WhatTimeIsItCuckoo re Gettrick having slept with Nadia - he refers to this (I slept with her last week) in his tirade to the other guys just after they have rescued him from the now burning house.

It is at almost exactly 16 minutes into last night's episode.

Like a pp I have wondered whether she might have conceived, and if so who was the baby.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/11/2016 21:10

I was thinking that maybe gettrick had indoctrinated sophie against stone, hence her "how can you live with yourself" comment. OR she was saying to him that by setting herz up and going along with the whole scheme, he was effectively sentencing Sophie to life with gettrick when he had the chance to expose the whole thing and chose not to.

I just can't see that even if you were hiding the fact that you'd accidently killed a girl in Iraq, that that would be enough leverage (if you were otherwise a goodie) to keep quiet about what has been going on?

I think stone must be more involved

FabulouslyGlamourousFerret · 24/11/2016 21:39

I think it's time for a new thread Wink

GreatPointIAgreeWithYouTotally · 24/11/2016 21:44

I sure that Sam was unfaithful around the time of Alice's birth. KH made a point of saying he 'wasn't around' .

Sam has already described his affair with Eve and getting her pregnant as 'an accident'.

He seems 'accident' prone-I think there is a good chance he tripped over and landed with his cock in the near vicinity of someone's cervix, thus accidentally fathering whoever was in the burning shed.

Sam really irritates me; he hasn't grown up.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 24/11/2016 21:50

"Brig's own daughter Eve called him Sir at one point, suggesting he is a bully/dominant type."

I think you're reading too much into that. It was totally normal for the circumstances, because it was when they were both in uniform and were in public. In mufti, or uniformed and in private, she calls him 'Dad'. It's only when military etiquette demands it that she (Sgt) addresses him (Brig - 9 ranks her senior) formally (and salutes him, though another military error compliments are not returned).

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 24/11/2016 21:51

"KH made a point of saying he 'wasn't around'

I took that to mean he was in Iraq.

I think Eve is involved some how, in a not good way. But then again she gave the policeman the photograph to investigate ...

Pingpang · 24/11/2016 22:25

Can I ask a stupid question? Was Sam in Iraq as well?

Kr1stina · 24/11/2016 22:27

I thought that Sam wasn't around when Alice was small because he was deployed

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 24/11/2016 22:31

Though I think you've made a good point about atmosphere hesterton

I do think it was a normal exchange in a hierarchical organisation and so not indicative of anything specific about those two characters (because a son would also formally/publicly address his higher ranking mother as ma'am). But builds the feeling of a 'father' with power and the legit example counterpoints the abuse of power by captor to girls,

Pingpang · 24/11/2016 22:35

Okay, my theory... The 3 of us, as referred to by Brig, is Dk, Brig and Sam. Reid not included in the 3. Remember when Sam got melty faced and the doctor said he could get a graft or something? So it was going to be possible for him to get an operation to have some sort of cosmetic surgery. Then he came home and told Gemma something different, that it wasn't possible. So he's doing some sort of penance by keeping his melty face cos he was involved in the fire/death of the girl in Iraq.

Moodybuggle · 24/11/2016 22:38

I wonder if Eve is somehow connected to gettrick- maybe he's her godfather or something or an uncle

She looked uncomfortable hearing baptise tell the policeman

I think Eves pieced it together but can't admit it to herself that she's missed something that's been going on right under her nose and is guilt ridden - if there's any Adam/Eve archetype to the story then having her guilty but deceived makes sense!

OhCobblers · 24/11/2016 22:45

I've been lurking on these threads for ages and with all the detail you have for each episode, inspired me to go back to the beginning and rewatch!
The colour yellow is has been discussed. Is it used to show a clue or an important detail?
In episode one when Eve puts the dropped scan photo back on the fridge door there are coloured magnets. The is a b/w photo of 3 women (one being her) held in place by a yellow magnet. Eve is leaning against the fridge and yes rather pointed so that you see the b/w photo if you see what I mean???
When she cleans up after her father in another episode at his house she uses a yellow tea cloth?!
More importantly when Andreas, the Hertz' assistant in the shop, discovers blood on the floor then goes onto find Mrs hertz, the flooring is exactly the same as the flooring in Gettricks room where the basement door is found with yellow padlock??!!
Could be complete red herrings ??!! Will be watching episode 4-6 again tomorrow!!

OhCobblers · 24/11/2016 22:49

My last point is more about the flooring than the padlock. Could Andreas be involved? We have only seen him a couple of times?

LillianGish · 24/11/2016 22:59

I think the body in the shed DNA will be down to switching samples and the army being in charge of the investigation (unrealistic and unsatisfactory as that may be) It's effectively what Julien said Driller before he was arrested - something along the lines of "You were running the inquiry". It's also the reason why the search for Sophie was so unsatisfactory - culminating in the bunker and the butcher's receipt. The Iraq incident serves several purposes 1. It identified Driller as a paedophile early on 2. It explains why he had it in for the butcher's wife. 3. It links Stone, Reed and Driller (and Nadia - though she didn't appear to be aware of the full extent of what had happened) What it doesn't explain is why Stone and Reed would continue to cover for Driller in his abduction of girls when he got back to Germany. If it turns out that they continued to protect him so the Iraq incident would stay secret I will be very disappointed - they both seem appalled at his predilection for 13-year-olds so I can't see they would enable him to keep girls prisoner in his basement.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 24/11/2016 23:03

I wondering if driller had groomed Eve in some way especially as he was a family friend of Lena so maybe at some point he tried to seduce Eve when younger. I don't maybe looking into this way too much lol

Missanneshirley · 24/11/2016 23:20

It's possibly eve had a run in with get trick when she was younger but resisted his "charms" maybe now hearing baptiste accuse him and her thinking back will spur her into action?

weareliverpool90 · 24/11/2016 23:23

Pingpang - my theory too!! I think that there was a third man in the car that the captain woman didn't mention! I wanted to say it in the thread earlier today but didn't think anyone would think the same!!

MiddleClassProblem · 25/11/2016 01:24

Yeah I think if eve knows anything it would be an incident with DK from her childhood but maybe something that didn't get to the point of physical sexual abuse and as a child she didn't understand it but now in hindsight does or something happened and she either blocked it out or bottled it up and it was a one off and maybe told herself it was just etc.

1:25am ramblings, sorry!

EnidButton · 25/11/2016 04:10

😨 I really must stop catching up with the latest episode during bouts of insomnia. Was just thinking it was a frustrating episode and then they threw in an ending like that.

If they don't find her next week that'll be beyond frustrating.

MargotLovedTom · 25/11/2016 06:25

I mentioned up thread about the bald headed man from Iraq Baptiste hallucinated in the cookhouse, but didn't get any replies. Do you think Baptiste was hallucinating when he was being followed through the market?

Kr1stina · 25/11/2016 07:28

If stone is not involved in the abductions, why does he warn /threaten Alice /Sophie to keep her mouth shut and gain her freedom ?

I wonder if eve was abused by stone as a child and when she overhears the commemts by Baptiste she remembers the abuse or realises that he has not stoppped.
