I’m confused...who killed the girl on the tow path?

Report
2Rebecca · 11/02/2020 17:06

They never said. The ending was a confused unbelievable mess. Colin Dexter would have done a proper ending. They tried to overcomplicate it and just made it confusing and unbelievable. I have no idea what the last scene was about. Is it a 2 parter?

MissEliza · 11/02/2020 17:24

Yes the ending was fudged. It wasn't clear if the professor was being charged with the towpath murder.

Glad it’s not just me who’s confused...

Maybe it’s going to be part of some series long storyline? That or the flasher/runner being killed at the end?

CoolCarrie · 11/02/2020 18:32

There are only three episodes in this series so I think this storyline will run over all three, which is different from the usual format.

I thought they'd pinned Molly's murder on the professor. Ludo(?) is a bit sinister imo. He's up to something.

Ah just seen the end. A couple of twists there!

@CaptainMyCaptain yes I thought he looked shifty too...although I have to admit I did fall asleep halfway through so I may have missed a couple of bits. Not

I thought the professor killed the barmaid because she was blackmailing him. The actor playing Ludo was King Louis in The Musketeers....does any remember that series? No idea who slashed the flasher. Endeavour has such a great cast of acting talent does it.

Hmm not loving this series I have to say. I’m
Worried about what they are going to do to Fred’s character. I think he may eventually end up going rogue. I’m basing this on the fact that he’s not cannon in the books whereas we know Max & Strange are.

That Ludo is a wrong un I’m sure.

Report
diddl · 16/02/2020 11:12

I don't think that the Prof killed Molly.

Perhaps it was Jeremy? Or the flasher?

Or even the old man on the boat somehow?

So who slashed the flasher?(Ludo??)

Does Ludo know that his wife & Morse were together?

Does he kill her & try to blame Morse?

Is this the last series?

Report
diddl · 16/02/2020 11:18

Ooh, there's a series next year.

If that's also 3episodes, that'll make 33 eps altogether, the same number as Morse episodes.

Report
CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 16/02/2020 11:24

Thing is even if he does blame Morse we know it’s not Morse as we have the original series. There’s only so much that they can do with the character really. Which is why I worry about Fred. He’s my favourite & I actually really like Bright.

diddl · 16/02/2020 11:33

Oh Bright is a fabulous character & so well played by Anton Lesser.

icelolly99 · 16/02/2020 11:41

Yes, Anton Lesser is an amazing actor.....

@CoolCarrie, I saw somewhere that there's a telly in the corner in one of the scenes with something like the football results on it - and the letters of the first five teams form COLIN in an acrostic stylee.

Only just caught up with this episode yesterday, and was a bit confused by the ending - I don't think I was paying attention properly! But I guess that's not going to be revealed under later on. I think I prefer the stand alone nature of Morse episodes, rather than the mini-series story arc nature of Endeavour - makes it easier to dip in and out.

Fred and Win had a sort of falling out in a previous series too, didn't they? She wasn't getting attention from him, and was going out dancing with someone else. All resolved though.

JaneJeffer · 16/02/2020 14:08

I feel like it's going to be the boyfriend who killed her, just because Morse was being so smug about it not being him and it being too obvious when Fred suggested it was.

I think that you could be right, Jane.

I think that him becoming the Morse played by JT was very obvious last week!

Isn't SE only about 5yrs younger now that JT was when he started playing Morse?

The first Morse book was published in 1975-presumably it was also set around then?

Fred and Win had a sort of falling out in a previous series too, didn't they? She wasn't getting attention from him, and was going out dancing with someone else. They fell out because he lent their life savings to his feckless brother. That's why he was tempted to the dark side but thought better of it and gave the money back to Box.

Did we ever find out who killed George Fancy?

I don't think they actually got anyone for it.

I think Ludo is not as nice as he is made to seem. When he was telling Endeavour about his heartbreak, I said to dh "I wonder whether that's Endeavour's mysterious Italian lady". Lo and behold, 30 minutes later... I think Ludo's going to try and harm him.

I think they did clear up Fancy's murder. Wasn't he killed by the gun Box's ginger side-kick used?
