New season 10 starts tonight! I’ve watched it since the first season, got DP into it 5 years ago and my whole family are completely gripped by it every year. Gearing up for our lives to be taken over for another 3 months!

No one I know outside the family watches it so thought I’d see if there’s anyone else out there with the bug Smile

Have you seen the elimination pressure test, with not seeing, tasting, recipe or any visual reference?

LBOCS2 · 08/11/2018 08:35

No, I'm a couple of days behind I think..

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 08/11/2018 13:17

That elimination test was probably the hardest I've ever seen

LIZS · 08/11/2018 13:35

They all got amazingly close to the original.

HDready · 08/11/2018 13:41

So pleased to find other people who watch! (and who also find Chloe annoying)! Watching the elimination test now - so difficult. It made me feel anxious just hearing about it!

LIZS · 09/11/2018 08:16

Aargh, pic of 2018 winner just appeared in my fb feed. Final to be shown on 20th in UK.

LBOCS2 · 09/11/2018 12:24

Turned up on Insta too @LIZS - luckily I'd already ruined it for myself by looking up one of the previous years' winners on Wikipedia and accidentally catching sight of this year's winner.

Degustation challenge might have been more interesting had the judges not known who was cooking which dish.

It was crazy tough! Ben looked like he was going to throw up when he was told the challenge! I'm all caught up this week but am worried - finals week means it's nearly finished - what am I going to watch after this?!!!

I agree, that degustation challenge definitely would have been more interesting if they didn't know who cooked which dish...

Who do you think will win? I have the feeling the judges have a favourite but won't say who til I hear what others think

Davros · 15/11/2018 21:00

We're still watching. We can't stand Jess, she's annoying and useless. Very suspicious how she got this far. We think Kahnh (sp?) will win

llangennith · 15/11/2018 22:45

I like Jess! What's not to like. She's brilliant at cooking for any age let alone one so young. She's nice, polite, respectful, friendly and popular with the other contestants. Good luck to her.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 16/11/2018 07:16

I also like Jess and don't get how she can be described as 'useless'? She's had a couple of rough rounds but she is gifted. As is Khan but there is something about him I don't like - the false modesty that barely masks his arrogance but the judges love his food. Ben is getting stronger and stronger, and seems lovely As does . Sachi, who was very strong but seems to be struggling in these later rounds. Not sure of K&S name spellings but don't want to google to check!

FortniteIsTheNewCrack · 16/11/2018 08:00

I thought Sashi was nailed on throughout the competition, but agree recently he has wobbled, the Pasta Panic last night made me feel so sorry for him!

I also think Ben might win, he is just so lovely and down the earth ("me mates down the pub") Grin How can anyone not like Jess?! I think she is adorable although I have a DD about her age so might just feel maternal Smile Khan is an odd one, he annoyed me at first then I liked his excitability? Excitableness? but yes, it may be a a little of a false front.

I think it's between Sashi and Ben. Lovely to have a final four we like - DH and I cheered Blush when Chloe finally got the boot!

FortniteIsTheNewCrack · 16/11/2018 08:02

I also think Jess will have a brilliant future whenever she goes out - just 19, got through to the final four and genuinely has a talent for patisserie. If she opened a cake shop and I lived in Australia I would first on the doorstep Grin but I would for any cake shop Wink

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 16/11/2018 08:30

I've a horrible feeling Khan will win, the only one of the last 4 I don't want to win.
I'd love to find out what people are really like on these shows. Khan might be the loveliest person in the world, so I shouldn't really be so judgemental

Davros · 16/11/2018 09:33

I have a 15 year old DD and we both dislike Jess so it's nothing to do with feeling maternal. I think her so-called patisserie is really elementary, did you see that pb&j opera cake she made? And she doesn't seem to have a good palette, often making things too sweet. Her repertoire for someone almost in the final of a big cookery competition is limited, she panicked when she was given meat to cook and produced something very mundane. They always seem to be helping her by tasting and making useful comments. She got lucky a couple of times with weird combinations and seems to be able to follow a recipe, hence surviving so many eliminations. And if they mention that she's 19 one more time we may have a fight on our hands to see who can put their foot through the telly first! Having said that, we are enjoying it and would like Sashi or Ben to win.

Just chiming in from Melbourne to say that George underpaid his staff by millions. He said it was his business manager's fault and he didn't know it was happening. George was also had up for assault for punching someone at a football match. A few years ago his restaurant gave everyone food poisoning. I think his personal brand is a bit tarnished to say the least.

George comes across more and more as a shifty shit. Matt is just ridiculous with his take on Mississippi gambler gear and we love Gary

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/11/2018 11:22

I do still like all of the contestants who are left - and I think it will be Ben who wins - he has really found his stride and doesn't seem to be able to put a foot wrong.

I think that all of them will be able to pursue careers in the food industry, on the back of this - they are all good at what they do (I do accept that Jess still has to develop her palette, but she is only 19 so she has time) - and this will have given them massive exposure in Australia.

I really hope that Sashi gets to live his food dream - teaching prisoners the skills they need to get jobs in the food industry when they leave prison sounds like such a great thing to do, and would use his fame from Masterchef in such a constructive and valuable way.
