The Night Manager - Anyone looking forward to it?

I'm not familiar with the story, but the trailers for it look awesome.

I can't see anything with both Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston in, as well as Olivia Colman being bad, can you?

I wish I did. I've really tried, over decades, but there's always something opaque, something I'm not getting, that makes his books particularly enjoyable for other people but not for me.

It's not a problem with codes or culture either - I was highly disappointed never to have my shoulder tapped at university - I'm wondering if it's that I always look for a subtext that isn't actually there.

I find the codes and culture stuff quite hard - it's not a world I know anything about. Plus my general geopolitical knowledge isn't very good either! But I like the way he describes his characters and locations and creates tension.

I've just gone back and actually watched that clip of Tom H on that show singing with the host. I think he has overtaken even Jason Isaacs in my affections

just saw the ending. and what a good ending.
love the fact that Jed and Pine/Birch did not walk off into the sunset together.
aside from that annoyance, great comeuppance for Hugh Lawrie

Totally ignoring the whole series thingy, the woman who did the Jed haircut was on Woman's hour a couple of weeks ago. It was a big discussion point... you could deffo look it up....

I have just binge watched this and it was brilliant. Hugh Laurie and Tom Hollander made the series for me. Is the new one worth watching?
