I'm not familiar with the story, but the trailers for it look awesome.

I can't see anything with both Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston in, as well as Olivia Colman being bad, can you?

There was a continuity error with the code for the safe- he missed out the 9 in his phone message.

thecatfromjapan · 27/03/2016 22:23

The internecine war between Olivia's department (if it survives) and the shadier branches of the Secret Service will continue.

This was a battle lost for shady MI6 - for whom TWMAITW is 'our kind of WMAITW' - not the entire war.

The WMITW will explain to angry client and thugs that, if they want to see their 300 mill again, they need to let him free, and a deal will be struck with the Egyptian authorities.

There are all sorts of ways there can be a Night Manager 2 - even with all the same characters, not just different ones!

Yay!

thecatfromjapan · 27/03/2016 22:25

Polly you are so sharp-eyed!

I love Tom Hardy. I'd love him in Bond. Hope Tom Hiddlestone doesn't do Bond - he won't be able to do anything else.

witsender · 27/03/2016 22:26

Hiddles would be an awful Bond...he's very pretty but too soft and delicate looking...he's got no edge.

LadyPeterWimsey · 27/03/2016 22:27

Roper's gonna be dead.

If they kill him they will never get their money back. Roper will tell them Pine has the money and then they will all be after Pine, vowing horrible revenge.

His nasty hench men are gonna be dead.

Maybe.

Corky's dead.

True, no coming back from that.

Jed/jem (wtf was it?!) has gone home
Pine is probs going to follow her and 'commit' (he can't bring that one night stand back from the dead can he?)

I don't think she would be in a second season, but Roper might go after her to get to Pine.

Olivia Colman did want she wanted and is going to have a bubba. Though not much of a career to go back to.

Only if Roper is really out of action.

Man from homeland is ok.

And could be promoted on account of his excellent work.

Hailo has been scuppled

But Geoffrey Darker and all the bad men at the River House live to fight another day.

LadyPeterWimsey · 27/03/2016 22:28

Sorry, that was in response to ethelb - forgot to bold.

Thethingswedoforlove · 27/03/2016 22:28

Polly there was no 9 in the message- the last digit was a 6 and she moved the disc from the 9 to the 6 which was above it to make it less obvious to roper who was watching

Thethingswedoforlove · 27/03/2016 22:29

In the code I meant polly no 9 in the code

thecatfromjapan · 27/03/2016 22:30

T Hiddlestone would be a different Bond to DC. I could see him being very polished. I thought he was OK at ruthless. I could see him making Bond look a bit more intelligent than the usual Bond. Hiddlestone somehow has an aura of intellectuality about him - even when all he seems to be doing is modelling a well-cut suit. Don;t know how he does that.

AGazeofRaccoons · 27/03/2016 22:31

I liked it in general, but was left a little perturbed by his tendency to shag women right after they've been beaten and tortured. Just kept thinking - what about the bruises and the cuts and the general trauma?

BossWitch · 27/03/2016 22:32

So, what are we going to watch now? This has made my Sundays for 6 weeks, what now?!

(Other than repeated drooling over TH on iplayer, obviously.)

AGazeofRaccoons · 27/03/2016 22:33

thecat - he's got this perfectly vacant look to him that makes you think there must be something very complex going on in there surely? Grin

LumelaMme · 27/03/2016 22:33

Loved the arms blowing up (I was actually sitting down for that bit rather than avoiding the tense stuff by tidying up the living room).

LadyPeterWimsey · 27/03/2016 22:33

thecatfromjapan he is obviously not such a good actor that he can hide the Cambridge double first...

Awholelottanosy · 27/03/2016 22:35

Just found this article, it's quite good on the differences. And OC was really pregnant!

www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-03-27/the-director-of-the-night-manager-on-adapting-john-le-carr-for-the-small-screen-and-the-21st-century

GypsyFl0ss · 27/03/2016 22:37

Loved Hugh Laurie and Tom Hollander, Olivia Coleman as always was wonderful and really pregnant in that too...fair play to her...I wonder how much of her bump was extra? But Tom Hiddleston just is so bland. The only time I saw any reaction was when he hugged his old mate from the kitchen and seems genuinely pleased to see him.

witsender · 27/03/2016 22:39

Yes, the other Tom H was a scene stealer for me

lorelei9here · 27/03/2016 22:40

Gypsy, seriously you found Hiddle bland? Even when he hugged Burr?

BossWitch · 27/03/2016 22:43

He does tend to play clever characters, doesn't he? Although he was Cassio in Othello on stage a few years back, he's pretty much a nice-but-dim character.

Can't make my mind up on him as Bond though. I think he might be too pretty - and too nice! Not sure he'd take it anyway, I get the feeling it would be a little bit low-brow for him, and he seems to be going with quite artsy stuff now that he's finished being Loki. Can't see him signing up for another big franchise.

AGazeofRaccoons · 27/03/2016 22:44

I said to DH just before last week's episode how much I was enjoying Tom Hollander. Then they killed him off Angry

I agree about Tom Hidds being bland. Pretty, but vacant. I got no sense of motivation or emotion from him at all.

GypsyFl0ss · 27/03/2016 22:46

Ok , when he hugged Burr he was less bland but generally yes I do find him a bit meh in the looks and acting stakes.I know it's a personal thing , in that I just don't do blonde men... not after fancying one for a long time as teenager into to find out that he batted for Darrington and everyone knew bar me!

TheSpottedZebra · 27/03/2016 22:46

I liked that the always-overlooked chap who worked with Burr, got to stick it to the besuited Tobias, whilst wearing a cardie, in cold basement. The next one should be about him - the mouse that roared.

PollyPerky · 27/03/2016 22:47

Polly there was no 9 in the message- the last digit was a 6 and she moved the disc from the 9 to the 6 which was above it to make it less obvious to roper who was watching

Ah- but when she tried to put the docs back in the safe and the code didn't work, she entered a 9 as well as a final 6. 24796

GypsyFl0ss · 27/03/2016 22:48

Tom Hollander is wonderful and I could easily fancy him in all his little glory Grin
I'm still ploughing my way through the book and enjoying reading his part in his luvvy drawl!

GypsyFl0ss · 27/03/2016 22:50

I think she just got flustered with the safe as she knew she didn't have long and couldn't remember whether it was a 9 or 6.
