close to her. The pic of the woman she stabbed looked so much like her was it the wife's sister?
I thought about this too. Also wonder about the social worker's wife; he said she'd get better 'if she wants to' or 'if she decides to' or something.

ScapaFlo · 31/03/2020 12:05

I've just got the Radio Times and it says the character played by David Hayman (Souter) is "shadowy solicitor/fixer". So not Martin Compston's dad.

covetingthepreciousthings · 31/03/2020 15:15

I meant I'm struggling to understand why his character would be such a well known figure in Glasgow.

I was assuming he was a high profile footballer type rather than just a business man, is that completely wrong?

IntermittentParps · 31/03/2020 15:26

I don't think he's a footballer. When he was talking to Kaya about his past he said something about school, then 'going off the rails', or words to that effect, for a couple of years, then getting down to work and making money.

stumbledin · 31/03/2020 16:51

In Traces also set in Scotland the character he played did have a rathr devious father.

And in fact most of the mumsnet discussion on that was about different Scottish accents, and not knowing that is also a Scot. So seeing her in Deadwater Fell didn't come as quite such a shock. Smile

stumbledin · 31/03/2020 16:52

oops missing name: Laurie Brett

Pebble21uk · 31/03/2020 18:30

I'm trying to recall (and can't) the details of the conversation between 'Martin Compton' and his sister after he's seen the journalists file. If it WAS his wife's sister who was murdered (and yes, she did look like her) he would have recognised her... did anything in their conversation indicate that? He was pretty devastated, which would be a usual response anyway, but perhaps that's why???
Also if Neve was the murdered woman's name, wouldn't he have had more of a reaction to her suggestion to use it for the baby?
