On tonight at 9 on ITV, this is a six part murder mystery set set against the backdrop of Loch Ness. It looks promising and I love watching Siobhan Finneran:

I'm enjoying the series. If you can 'enjoy' a murder mystery series.
It does hold you in suspense.
I like The Loch and Fearless at the moment. I don't have Netflix 😕

PacificDogwod · 29/06/2017 20:47

Is it going to be a Murder on the Orient Express-style conspiracy?

Oooh, what an intriguing possibility!

DoneInn · 29/06/2017 21:42

I'm quite a sucker for some good scenery.
Favorite scenic crime shows - Vera, Shetland, Hinterland and now the LochGrin

kwisatzhaderach · 29/06/2017 22:56

I really enjoyed this show. Enough plot twists to keep you hooked. Lovely scenery. Plenty of red herrings.

There is something very Agatha Christie about the way the whole series of potential killers are lined up in the first episode. To be true to form the killer should either be someone with a watertight alibi from the first line-up or someone who moved under the radar in the first episode. I can't see that alibis come into it at all, so probably the second way. Which then lets out the whole line-up of potentials: Leighton (ex-murderer), Dr Marr, Headmaster acting dodgily around dead man's phone, and possibly Bethan's parents.

My money is on Annie's husband. Or Allbrighton.

wheresmyphone · 30/06/2017 22:17

Gave up in mid way through episode 2...should I give it another go?

AgentProvocateur · 30/06/2017 22:22

Yes!

NotCitrus · 30/06/2017 22:57

I agree - Mr Annie who looms ominously, or Blake who fancies himself way too much. What was that putdown the English detective had for him?

kwisatzhaderach · 02/07/2017 10:45

Living in Australia, this finished here about 2/3 weeks ago. Last few episodes are very good.

Apparently the school is the only state school in Scotland with governors. It also seems to be the only sixth form college in Scotland.

Optimist1 · 02/07/2017 22:38

Well, the arrival of Tench muddied the waters more than a bit, didn't it? TBH I don't feel any character has enough depth for me to be predicting who dunnit. Lovely scenery, though.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 03/07/2017 00:38

My wild stab in the dark - it's the boy with LIS. Hes murdering people and his mum is keeping him drugged so he has an alibi.

diddl · 03/07/2017 11:18

But if he's drugged all/most of the time, would he have the strength?

I think that it must involve him somehow though.

Maybe the mum & other brother are in hiding & he would give it away??

hollyisalovelyname · 03/07/2017 12:42

Is the man in the water the LIS boy's father?
Killed by the mother or son/ sons.
I haven't a clue Smile

diddl · 03/07/2017 13:31

The one with LIS-wasn't he a soldier?

Maybe he has done something awful & they keep him sedated to stop him from finding out?

They are hiding him for some reason?

None of the are who they say they are & it's all made up?

NotCitrus · 03/07/2017 16:37

Is man in the water the petrol station blue van guy?

I'm wondering what Alan lied about - has he had an affair or a dodgy background similar to Leighton?

corythatwas · 03/07/2017 22:01

He probably is, NotCitrus, seemed about same build etc.

diddl · 03/07/2017 22:02

Looks like the same guy to me.

sogladweleftheUK · 04/07/2017 12:55

I think the only definite we have so far is that Nessie is a work of fiction. Had she been real, surely she would have eaten the heartless man at the bottom of the loch already Grin

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 04/07/2017 15:11

Maybe she's a vegetarian?

I have a huge aversion to people in dramas getting miraculously cured (eg anyone who's ever in a coma or ends up in a wheelchair in any soap...), but the fact that aneurysm-soldier may actually not have LIS makes this programme manageable.

Maybe Alan lied about seeing Nessie? Isn't he the one that was the believer?

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 04/07/2017 17:19

I've got a Netflix free trial atm, are there any similar programmes on there that anyone would recommend for me to binge watch?

Clawdy · 04/07/2017 21:01

This last episode was a bit silly. The Tench guy looming up behind the police woman with a knife, then pursuing her husband.......ridiculous storyline that is probably a red herring. Waste of time.

corythatwas · 04/07/2017 23:59

Clawdy, I reckon the only significance is to get Leighton off the hook: a) because redemption arc b) because he's going to be in custody when the next murder is committed.
