Any Masterchef Australia fans (in the UK) about?

New season 10 starts tonight! I’ve watched it since the first season, got DP into it 5 years ago and my whole family are completely gripped by it every year. Gearing up for our lives to be taken over for another 3 months!

No one I know outside the family watches it so thought I’d see if there’s anyone else out there with the bug

I was surprised that Ben's meringue kisses were enough to qualify him for an immunity pin - frankly, I was surprised he got tasted, when there were other much more interesting dishes made!

Gina is on borrowed time as is the girl who was on the team with Kirsten. (Forget her name and daren't google in case of spoilers!)
Ben's meringue kisses looked very boring, easy and uninspired to me but their flavour and texture must have been spot on.

I think Gina was on some sort of sponsored swear-a-thon in the pressure test! She should be a MNer, with a mouth like that!

Anyone else still watching? I like many of the remaining contestants apart from Chloe - smuggy mcsmuggster! She's so annoying - "as a nutritionist.." - grr

I'm still watching! Was another name upthread, (Main Street). Chloe is the most irritating person ever (and her nasal whining drives me demented). I'm so glad someone else dislikes her! Also cannot bear equally smug Kirsten, or the walking sweaty combover that is Reece

I would like Sashi to win. Or Jess or Ben, but I think Sashi is more likely. I LOVE them. Jess is just adorable. Also like Samira and her food always looks yummy.

I will be really sad when it ends.

The thing I like most about Masterchef Australia is that, by and large, the contestants are nice people - they may have quirks that irritate, but they are all supportive of each other, even though they are competitors, and there seems to be little or none of the bitchiness that is a feature of some other competitive shows - Masterchef USA, America's Next Top Model, or The Apprentice, for example.

It's why I like Bake Off, Sewing Bee and the Pottery Throwdown - I think that where people are creative, they are usually generous people too - willing to help and share their knowledge (though Masterchef USA does spoil this theory a bit).

In the 10 years of Masterchef Australia, I don't think there has ever been a contestant that I really hated, one that I wished and hoped would be eliminated asap.

Justine from season 1 used to set my teeth on edge with the overuse of the word 'perfectly' as in 'the meat needed to be cooked perfectly'

I have no idea why it used to annoy me and I actually quite liked her -but they do always all seem lovely

Yes the Australian contestants generally seem lovely. Awful stereotyping alert, (apologies for any offence as I mean it nicely) but Ben in particular seems like a great Aussie bloke, very kind and down to earth. I can't think of the exact word I mean, but he seems to say things exactly as he sees it, very factual and no pretence (which you do see a lot from other MCs).

The USA one I think has calmed down somewhat, they did use to almost set the contestants against each other. I actually like Gordon Ramsey on it, he's another one that tells it like it is but he does "mentor" in that they learn things. I learnt about holding meat against the sides of the pan not just the base, to sear, from US Masterchef 😂

her nasal whining drives me demented me too. I sit there trying to copy her voice. It's impossible. I've been wanting her to go out for ages.

I'm hooked on this show, Ben is my fave, not as good as some of the others but so lovely! Really hope he doesn't go in the master elimination tomorrow. Another one that can't stand Chloe's voice.

Yes I find Chloe pretty annoying, she makes pretty basic errors but seems to survive. Reece's hair is just odd! Think Samira has reached her limit now, she can't just keep producing bread and dips. Glad we are having a break from Shannon Bennett.

I can't stand Shannon! Does anyone have a link to the staffing issues?

I genuinely don't know how Samira has made it this far. Everything she produces seems so... meh. She's stayed at the middle of the pack all the way through, completely under the radar, but with fewer people in the competition it can't be long before she's 'found out'?
