Almost time for a new thread! Can I suggest we insert "Outlander" in the title so other like-minded lassies can find us more easily?

How about something like "The Outlander thread - Lassies of Lallybroch in the New World"

Or hopefully something cleverer but which keeps both the lassies of Lallybroch and Outlander in the title :)

AKAmyself · 26/11/2017 17:05

Really cannot wait for the episode. Saw mixed reactions on twitter but then there's no pleasing some folks, especially when the source material is so dodgy. The pictures I've seen show a very sun-burnt claire but also a lot of laughter and levity and also, finally!, the demise of the batsuit once and for all.

I also have a confession to make - everyone keeps talking about turtle soup and I have ZERO recollection of said scene in the books! Absolutely none. I have read them all, promise!!!

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/11/2017 17:06

Apart from missing a huge SPOILERS in the title, I think that's fine Wink

AKAmyself · 26/11/2017 17:08

Ah, yes, of course, SPOILERS AHOY!!!

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/11/2017 17:09

No, I couldn't remember Turtle Soup either (although it's a good scene in the show, the book didn't leave a lasting impression).

I feel like that with a lot of the book stuff though. Readers of the book will say, 'oh, such and such is a great scene' and it's only once I've finished that I realised I haven't even registered the bit they were raving about Confused

AKAmyself · 26/11/2017 17:34

its a shame they couldn't just leave out the whole caribbean interlude entirely and just have them wash up in Virginia in a more straightforward way. Anyway, looking forward to tuesday night and my weekly fix! What will we do when it's all over???!

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/11/2017 17:35

I think we should start from the beginning. One episode a week, then meet here to discuss Grin

Middleoftheroad · 26/11/2017 17:47

I preferred this latest episode to last week and can't believe there are just two left now Sad

MoNigheanDonn · 26/11/2017 17:53

courtney I'd be up for that

AKAmyself · 26/11/2017 18:02

Starting all the way from season 1, obvs Wink

MoNigheanDonn · 26/11/2017 18:08

Don't forget to put mumlanders in the title 😂

MoNigheanDonn · 26/11/2017 18:10

Yes AKA have to start from season 1...may have to watch a couple episodes if cliffhangers though

Lessstressedhemum · 26/11/2017 18:28

How about Lallybroch Mumlanders of the Caribbean? Or have they actually reached the New World now?

I liked the turtle soup scene in the book. It's pretty hot. But the mad women make far to big a deal.

Would be up for a new episode a week thread as well.

No, they wash up in Georgia in the book! Close to where I grew up. They have to keep that in or I will be like those complainers on Facebook, moaning about every deviation from the sacred texts. Smile

New World is fine. I think the Caribbean is part of the New World.

JuneFromBethesda · 26/11/2017 18:38

Love your idea of going back to the start and watching an episode a week Courtney

Please can we not have mumlanders in the title of the next thread? It makes my toes curl ... sorry Blush I liked AKA's suggestion.

Lessstressedhemum · 26/11/2017 18:41

I suppose it must be, Seneca, when you think about it. I always just think of the new world as the AmericasBlush

I agree, it needs to be Georgia. I don't know why, but I like them to stick to places. Don't care about colours or costumes or any of that, but I feel like the actual places are important.

I agree. Sorry Blush Aka's title was fine. I think it had everything in it, and won't put off anyone new who wants to join the thread.

AKAmyself · 26/11/2017 20:48

Oooppps I meant Georgia Blush

MoNigheanDonn · 27/11/2017 06:24

Toddler slept in! Will watch during naptime and report back. Excited!

AKAmyself · 27/11/2017 07:08

We can maybe lose the “Lallybroch” in the title... sadly we’re not in Scotland anymore :(

MoNigheanDonn · 27/11/2017 07:13

Outlander - Lassies of The Caribbean SPOILERS AHOY or something along those lines could be cool

Or

Lassies of Lallybroch in the Caribbean

Lessstressedhemum · 27/11/2017 10:32

That is genius, a nighean. Can we br Lassies of Fraser's Ridge in season 4?

I really liked that episode. The writers do so well avoiding the one dimensional side characters, don't they? Father Forden was so much more complex than the pathetic figure he cut in the book, so was Mamacita. Fergus and Marsali looked so happy and it's nice to see things between Marsali and Claire beginning to soften. Jamie giving Fergus his name would bring tears to a glass e'e.

I had a wee tear at the name part.

Really enjoyed that episode!

Lessstressedhemum · 27/11/2017 11:37

SO, now that winter is here and my teens are being stalked by horrible death |(i.e. have a bit of a cold), does anyone want a recipe for elderberry and ginger syrup to help treat/prevent this awful doom?

OP posts:
quirkychick · 27/11/2017 11:42

Yes, please Less we're all full of the lurgy here!

Father Fogden and Mamacita were a great double act. Nice to see some more comedy after Elias Sad. I do remember the books having quite a few funny moments in them.
