On tonight at 9 on ITV, this is a six part murder mystery set set against the backdrop of Loch Ness. It looks promising and I love watching Siobhan Finneran:

No, we haven't seen her. She's been referred to though. She is supposedly at university.

NotCitrus · 27/06/2017 09:27

Ah, I was wondering what on earth Bethan's parents were hiding, and think mummys may have it.

Someone will have been shagging piano guy, for sure. Probably not Marr but anyone else.

Did Baxter the big bully kid admit to being the one who did the scaring Evie and mate off the road?

What I didn't get was why the phone tracker on Jonjo's phone only kicked in when our heroine was miles away at Wotsit Point - either the village hall is nearer there than the police station is, which would make it a small town that takes 15 minutes to drive through, or our killer managed to replace the battery and put the phone under the blue van despite the police cordon and news crews all round it since that morning.

Also, missing vulnerable kid with serial killer on the loose. Mystery blue van parked outside the village hall blocking stuff and police told to shift it around 9am. Small town, no-one knows who van belongs to and DVLA presumably doesn't come up with a local. And no-one thinks to look in the van?

MummysMaison · 27/06/2017 09:52

I presumed that someone who went into the village hall slipped the phone underneath it. The meeting provided a good opportunity as everyone was there together so it wouldn't make it obvious as to who it was. As soon as I saw that van I knew he was in there. Cannot believe no one checked given the fuss the polic guy made about its location!

I've no suspect in mind just yet. I always work on the theory that's it's always someone who is in every episode, even if it's a very small part, never one of the obvious suspects.

The police women's husband is a bit shifty though.

hollyisalovelyname · 27/06/2017 10:05

The police woman's husband saw a man's body in the water via his underwater drone but didn't report it 😱
He was more interested in the fact his wife visited the murderer's house!!!
I'm glad somebody said we haven't seen Bethan in the series 'yet'.
I couldn't place her and thought I'd 'lost the plot' literally Smile
I think it's a good series.
Unlike Redwater which was an insult to the viewers with no closure at the end and no sign of a follow up series.

Arkengarthdale · 27/06/2017 10:10

Huge plot holes but beautiful scenery. And lots of well-known actors.

Why hasn't police woman's husband eagerly replayed the footage from his new toy? Especially as his first foray into the deep with his camera was interrupted by a phone call?

Why does a CID officer on duty drive around in a 12 year old unreliable car instead of a proper police pool car like the rest of the planet?

Etc etc

I've had to put subtitles on to understand every word - and I live in Scotland! They all mumble.

Still watching it avidly though Grin

AgentProvocateur · 27/06/2017 10:54

I don't think the policewomans husband saw the body - he went into the cabin to take a call as it appeared on screen and disappeared again...

Optimist1 · 27/06/2017 11:07

I agree, Agent - he strolled away before the body came into view and by the time he returned the camera had passed it.

Clawdy · 27/06/2017 11:20

Yes, he missed the image, a bit of a plot twist, not a good one though, very convenient.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/06/2017 11:37

There was an awful lot of people wandering off and missing Vital Clues on tech devices in the last episode. Well - it happened twice. But I guessed, as soon as we saw the underwater camera thingy, that it was going to find the submerged corpse.

The teenage daughter is annoying me too.

BeyondOfbob · 27/06/2017 11:48

I was annoyed by "confirmed serial killer". Possible serial killer I can accept, but over and over again "confirmed" was annoying Grin

Isn't it general knowledge that to be a serial killer means killing three people minimum? Two people - one as yet unidentified - could be any reason?

NotCitrus · 27/06/2017 13:28

I suppose if a human heart is found and the blood from that person found carefully hidden with a missing bit of brain from the body already found, it's pretty obviously not manslaughter and the cases are clearly connected. Normally a serial-killer story would have two bodies and it would be unclear if their deaths were in fact connected until a third, but that's not the case here.

Sooner the daughter gets shipped to Australia the better.

Callmegeoff · 27/06/2017 13:33

I didn't realise he saw the body in the loch holly didn't he miss it because he went inside the boat? Or did I miss something?

Arkengarthdale · 27/06/2017 13:42

He missed the body because he went into the cabin to answer his mobile - but nobody ever spends thousands on a swanky camera and then doesn't watch the footage back on the big tv at home! (And we've only got a dinky Go Pro Grin)

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 27/06/2017 13:47

Not, I was thinking that rather than keeping her in the area until the investigation is over, it would be more beneficial to ship her off asap Grin

PacificDogwod · 27/06/2017 15:51

DH wants the "twist" to be that Nessie did it

That would be a plot twist worthy of the phrase! Grin

Surely that fancy-pants underwater camera records and the footage of the corpse is not lost?? Surely?!
Same here with GoPro, Arken Wink

"Someone will have been shagging piano guy, for sure."

College lecturer, I reckon.

DoneInn · 27/06/2017 19:37

I reckon gopro guy will watch the footage eventually.
Teenage daughter is pretty unpleasant.

Arkengarthdale · 27/06/2017 20:51

Teenage daughter is an entitled PITA

TheHiphopopotamus · 28/06/2017 14:10

I've been enjoying this but after reading the thread, I've realised I don't know who any of the characters are and I haven't been following the plot either, apparently Confused

Only just realised that Tony from Corrie is in it so my money's on him (or Lucas the EE killer. They both have form Wink).

Agree that the daughter is very annoying. Sooner that ship her off to Australia, the better.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 28/06/2017 16:27

"Tony from Corrie is in it so my money's on him (or Lucas the EE killer. They both have form)"

I was thinking that Grin

cheesydoesit · 28/06/2017 22:09

I am rewatching series 4 of Luther and the dodgy Doctor that we suspect has impregnated Bethan played the cannibal serial killer.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 28/06/2017 22:29

Were the whole cast murderers in another life?! Shock

NotCitrus · 28/06/2017 23:51

Is it going to be a Murder on the Orient Express-style conspiracy?

I think the next 2 eps are going to show us how everyone has something to hide - especially her husband who I bet is purposely not fixing the car properly - and then last one will suddenly tie it all up. And kick annoying girl off to Australia. She's perfectly plausible but annoying!
