I do love this show but they ALWAYS choose families who spend stupid money anyway so saving 50/80/100 a week is easy

Wonder if they will ever use a family who spend 60 a eeek and went to reduce to 40/50 and that £10/20 really help the family

But I still love it

I also love this brainless show, from the ambush in the supermarket to the 'that was definitely a swap Greg', the families are always very good natured as they laugh about frittering away 20k a yr on food and are a good sport when Greg teaches them how to grate cheese.

They really do pick utter idiots on this show who’ll do big shops while having cupboards full of rotting food.

One family had a dad working full time, mum working part time. They worked out they spent the equivalent of the mum’s wages on food alone. Crazy.

I like the snooty ones who end up preferring the Tesco value stuff, then do a cats bum face when they’re told what it is.

Is they swap lots of brands via diff shops

They should just use their local shop. I don't have time to go to sain Tesco lidl etc

But yes grating cheese or chopping carrots saves money

I do not believe anyone has cupboards that look like that after a week of living in a house.

I love the kid who knows the exact size of waffles and what the heinz can looks like.

What annoys me is they always say you save loads by swapping to unbranded. Surely everyone only buys walkers etc when they are on (constant) offer.

I enjoy this programme, but they save lots by having got specific products from different supermarkets. Who has time to do that?

what did they say she did for a job? Worked for social housing? She seems to be very wealthy with a Merc, manicured nails, huge house, all as a single mum.

To be fair, it's really good that she's trying to learn these skills and pass them on to her daughters. If it's not something she's done growing up, it probably is very intimidating.
I was a bit at their diet on the first day and wondered why they weren't addressing the massive saving opportunity of home cooking.

No focus on healthy eating (yet). Debate over which coke to buy. FFS. Maybe drink water, love?

Lol you can always rely on teenagers to be honest! I don't blame them, why didn't they use gluten free flour to make the dough base?

What's relevant is her income because this is about saving money. THEY are the ones stressing she is a single parent. I'm pointing out she seems very wealthy given her job. It doesn't add up. Don't think we know the full circs.

Those children eat like savages though, not sitting down, leaning over the table and when knives and forks finally appeared they didn't know how to hold them properly.
Do they really eat crisps in bed or was that just for the programme?
Also curious about the rest of their lifestyle although maybe property is cheap in that part of the country?

Hate how everything’s from different shops. Not all of us have an Aldi/Lidl/Iceland nearby and sometimes I have to book a Tesco delivery slot a week in advance.

Otherwise it costs me £30 in a taxi most big shops near me (I don’t drive)
So much for saving money 🙄

And much as I love Aldi, sometimes you become attached to something (like their ginger greek yogurt) only to have it disappear off the shelves.

It has given me a bit of a boot up the bum about planning and big shops though, we've let that slide recently.
