I'm not familiar with the story, but the trailers for it look awesome.

I can't see anything with both Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston in, as well as Olivia Colman being bad, can you?

"support operative in a dynamic interface", if you will.

and agreeing with the ? mark over whether it was an act of DV. It wasn't specific to their relationship at all. As has been said, anyone crossing his lordship would have met a similar fate. And of course he delegated the act to a support operative who was acting in a dynamic interface. No inter-personal malice intended. Just business.

Just glimpsed the newspaper front pages on Twitter and someone (think in The Independent) is saying Hugh Laurie should be the next Bond.Star

I have little interest in James Bond but I'd vote for that.Grin

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 30/03/2016 08:28

loathe Bond but I'd watch that Grin

NeverEverAnythingEver · 30/03/2016 08:50

The Prince Regent for Bond, Blackadder for Q, Melchett for the sidekick and Queenie for the Evil Mastermind.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 30/03/2016 08:50

I don't know why I said that. I think I'm a bit bored.

mercifulTehlu · 30/03/2016 17:19

Nope - definitely Hiddles for Bond! Hugh Laurie is great but he's surely not far off 60 - a little old to be playing 007 no?

OnlyLovers · 30/03/2016 17:37

Tom looked awesome in the pale grey suit with white shirt and open-necked shirt.

Jed's hair on the casino night was gorgeous, but her tit-tape/nipple shields showed up a mile off.

[frivolous]

I quite liked it, all told, although it was a bit silly. I liked Pine greeting his old friend from the hotel kitchen; he looked relaxed and genuine for about the first time, although I couldn't help wondering if that was just yet another of his 'many selves' and an act like all of them.

mercifulTehlu · 30/03/2016 17:47

I think when it comes down to it, I just don't really object to it being frivolous and not very believable. The world of espionage, arms dealers and glamorous mansions is so far from real life to me that I'd be prepared to believe many quite preposterous things of those kinds of people! A gripping storyline, some glamorous locations and some beautiful people in lovely clothes are all I need from this kind of show Grin. I love Bond (particularly the recent ones), and this occupies similar ground for me.

GypsyFl0ss · 30/03/2016 17:58

Deffo Hugh for Bond. I was just thinking that this morning. Sexy with gravitas.

AmericanPastoral · 30/03/2016 19:21

Tom being adorable on the Stephen Colbert show.

recyclingbag · 30/03/2016 20:04

Many is the time when I would be recounting some Russian news story that is picked up and DH would interrupt and gently ask whether it was in actual fact an episode of Spooks Blush

NeverEverAnythingEver · 30/03/2016 20:18

AmericanPastoral That was very sweet. :)

Gruach · 30/03/2016 20:43

recycling GrinGrin

I think the Hugh Laurie thing may have been mostly joking - but I didn't actually see the whole article.

limitedperiodonly · 31/03/2016 11:45

I know Drumgoole was Halo and was taking kickbacks from Roper and giving him information, but what was the other codename and who was it?

Was it someone else in the meeting chaired by Katherine Kelly where Burr was questioned on the failed raid and stripped of her department? Was it Katherine Kelly? I know that Burr wouldn't name Pine because she knew Drumgoole was a traitor, but was there someone else?

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 31/03/2016 11:50

I thought it was the smug looking feller with the sort of stretched face who was always at Dromgoole's shoulder

I believe the modern term for this is a sideman

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 31/03/2016 11:51

In other news. Son had to tell me that Angela Burr's sideman (not the one off the archers, the bloke) was Faisal off of Four Lions

limitedperiodonly · 31/03/2016 12:03

Thanks. I keep meaning to watch Four Lions. It's got Riz Ahmed in it too. He has lovely eyes.

cherrytree63 · 31/03/2016 15:59

Four Lions is hilarious!

GypsyFl0ss · 31/03/2016 16:44

I can't remember the other code name but I think she was the American CIA woman.

AdventuresOfADentist · 31/03/2016 17:11

muddha which one from the archers was in TNM?

Also love Four Lions. Burr's sideman is called Adeel Akhtar and is great in everything I've seen him in. Particularly Utopia and the Stellan Skarsgard thing recently.

Disclaimer: I'm not his agent/PR.

OnlyLovers · 31/03/2016 17:45

River! THAT'S the other thing he was in. Thanks Dentist; that's been annoying me.

shakeatailfeather · 01/04/2016 23:32

AmericanPastoral Thank you so much for linking to that interview! Adorable is totally the word!!

AmericanPastoral · 02/04/2016 09:15

Pleasure Smile shakeatailfeather. He just seems to be a decent, funny guy. I didn't know he studied Classics.

mercifulTehlu · 02/04/2016 09:20

I'm now half way through reading TNM. It's not the kind of thing I usually read, but am really enjoying it. I do like Le Carré's writing style.
