Well that was over the top. I hate to admit it but I sort of lost interest about 2/3 of the way through. I was so worried Fred was going to die of a heart attack.
But it seems strange that if he and Morse and back of speaking terms why he is going of to work with Arnott (which some superbrain on here pointed out he had to go next).
I should like it when they bring in feminist themes, but they are usually so hammy that I dont like them. Though loved the idea of a whole gang of women were ready to chase any man who approached their decoy!
Questions I have which I hope someone can answer.
Didn't the man who it turned out was the killer previously was said to have 3 witnesses who saw him at the time of the first murder.
And, isn't the story line about the pub fire, the children presumed lost or kidnapped one that comes up in a later Morse. Or maybe even in a Lewis?
Anton Lesser really good again. And what a horrible irony that his wife apparently on the way to recovery should be killed in this way.
And as someone said up thread, it does seem that Strange is maybe a better policeman as he does listen to Morse but doesn't get into the ego competitions.
And liked it that the pathologist (is that what they are called) put them in their place.
If the next, last series is supposed to take us to the start of the original Morse then he needs to up his beer drinking and get some grey hairs.
I dont know why I felt let down, but I think the whole Venice thing was like some silly action thriller and not in keeping with the overall feel of the series.
