I'm not familiar with the story, but the trailers for it look awesome.

I can't see anything with both Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston in, as well as Olivia Colman being bad, can you?

Amazed Jed survived! Apart from the amazing self-ironing suit, Tree didn't do anything obviously stupid this episode, so I enjoyed it much more than the previous one. Proper edge-of-seat stuff.

And as a civil servant, was giggling at the "it was his last day!" part. It happens...

RattusRattus · 28/03/2016 23:36

Two things: when Burr and her US compadre asked him why he derailed the Syrian exchange Pine says that it wasn't him it was "one of your guys" and Burt replies with "Corcoran?" So was Corky a spy too?

Second: did you notice that Pine ordered a Vodka Martini. Def lining up the Bond role there!

GypsyFl0ss · 29/03/2016 06:04

I thought Angela said Corkoran in response to Pine stating that he had to kill a man rather than in response to it was one of your guys?

I started rewatching again yesterday and was laughing at the big cow eyes that Pine and Jed kept making at each other. Even if Roper didn't have doubts about them they were doing a pretty good job of signposting it all by themselves!

bsmirched · 29/03/2016 08:28

Re Jed's injuries etc, I assumed those very final scenes were days/weeks later.

Obs2016 · 29/03/2016 09:14

It was good. Very tense to watch. Even I spotted the continuity issue re his now dry suit and non wet shoes. Thought the ending was a bit too clean cut and neat and tidy.
But really enjoyed it.

... such as...
Where can I find earrings like these?

DP has suggested Jonathan buys a hotel with his millions and gets to be a DAY MANAGER Grin

MissBattleaxe · 29/03/2016 10:02

Lila! That's so funny. After blowing up the explosives, conning a global arms dealer out of 300m, getting the moll, double crossing MI6 and killing several people, he finally gets to come off the night shift! Surely applying for a promotion would have been easier? Smile

Drinksforeveryone · 29/03/2016 10:34

Nice one Lila ;)

Yes, adventures they are lovely earrings. I want her hair too.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 29/03/2016 11:06

My hair is similar to Jed's in that it's short (but not blond or coiffured or falling over my eyes - that would so annoy me) Grin

AdventuresOfADentist · 29/03/2016 11:29

Blush drinks I thought I'd attached a picture... Will try again...

I thought the $300 m was part of the plan and discussed with Burr but who knows.... I did really enjoy the ending. But seeing Tree as Loki last night has disturbed me somewhat.

I liked the ending when he was with the Night Manager. Full circle and all that.

Gruach · 29/03/2016 19:27

So ...this happened. Telegraph article.

Gruach · 29/03/2016 19:29

And the show is being discussed on Ftomt Row (R4) right now.

Trills · 29/03/2016 19:51

The BBC drama's dramatic final episode was also criticised by viewers after Hiddlestone's character Jonathan Pine was seen with dry suit trousers despite dragging murdered enemy Freddie Hamid into a swimming pool.

This bothered me more than holding Jed's head underwater. That seemed totally in keeping with what Roper and co were like.

HalleLouja · 29/03/2016 20:12

I didn't think of the Jed scene as domestic violence just as the way Roper would treat traitors. I was surprised she lived more than anything.

Gruach · 29/03/2016 20:19

I didn't even find it convincing as "violence". In reality they'd have killed her but the script was rather concerned with keeping the beautiful young beautiful.

And I also felt a bit queasy about Tree's fondness for bruised women.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 29/03/2016 20:50

to be fair he liked the bruised women before they got bruised

he would have been much less gallant if he'd gone UGH NO I CAN'T YOU LOOK AWFUL UGH

BossWitch · 29/03/2016 20:51

Surely Jed being tortured isn't domestic violence? It's an arms dealer torturing a person who has betrayed him, that she is his girlfriend had nothing to do with his treatment of her.

I've other issues with the presentation of Jed - mostly lots of gratuitous shots of her in underwear - but I didn't see this as a problem. And, in fairness, there were plenty of gratuitous shots of half naked Hiddles as well.

Trills · 29/03/2016 21:39

The violence wasn't even being done by her partner, it was being done by a henchman.

AdventuresOfADentist · 29/03/2016 21:59

Grin trills
I also thought Jed got off lightly, all things considered.
