I’ve binge watched for 2 days as I’m ill. I never tire of it. I have one niggle: about Pete and Dawn’s children. Why do they look so young in the vow renewal scene? If they were that young, they’d have been round at Pam and Mick’s all the time too.

Was a bit weird yesterday seeing Pam Ferris in G and S followed by Matilda.

My favourite characters are Ness and Bryn. I like Ness the way I liked Father Jack. Every single thing they say is funny and you just want to hear more.

"She's on her geography fieldtrip".

"Lucy spent ages colouring those maps in!"

"She's at her gymkhana".

Yes love the little references to Lucy being young like when Smithy tells Stacey that he’s got Lucy a my little pony for Christmas as she collects them and Sylvanian families

She's grounded except for any equestrian based activities

I’ve got a work mate called Lucy who’s dh does look a bit “smithy like” so I get all the references in - “alright Lucy what you been up to this weekend? Dicking around the dordogne again”

Bet she thinks I’m hilarious.

I don’t know why that always gets me, it’s always the extra level of detail they go to.

It’s interesting how he goes from Lucy who’s still at school to Nessa, who’s 10/15/20? years older and had about 14 different lives.

I like when Mr Poppy from Nativity is in it as an estate agent. Just watching him makes me laugh!

Smithy:I've been thinking about ending it all to be honest, suicide...bigtime. How many Nurofen would I need to finish me off?
Gavin:You? You'd need hundreds.
Smithy:Can't afford that can I? Not if I'm gonna have an holiday this year.

We watched that episode last night and I think it is my favourite scene in the whole show.

I watched the entire first series (again) last night because of this thread. Almost childless today so plan on series 2 😄

Yes! Possibly my favourite show ever. It’s not Christmas TIL I’ve watched the G&S Christmas special!

I was at uni in Cardiff, finished in 2004 so watching it makes me nostalgic- my parents used to come to visit and we’d go to ‘the Island’ on a day trip! Also when Smithy rings Gavin when he’s singing Do they know it’s Christmas and he’s at the services, that was the services I always stopped at driving home from uni.

What I think is brilliant is the way the story is told. There’s so many incidentals that don’t happen in other shows, like when they have the party the night before the spa/golf days. Nothing really happens as such but it’s brilliant. All the random conversations and one-liners - I remember writing a story and my English tutor saying ‘all dialogue must be relevant to the story’ and somehow they break this rule all the time and the result is hilarious!

To the poster who asked where you can find season 4, there isn’t one! They only ever did 1-3 plus the Christmas special. Also the query about the dog, I think it belonged to one of the crew and they decided to make it a thing? I always thought Bryn and Jason slept naked together on the fishing trip because it was freezing?

My favourite moments - hard to chose but the day to the beach with the BBQ, ‘Seth’s gone!’ (DH and I still do that, we have a relative called Seth!), and ‘I’ll have a pint...of wine’. I said that once around an in-law is just met and he said ‘Yes! Gavin and Stacey! Love it’ and we bonded!

I smokes a cigar at Christmas and a pipe at Easter. Always have, always will.

So just finished my rewatch. There’s a bit about Kevin Spacey being a lovely bloke, that obviously dates it But it really does stand the test of time. Might have to plan a trip to Barry Island in the summer ...

Just listened to Ruth Jones on desert island discs and loved it. Some nice g&s memories. Never seen Stella, can't image it's in the same league as Gavin & Stacey but is it worth a watch?

Stella is different - but it's still worth a look.

Start with episode one, though,nextsmallthing, otherwise you won't understand the set-up/storyline.

It's a bit slow to start with, which might put you off, but stick with it

Some bits of Stella are brilliant, some are very annoying. On the whole we loved it, especially Dadi.

This thread made me rewatch it all. It's lovely comfort viewing. But I did notice for the first time that shortly after Stacey telling Gavin she's pregnant, she's having a cigarette with Nessa outside the church! That bit really hasn't aged well!

I really like Nessa's boots. She really suits them.

But were they square platform heels or sexy stilettos? I can't remember.

I hope they were spiky stiletto!
