Just catching up with this thread - have been lurking and my phone totally deleted MN for a while :( so just found you all again !
Am loving all things OL with season 3 apart from Jamie's dodgy wig - it really needs a show of its own . But he is looking braw and glad we are seeing a bit more Love between J&C was craving that :)
Have fun in Scotland Monighan

MoNigheanDonn · 24/11/2017 11:57

Haha madame was v confused there! It's Sophie Skelton aka Brianna who is heading to Scotland according to her Instagram story. I live in the Lowlands of Scotland though!

madamefraser · 24/11/2017 12:20

Oops MoNigheanDonn didn't actually open the photo haha! All very exciting stuff ..!

MoNigheanDonn · 25/11/2017 09:19

CB posted a pic in Twitter yesterday - she's wrapped in a foil blanket but you can see the batdress is no more!

MoNigheanDonn · 25/11/2017 09:21

Meant to say - I'm going to be starting book one after this season is finished if anyone fancies a reading buddy, would probably make a thread in books should anyone want to join in.

DryWhiteagainW · 25/11/2017 11:19

Oh I've been invited to a poshBurns Night do.... need Fraser tartan ribbon to make a button hole don't I? --Scottish friends give me advice!-/

Lessstressedhemum · 25/11/2017 16:49

I would be up for a book thread. I just need an excuse for another read Grin

Dry, you definitely need a buttonhole. Tartan ribbon, a bit of heather and maybe a thistle/bluebell.

So, having read to the end of book 4 and then bribed DS to join Amazon student Prime so that I can use his log on, I have now watched all 3 seasons.

WIBU to just go back to season 3, episode 6 (the reunion) and watch all the shagging it all again?

Now I have to wait till Monday for the next episode. Don't know how they will fit the whole Jamaica malarkey into 3 episodes. They could have cut down the on board stuff I thought.

Lessstressedhemum · 25/11/2017 18:24

You would NOT be unreasonable, even if you had episode 6 on loop. Every time I hear him say "Oh God, yes' my knickers catch fireWink

Am I the only one who's enjoying the show but thinks no series will ever top the first one. There's just something about the first series.

Fantasticmissfoxy · 25/11/2017 18:38

Drywhite is it a Burns supper? A tartan sash would be the usual adornment for a lady like this ;

Drywhite - I forgot to say, it's not terribly polite to appropriate someone else's family / Clan tartan especially one as recognizable as Fraser. If you don't have one of your own there are lots of non family / non Clan tartans to choose from, Spirit of Scotland is a lovely one. My (half Canadian) husband has a kilt made of it.

In defence of the ‘stalkerish’ fans, while there may be some, er, ‘enthusiastic’ fans making a special effort, I have come across them filming episodes twice when just out for a run or on my bike. They film, or have filmed, a lot near me though, Lallybroch is just up the road. It’s pretty easy to spot where they are filming because there are crew signs everywhere! They were filming again near me last week I believe, but I can’t work out why, knowing what the location is. I’m thinking flashback.

Lessstressedhemum · 25/11/2017 19:03

Dry, are you Scottish or have Scottish ancestry? I wear a tartan sash if I am going to things (Bowman is a Sept of Clan Farquharson). I know lots of non Scots do but, tbh, I find it a bit odd. That's just me, though and Fantastic is right.

Lots of the hh wear Fraser tartan to things, if that's any help. They shouldn't but they do. I think if you just wear a wee bit if ribbon in a corsage it would be OK, but not for the full sash. You can even get an Outlander tartan, that might be good. If you want a more traditional generic tartan, Flower of Scotland is a nice one, as is Isle of Skye.

Is it a formal Burns do? If it is, you will need a posh frock, tooGrin

Season 4, might be when Brianna comes to lallybroch to find her parents.

We go to a formal Burns Supper every year put on by our local Scottish American society. I just wear a sash in my own family's tartan, and DH wears a tartan tie and cummerbund in his. He won't wear a kilt although a lot of the men do. It's a lot of fun.

Countdown to midnight and the new episode. Smile

LonelyOversharer · 25/11/2017 20:03

I'm just placemarking for monday as I've fallen off the thread!

Season one takes some topping. Watched the silly search the other night, and even this episode is great. Poor CB and DL look perplexed at what they are doing through most of it, makes me laugh every time.

I think when the season ends and I binge watch it back, it will work out better than season 2. But then that was great as well!

MoNigheanDonn · 26/11/2017 06:17

Another 24hrs yet here seneca judging by comments on Twitter it's a good one. Our/dh tartan is bright red, no use for camouflage!

MoNigheanDonn · 26/11/2017 09:55

I just watched some clips from episode 11 on YouTube. It looks amazing! Can't wait to see the whole thing tomorrow.

Melty · 26/11/2017 11:53

Just watched it.
parts of it were a bit dragged out, but overall, I liked it.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/11/2017 12:42

I've watched it too.

I'm not going to spoiler it, but Father Fogden needs his own spin off show.

I hope at some point they deviate from the books and bring back some of these characters. I wouldn't mind seeing Geordie again, but can't think of a reason why he'd end up in America.

SenecaFalls · 26/11/2017 15:13

Father Fogden needs his own spin off show.

Yes indeed. And Mamacita too. This show does such an outstanding job with minor characters.

They did not disappoint with one of my favorite scenes from the books, involving Fergus of course.

Very good episode.

DryWhiteagainW · 26/11/2017 16:09

Oh thanks for Burns Night advice. I'm not Scottish at all so wouldn't wear a sash , really don't want to offend anyone. Am I. Eat just wearing posh dress and leaving off tartan altogether.

I agree season 1 takes a lot of beating. I miss BJR

MoNigheanDonn · 26/11/2017 16:48

12ish hours now...Monday is the only day of the week I almost will the toddler to wake early!

Lessstressedhemum · 26/11/2017 16:55

Wear a wee thing, Dry. A corsage or shoe bows or something. I always like a wee heather buttonhole thing on a handbag, done up with a bit of ribbon. A posh frock is a must, though. Be the glam!
