Great point. Sophie didn't say she died just that she was close to death. No wonder she doesn't feel she can dob DK in if she has seen nobody gives a shit about whether she's dead or alive other than baptiste who called her out.

diddl · 24/11/2016 19:16

Disappointed.

Gettrick didn't deserve to be tortured, but he slept with a 13yr old!

Nadia was right in a way that he was just behaving like the others who were off base & there was no need to look for him.

Kr1stina · 24/11/2016 19:16

I think Sophie detests Adam and is playing along because she has seen what happened to Alice when she tried to escape and how Adam has punished her. Also because she is protecting the child whom she loves ( but may not have given birth to ) .

AnnieNoMouse · 24/11/2016 19:19

I've been thinking about this possibility all day, and I know it's highly unlikely, but I'll mention it anyway.
Could it have been the real Alice who returned? Perhaps she had been "misbehaving" for a while so Drilla put her in the bunker in the woods, from which she managed to escape. She gave Sophie's name in the ambulance because she wanted them to make the link and find Sophie.
She didn't choose to leave the shed that night but was abducted again, and has been in the basement ever since.
Pros: the returned "Alice" seems completely different in character to the Sophie we see afterwards, albeit they look identical!
Cons - loads

AnnieNoMouse · 24/11/2016 19:23

Lena - I think Drilla was grooming Lena and she ran away to him by choice. Drilla used her to help control the other two. Eg they were able to go to the fair because they had 2 guards not just the one. Then Lena tried to leave and Drilla killed her, and put her body in the shed.

The question remains as to what was going on with the camper van when Sophie walked by it? There seemed to be a dog tied up outside, but I don't think the dog is Sophie's? That suggests Lena is there, or was very recently, so couldn't be the body in the shed?

Baylisiana · 24/11/2016 19:26

I have probably missed something here, but how would Sophie have got a body into the shed? She would have needed help, also anything like that would be risky in terms of being noticed?

Elendon · 24/11/2016 19:26

Let's not forget that Sophie knew a lot about Alice: the nickname for her brother for example, so the girls talked together and exchanged information.

But both girls have had to perform to devious behaviour in order to survive. Perhaps Alice is the girl in the basement, rather like Adam Gatterick was when in Iraq (which is why she is still alive). It's twisted and shocking.

MillieMoodle · 24/11/2016 19:28

I watched the first episode again in light of what we know now and it's obvious that Baptiste thought the returned girl was Sophie from the start; when he went to visit her the first time she said the name Sophie with a French accent, and there was also the finger tapping thing.

Also it was DK who was in the room with Brig and the police chief when they were discussing everything and DK who said that the girl's identity should not be released. It was Brig's suggestion that the enquiry be run jointly between the police and army.

When "Alice" was telling the story in the hospital bed, Eve was present, as was another soldier with a red cap, but I don't think it was DK (assume as press officer he wouldn't have a red cap as they are for military police?)

There isn't anything else that I could see that was significant in light of what we know now.

Am re-watching each episode so I can get my fix until next Wednesday!

Elendon · 24/11/2016 19:30

Alice's family home is backing onto woods, unlike those of lesser rank whose homes back onto each other.

The body must have been hidden in the woods.

AnnieNoMouse · 24/11/2016 19:32

Sophie didn't put the body in the shed, Drilla did.

MillieMoodle · 24/11/2016 19:39

Accordingly to the Den of Geek review that someone posted a link to up thread, DK was the one who wanted to release Alice's name to the press. Maybe I need to watch it again!

diddl · 24/11/2016 19:41

Perhaps Lena became ill & died & that's why Sophie was allowed to go when ill.

Was Reed killed simply because Sophie was about to return as Alice?

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 24/11/2016 19:46

Watched last night's ep today and loved it. Reading the thread though, I missed the bit about Gettrick and Nadia sleeping together, when was that mentioned??

diddl · 24/11/2016 19:46

Is it relevent that there's an Adam & an Eve??

So, will Gemma & Baptiste get there in time to save Sophie, Alice & Lucy?

PiePieChickenPie · 24/11/2016 19:54

Did I imagine it at the end or was Alice wearing the Yellow Scarf that Gemma gave to Sophie?
Or did I just think it because she was wearing a similar grey coat to the one Sophie wore at that time?

Ollycat · 24/11/2016 19:55

We don't know who Lena's family are yet do we? Just that they are friends of DK.

Ollycat · 24/11/2016 19:57

If the Adam and Eve is relevant - Eve leads Adam into temptation and is responsible for his fall from grace ...

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 24/11/2016 19:57

Gettrick wears an ordinary khaki beret.

The cap badges - with the exception of Lt Col Reid's funeral picture - are all wrong fictitious though.

However, Red Cap = RMP.

shinynewusername · 24/11/2016 20:00

If the Adam and Eve is relevant - Eve leads Adam into temptation and is responsible for his fall from grace ...

Also Babylon (now Iraq) was the site of the "real" Garden of Eden, according to Biblical scholars*.

*other creation myths are available Wink

Elendon · 24/11/2016 20:06

I think we can safely say that Lena was a plot device to introduce Catterick as the killer and abductor. Poor Lena Sad

Dancergirl · 24/11/2016 20:19

Such good TV! I think this series is even better than Series 1.

Whoever posted the link to the timeline on denofgeek.com - THANK YOU, so helpful.

AnnieNoMouse · 24/11/2016 20:22

I think Alice is Driila's "favourite" despite, or because of, the fact she doesn't behave. Otherwise she's be dead by now.

Inkanta · 24/11/2016 20:25

Ah Annie think you have a point there!

Really hope Sophie wasn't referring to Iraq incident when she said to stone how can you live with yourself? That would be so disappointing. As would drilla framing herz 30 years after his wife let him down. That is some grudge and not believable to me. Even the Iraq incident was actually an anti climax for me, expected it to be far worse tbh.
