New season 10 starts tonight! I’ve watched it since the first season, got DP into it 5 years ago and my whole family are completely gripped by it every year. Gearing up for our lives to be taken over for another 3 months!

No one I know outside the family watches it so thought I’d see if there’s anyone else out there with the bug Smile

I spent 4 weeks in Australia this summer with DP’s family (and DP...) and one of the things we did was watch all of season 10. I loved it but am a bit gutted it’s done now.

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2018 20:21

Ooh yes! Thanks for posting this, I'll set it to record.

Duggee4ever · 29/08/2018 20:21

I love this!

NoSquirrels · 29/08/2018 20:23

Oh THANK YOU!! I love it, but I always miss the beginning. Off to look for it now Grin

Guiltyworkingmumoftwo · 29/08/2018 20:23

Love it!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 30/08/2018 12:20

@Blueemeraldagain please no spoilers! Every year I have to go out of my way to not google anything to do with it and accidentally spoiler myself! I did it one year and it was awful!

Glad to see I’m not the only fan! Already such a high standard last night, I think we’re up for a very impressive year.

Im so behind, I think the last we saw was season 7 when Billie won.
The standard is so high and the challenges are so good that UK Masterchef is awful in comparison!

Should I spend a year of my life catching up or just go straight to season 10? Is Shannon still a guest judge? I love him!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 30/08/2018 12:31

Just go straight to season 10, you’ll be fine. Shannon does still appear often yes! The standard is so high now, I’ve watched it since the beginning and I’ve really seen it grow.

Yes - count me in - I love Masterchef Australia - the format is excellent, the contestants are great, and I love the presenters (so much better than Greg and John, I'm afraid).

I had high hopes when they made Masterchef USA, with the same format - but they spoiled it - lots of stroppy contestants being nasty about eachother, whilst Gordon Ramsay shouts at them. Bah.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 30/08/2018 13:13

The Aussie one is the only one I watch now, even the UK one doesn’t grip me. All the other international ones don’t work because they don’t have George, Gary and Matt - it’s their perfect combination of judge, mentor and parent that makes it work so well, as well as the incredibly high standard of cooking. The fact they all encourage and challenge each other so well adds to the magic.

This Guardian article from last week says it so well

It's the one programme I miss since getting rid of Sky TV.
Does anyone know if it can be seen on any non Sky channels?

LBOCS2 · 30/08/2018 13:20

You can always find it to stream on websites of a dubious provenance, @Bombaybunty. I used to watch it in real time like that. Now that life is busier (bloody children), I wait until it comes onto UK tv - I was very excited to see it appear in my planner last night 😁

Bobbiepin · 30/08/2018 13:22

Yes!! What channel/time please?

LBOCS2 · 30/08/2018 13:23

It's on Watch (W?) at 8, I think.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 30/08/2018 13:29

It’s on Watch/W - it was on at 7pm last night as an hour and half episode, it’s usually on at 8, but if you series link it it will get the different times.

Bombaybunty it’s basically the only reason we had Virgin and now Sky. All that money for 3 months for the year!

Last nights repeat is on Watch right now for anyone who missed it

Bobbiepin · 30/08/2018 13:43

Oh have I missed the first episode? Must get that on catch up. Thanks!!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 30/08/2018 14:44

Yes started last night so you’ve only missed one Smile

Bobbiepin · 30/08/2018 22:23

Ok that's good. It's one of the very few series DH gets into and we love watching it together. I go back to work after mat leave next week so super excited to have that to come home to.

Bobbiepin · 30/08/2018 22:24

As well as the baby, obviously

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 30/08/2018 23:23

Obviously Grin

My DP loves it to, goes on the whole time it’s on about how it’s the best show on TV. It’s such good family watching. Really excited to start with the final 24 now.

MaitlandGirl · 30/08/2018 23:27

I’m in Australia so have seen the whole series already and (no spoilers) there are some absolutely incredible chefs this year.

It seems to get better every year.

Flibbertyjibbit · 30/08/2018 23:31

I love it, although haven't seen first episode yet. It's on my list of things to do. I might try to watch it early tomorrow morning before the day starts. Looking forward to it as nothing is as good!

NotTheQueen · 30/08/2018 23:33

Love the Australian one, the U.K. one is just too brutal for me.
