I reckon it will end next week with A LOT of unanswered questions, and then we'll all be on here demanding answers!! Lol

ClaireBlunderwood · 24/11/2016 11:54

I think real Alice and real Sophie have a vague resemblance to each other. Certainly the girls playing them when they were younger did (large blue eyes, unusual given the brown-eyed parents).

I don't think real Alice has much of a resemblance to Rollercoaster Girl but as discussed, Rollercoaster Girl most resembles a middle-aged man.

It's lost children and lost mothers isn't it? As well as no knowledge of Eve's mother, where is Daniel Reed's?

ewanthedreamsheep · 24/11/2016 11:55

I just can't see the iraqi girl being eve's sister - way too far fetched. I think the iraq story is all played out last night and the only ongoing element is that it could be used for leverage against reed & stone.

IsItNotTimeThatIDid · 24/11/2016 12:09

British society NotPennysBoat for a start (don't mistake what you think as being societies general opinion), and definitely any patriarchal society.

Any rape trial where a young (but gone through puberty) girl is considered more mature than is expected of her age shows this attitude.

Comments taken from Radio times episode summary for next week...

Not that we are entirely let off the hook by writers Jack and Harry Williams, who keep something up their sleeves that will probably bring a tear to your jaded eye.

But it’s poignant in parts and there’s one good moment when you’ll think – and this is down entirely to some very subtle acting by those involved – “Ah, I see, it seems so obvious now.”

ktel1 · 24/11/2016 12:22

It seems strange to me that it would be revealed in the Radio Times that there are no major revelations in the final episode?

MiddleClassProblem · 24/11/2016 12:31

Just caught up and proud that my Reed medic prediction was right and that he was prob brought in to help Sophie with her appendicitis but wouldn't keep the secret so was offed.

I'm glad it's not a paedo ring and "just" army loyalty stuff.

Anonymum40 · 24/11/2016 12:54

I'm pretty sure Reed will have a pretty big part in next week's shenanigans as the actor who plays him in the modern day, that we've only seen in photographs so far (and dead), is a fairly well known actor. Unless the BBC are on to people sussing that sort of thing out!

Dickorydockwhatthe · 24/11/2016 13:08

So who was the girl in the shed and where did she come from I'm so confused 😖

MiddleClassProblem · 24/11/2016 13:22

Yeah, still find it odd that Brian Bovell will only be in one ep! I thought they would use him more

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 24/11/2016 13:24

This is a bit out there, but what if Gattrick as a "friend of the family" was the sperm donor father of Lena? It seems really odd he would have been anyone's family friend out of the army but family friend as a euphemism fits (if unlikely).

The writers do like to have themes and thinks and parentage has been a consistent one.

Then all Gattrick has to do is swap the samples from the father with one from himself. We don't know how the test was done. If it was a cheek swab it could have been given to Sam to do and then hung about a bit in the room ready for a swap with Gattrick who was also hanging about. He was hanging about due to the story being leaked - I think he leaked the story himself regardless of the rest of this wild post!

However I think it's a bit far fetched unless there is a wider, plausible story about sperm donors/donation we don't know. Perhaps that's part of what the Brig was involved in?

The Brig puzzles me because of his chat with fake Alice and his keeness for her to ID the butcher.

Elendon · 24/11/2016 13:29

For those wanting every little nuance tied up nicely, including me, I think we are in for a disappointment:

"As ever with a complicated, many-stranded thriller, not everything hangs together, but try to let any plot holes pass you by and go with the flow."

I can't get that Sophie is jealous of Alice. What I do get is that she abhors Adam Gatterick. Reed probably thought he should have left him to rot.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/11/2016 13:30

Also looking forward to finding how deep Brig is an as we know he knows Sophie.

Elendon · 24/11/2016 13:31

Oh and if Gatterick can fake the DNA, he can also fake passports and identity cards. Getting from Germany to Switzerland is not a problem.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 24/11/2016 13:35

I think it's an open border to Switzerland?

I don't think Gattrick can fake DNA. I think at best he could swap samples.

I'll be really disappointed if they do something completely ridiculous using artistic licence.

Elendon · 24/11/2016 13:35

It's a brilliant performance from Keeley Hawes Passadena.

I've been there!

MiddleClassProblem · 24/11/2016 13:36

I reckon the DNA fake will just be as simple as either just faking it completely or swabbing Sam and burning up some Alice hair or something and sending it off/swap it with samples for the sake of the plot rather than reality

WidowTwonky · 24/11/2016 14:01

I liked the nod to Missing series 1 last night. Tony Hughes Wink

shinynewusername · 24/11/2016 14:01

I don't think the actual DNA sampling was faked. All Drilla had to do was change the result in the patient records or - even simpler - just lie to Keeley and Eve about what the test showed. Neither of them had any reason to question it and demand to see the original lab report.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 24/11/2016 14:08

Can some one tell me who was the girl in the shed?? I can't remember who Lena was I must of missed that bit.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/11/2016 14:09

Lena is the third girl on the rollercoaster who the young police guy finds in missing records and calls the fan who say they know Adam so that's why he went to visit him and thus met his maker

MiddleClassProblem · 24/11/2016 14:09

*fam not fan

Elendon · 24/11/2016 14:15

Actually re the DNA, if Getterick was holding Alice then the DNA could easily have been swapped or faked.

Elendon · 24/11/2016 14:17

Lena went missing and was the third girl in the Roller Coaster photo, wearing Alice's necklace. Jorn, the lovely German policeman, discovered that Lena's family was connected to Adam Gatterick. That's why he went to his house and was killed by a drill to the head.
