I do love this show but they ALWAYS choose families who spend stupid money anyway so saving 50/80/100 a week is easy

Wonder if they will ever use a family who spend 60 a eeek and went to reduce to 40/50 and that £10/20 really help the family

But I still love it

I think they have a recipe book out. I've seen it in Morrisons.

PurpleDaisies · 18/10/2017 21:38

To be honest, you could find similar recipes on bbcgoodfood. It's the cooking and buying less expensive ingredients that saves the money.

BrieAndChilli · 18/10/2017 21:41

The recipes are online on the bbc website, I’ve done a couple of them before.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/10/2017 22:04

Yes a book

Love this show.

There are 2 books:
Eat well for less
Eat well for less: Family Feasts on a budget

I have both they both have good recipes that I actually use.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/10/2017 22:36

And yes a lovely family

Loved the tea taste test - which she failed

Love it when say they don't like something and it's their own brand 😂😂

Great episode. What lovely boys and wonderful mum.

OneInAMillionYou · 18/10/2017 23:29

Really enjoyed this episode and hats off to the mum for taking it on, with everything she has to deal with.

Her boys were a credit to her, charming and funny. Such a contrast to many of the other whiny offspring from previous episodes.

HouseworkIsAPain · 18/10/2017 23:38

Thanks for the info and links to the books. Will check out the goodfood site too.

Slartybartfast · 19/10/2017 07:05

I think its sadly just Liza Tarbuck's voice who ruins it, makes the show seem like a show for children's tv.

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 19/10/2017 11:18

What a great episode. Good to see the kids really wanting to take part, so often they’re against the changes and a bit bratty. And good that the mum was wanting to persevere with some of the things that the boys didn’t love because she knew they were healthier.

My ds (7) has started watching this with me on Sundays and has been asking to make some of the recipes.

jay55 · 19/10/2017 19:28

I wish the nutritionists did the whole show and we didn’t have to deal with Greg.

Slartybartfast · 19/10/2017 21:00

Agree, I do like the nutritionists recipes

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 19/10/2017 21:23

I’ve scribbled down a few of her recipes from this series and last. They don’t put many online, will have to have a nosey at the book.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/10/2017 21:42

I love Greg. He's funny

Kids were a real credit to mum

Often get whiney kids refusing to try stuff and these boys tried everything

I usually watch it but missed it this time.

TheOneWithThePurpleWrapper · 20/10/2017 19:07

It was a lovely episode but I do think that not enough was said about the lads possibly having sensory issues or difficulties with the mechanics of chewing and eating that could have had them labelled wrongly as fussy eaters.

But as usual 'St Greg Of All Thats Holy' saved the day.

Textpectation · 20/10/2017 21:25

I live it when they haven't swapped too. The tea taste was mega.

I love Liza Tarbuck.

thegoodnameshadgone · 20/10/2017 21:58

I wish they’d help me with my wine shop. I always buy brands never the supermarkets own. Maybe they can help Confused

OnionShite · 21/10/2017 15:54

Hala is great.

MissEliza · 23/10/2017 15:25

I loved last week's family. The boys were good fun and the mum seemed like a lovely person. My only gripe with the show is that it convinced me to buy a supermarket brand teabag (Asda) and it was horrible! I have to say during the credit crunch years I did all of the stuff this programme recommends e.g. swapping brands for supermarket labels, and as my dcs have got older they've rebelled. We're back to Heinz beans etc.

toomuchtooold · 25/10/2017 20:24

Anyone watching tonight? The DH is coming across as a bit of an arse. 6 out of 10 for a dinner? I think DH would end up wearing his dinner if I made him dinner and he said that Grin

cheesydoesit · 25/10/2017 20:35

Haha yes, I have just been saying the same thing! Quite the 1950s vibe tonight! Daddy must have his nightly stout when he comes in!

Raisedbyguineapigs · 25/10/2017 20:35

I came on to find a thread to say exactly the same thing! That poor woman. She seems so put upon by all of them. Giving his wife marks out of 10? They need a kick up the arse, especially the dad.

Raisedbyguineapigs · 25/10/2017 20:37

I'm the opposite of the families on this programme, as I hardly ever buy brands. I got a Quaker Oats substitute in my Tesco shop, and my goodness, they are so creamy and lush! Blush
