The trailer for the second series of The Night Manager has been released.

The first episode is set to air on 1 January 2026!

Anyone else can't wait for this? All the talk over the years about a second series and it's almost here!

And Series 3 has been given the greenlight, too.

It's a wig! I ended up down an instagram rabbit hole. I was astonished at how many actors wear wigs. Not outlandish or glamorous or radically different to their own hair necessarily. Just ordinary looking hair for the most part. Incredibly realistic too. Must cost a fortune. Tom H has several for his part in this.

No. Way.

I'm firmly here for the I Love His Hair In This camp, so I'm a tiny bit devastated to learn it's not actually his own... (and it so is NOT a mullet!)

I thought TH ‘s reply to Graham Norton, when asked whether Roper was really dead, was … interesting.

Ooohhh what did he say?

MayIDestroyYou · 05/01/2026 15:00

Hard to describe it - he shuffled about, verbally. You’d need to watch / hear it. (December 31st.)

bestbefore · 05/01/2026 15:03

Anyone else find the dialogue a little unbelievable? The bits where they met for drinks and tennis. Just not v sophisticated but they are supposed to be!

Yes! I thought it was drivel and utterly ridiculous.

Thats how I am starting to feel about the whole series ☹️. I think I’ll give up.

Agree, none of it rings true. Why are they all constantly having extremely sensitive conversations in public areas like hotel lobbies where they can easily be overheard as well? The conversation between the woman and him at the party was ridiculous. They were so close to other people and it was an incredibly sensitive conversation on which their lives depended.

Fizbosshoes · 05/01/2026 17:30

I cant understand why they even invited him to a fundraiser after meeting him briefly on a tennis court.....and why did he trust Roxanna (again) when one of his team had already been killed due to her....

And how could he nearly drown after overdosing ....but then remember all the lies hes got to keep up with. Tbf id have trouble remembering my name when it changes as often as his!

It is drivel but like series1 the glamour and scenery make it watchable.

Hiddleston is wrong in the role imo, all drippy and awkward. James Norton or similar would've been more convincing. Bad hairdo Tom just looks too wet and unconvincing. He should've channelled a bit of Loki's darkness.

He should have just cut his hair and not be greasy mullet man for half of it!

It is ridiculous, and I was so looking forward to it.

It's like bad fanfiction gone even more wrong.

I think I'm going to see how Ep 3 pans out, but I was sleepwatching through Ep 2 it was so dull, so I don't fancy my chances on getting to the end.

Teddy's house was nice and the hotels and views are very swish so the cinematography is a 10/10..

I do hope Aye Up Angela comes barging in and sorts it all out again.

Tootingbec · 05/01/2026 19:24

Oh it is disappointing isn’t it? Roper and Corky were such great characters and played with the right levels of menace (Tom H) and superficial charm (Hugh) to make them genuinely scary as like walking on egg shells around them.

Teddy is just “generic Latin American drug Lord” vibes which is just not convincing.

And so many plot holes - how is Sally accessing all the MI5 systems if she is suspended/in the dog house? Oh and just travel to Columbia without her bosses being alerted? And Basil can just dip into seized funds without a flag going up somewhere in M15?!?

It’s making me cross as Season 1 was so good and brilliantly plotted/character driven that any little plot holes didn’t matter!

Glittergargoyle · 05/01/2026 20:04

"Thought it was a bit naff that Teddy turns out to be Roper's son."

Agreed, I rolled my eyes at that. It would be much more interesting if Rex was his father and Rex is actually a baddie (might explain how he bought his country house....)

Raisondeetre · 05/01/2026 20:07

I wonder who the writer is . It’s a poor show.

Edited

I assumed Rex had a nice education and came from an upper middle class type background, otherwise that house was inexplicable.
As was his speech at the party. Hundreds of people in attendance who all work with him or family who are fully in the know about his work? Alrighty then.

I know the service are more transparent these days but it didn’t feel very credible to me.

OMG I'm so surprised at these comments, I think S2 has the potential to be amazing, I'm loving it already 😍

BreakfastOfWaffles · 06/01/2026 04:33

Most importantly, who's looking after Corky the cat in Pine's extended time away?!

MayIDestroyYou · 06/01/2026 06:33

His eager looking neighbour, who the cat already likes?

I got the impression he wasn't keen on encouraging her interest, but I guess needs must. I don't imagine he's an "ask a local teenager" type of guy 😁

Me too. I'm liking it. Not feeling any of the negatives expressed in the above comments.

Though I feel the concerns about Corky the cat will need to be addressed by the writers at some point If they aren't, I'll be disappointed.

Maybe they’d invite anyone who they could see was wealthy? They weren’t shy about asking him to donate! He also presents himself as someone who is of that world of the very wealthy, so they presumably recognised him as one of their sort.

I'm not sure he trusts Roxana; isn’t she just a way in to Teddy’s world?

Northerndoglover · 10/01/2026 16:04

Finally episode 3 tomorrow. I should have been more careful and not watched 1 and 2 together. It feels like an age since the 1st. I’ve almost forgotten what went on.

daffodilandtulip · 10/01/2026 20:11

I'm not really getting into this. Needs more Angela too.
