A new adventure awaits us in the New World. It's going to be savage!

Just come to find you, I knew there’d be an Outlander thread here. WTF was with that basically sexually assaulting your critically ill husband? DP and I caught up last night, watched that scene progressively wide eyed, him laughing (“oh, she’s got her magic boobs out for their contractual appearance!”) and me feeling ever more violated that she was furtling with his genitals whilst he was unconscious. I really enjoy Outlander but that was seriously Not On! Unconscious people cannot consent!

As an aside it was weird they just glossed over Marsali giving birth in the woods with just her husband & kids around, having made such a big deal about her wanting Claire there with her. And Brianna got full on thrown in the air charged by a bison but got up as if nothing had happened and then no one mentions it again.

I only watch the tv show, haven’t read the books.

BaconAndAvocado · 25/04/2020 09:52

So did Clare save her husband's life by giving him a hand job?

Blimey, who needs penicillin? 😂😂😂

Lessstressedhemum · 25/04/2020 10:21

She did indeed, bacon. He asked her to "touch him" because that was the only thing that would stop him going into the light🤣 it's not the blue light thing. She doesn't have her magic powers yet. I think it's just supposed to show the strength of their connection and how Claire is Jamie's life, really. But it is a bit mental.

I thought the same about Brianna. Maybe it was supposed to be the adrenaline because the Jemmy was threatened and she will be crippled with pain later. Who knows.

Yes I went back and reread that section and he does ask her to touch him (ss opposed to medical care) twice - once when he is asking her to get into bed and again when she already is in bed with him and stroking his buttocks. I dont think there is much other interpretation of what he was asking her to do from that position WinkSo not assault. Tbh I doubt in my head that Jamie would ever object anyway!

But things were lost in the show - can't show everything I guess. I suspect Marsali giving birth was also cut - editing there and with Bree (but that's different in the book because bree attacks it with an axe) seems a bit 'unfinished'.

ToyKitchenSink · 25/04/2020 12:00

It's true that Claire giving Jamie a handjob brought him back to life. A new technique for the NHS?!

The recaps on the Gofugyourself website are hilarious: www.gofugyourself.com/outlander-recap-the-ballad-of-nagini-04-2020

I've got my husband reading them now. I love hearing him chuckle as he reads the witty comments and observations.

Mytholmroyd · 25/04/2020 13:11

Love the Gofugyourself Toykitchensink not seen that before Grin hilarious!

Mytholmroyd · 25/04/2020 13:35

The photocaptions are brilliant too! Grin

Lessstressedhemum · 25/04/2020 14:21

That is absolutely hilarious, toy. I laughed out loud.

Hmm, I remain unconvinced..... unconsciousness negates all previous consent, I think we know what the relationships board would say! Anyways. Jamie appears fairly unperturbed by it all.

That go fug yourself piece is magnificent! Guess there’s fair crossover between MT fans and Outlander. DP is chuckling at it now too. Outlander is a shared weekly guilty pleasure in this house :-)

Mytholmroyd · 25/04/2020 21:56

Have spent several lost hours today because I have nothing better to do going back through the episode recaps on the gofugyourself website - not had such a good laugh for a long time - the episodes with Lord John are fabulous Grin. The screenshots and captions are a delight

JamieFraserskiltspeaksout · 25/04/2020 22:37

Ive been an Outlander fan since day one. Rarely posted...but what the fuck did I just watch??
I have never seen a man wanked back to life. Never even crossed my mind.

Imagine if that was the other way round.

OpthalmosVerde · 25/04/2020 22:50

I know right?

I was still thinking about this today. I reckon in that septic state he’d be so hypotensive that an erection might not be physiologically possible. Or if it did happen it really wouldn’t help bloodflow elsewhere!

ToyKitchenSink · 26/04/2020 10:31

So pleased I've spread some joy with the Gofugyourself site. It's truly part of the Outlabder experience for my DH and me!

I told him about this thread and our reaction to the life-giving handjob and together we've rechristened it CPR: Cock Pulling Resuscitation. Grin

shartsi · 26/04/2020 12:17

It was making love without making love

Duckingell · 26/04/2020 12:26

Haha ha. Amazing episode

Miracle wank. Grin

I knew they'd have to find a way to inject the penicillin. I did think Could have surely just opened up a vein and used a large bore tube of some sort if necessary?

OpthalmosVerde · 26/04/2020 15:07

On Lost they used sea urchin spines to do a blood transfusion.

Bleurgh still feel grossed out by the miracle wank. It was quasinecrophilia.

Lessstressedhemum · 27/04/2020 15:23

I'm not sure what to make of this week's episode. It was really good. More strong performances but the whole thing comes from book six. I kind of wonder what they are going to do in season 6 now and if they are going to bother renewing for season 7.

It's quite far through Snow and Ashes that Bonnet dies. I wonder who will be the bad guy in season 6?

OP posts:
quirkychick · 27/04/2020 17:16

I enjoyed today's too. I think it amalgamated sevetal of plots iirc? I think Bonnet kidnaps Brianna onto his boat with Eppie and something else happens at Oracoke (?) but they've condensed it. Claire will be visiting lots of brothels armed with penicillin and syringes!

Gofugyourself is hysterical, very funny. I do like Outlander, but DG does do mental weird sexual fantasy stuff like miracle hand jobs.

shartsi · 27/04/2020 17:44

I think in season 6 they will focus on the whole Malva and Thomas Christie story. Claire's time in jail, the Beardsleys with Lizzie . Also I think on Jamie being an Indian agent.

BonnesVacances · 27/04/2020 21:19

I haven't read the books so if Bonnet had escaped from the drowning or even if it had been left open that it might have happened, I think I'd have thrown something at the TV! Liked that Bree shot him. I don't mind if it was mercy or vengeance. She still had the final say over how he died.

My ovaries did a little jump when Roger piled into Bonnet and kicked the shit out of him. Grin I know we're all supposed to be focussed on Jamie, but after seeing how lovely and funny Richard Rankin is in RL, it enhances my view of Roger.

Lessstressedhemum · 27/04/2020 21:43

I hate all that Malva stuff. She is a poor, broken wee girl but all the scheming is horrible.

BaconAndAvocado · 27/04/2020 23:04

Was Miracle Wank the last episode in this series?

OpthalmosVerde · 28/04/2020 07:14

I’m very happy they got Bonnet dealt with! He’s been hanging around cheating death/justice forever. After all the “we have to kill him” hand wringing, once they had him bound up with all of them standing over him and they were pondering, oh let’s not kill him shall we, let’s do it all legally and nicely! I did shout at the telly. And then as all the death spectators left before he actually died, i was saying “oi! If no one watches him die he won’t die!”. So proper cheered when crack shot Bree finally sealed the deal.

Other fave moments

Jamie telling Roger Mac “I’ll avenge ye if ye fall”.... then Roger promising the same back, and Jamie trying not to laugh cos, yeah, that’s never gonna happen.

Jamie’s supposed ‘look of respect’ when Roger lamped Bonnet. Just a leetle bit begrudging.

Roger asking Bree “was that mercy or to make sure he’s dead?” and Bree’s inner monologue being “eh, little from column A, little from column B. Also revenge”.

I’m actually starting to think Bree might be a secret cyborg. They still haven’t addressed how she got charged by a bison last week with nary a scratch.

But everyone’s rich now, right? As Jocasta survived Billy Boyd’s assassination attempt, so will presumably hire a new, less murdery lawyer to arrange sprinkling her fortune around Fraser’s Ridge?

Oh which reminds me - Ulysses on his knees saying “Jocasta?” in a proper heartbroken fashion when he thinks she’s dead. He loves her! Or has Stockholm syndrome, potayto potahto.

Lessstressedhemum · 28/04/2020 09:46

He loves her. In the books, they have been having a secret affair for decades. I thought it was lovely how he held her hand.

Jamie staying on the beach to comfort Brianna was a bit odd. I'd have thought that he would have gone after Bonnet, especially knowing how hopeless Roger is. But it was good to see Roger giving Bonnet a bleaching.

Bacon there are three episodes after that one. This week's deals with Stephen Bonnet and then there are 2 more. Only 2, I'm gutted already.

I had a little whoop at the three of them in their tricorns going into the warehouse - nice shot - and roughing up Philip Wiley and jamie letting Roger do it - jamie looked quite scary.

Am looking forward to the 'Kill them all' line that Sam said was his favourite line of the season Sad i do like a bit of fantasy revenge now and then!

I am so sad it's nearly over though
