I have finally figured out what programme the sidekick in Torchwood (had to use turn-on-spray to get the girl and boy in first episode) was in.

He was absolute brilliant and was my favourite character in it.

'Bleak House' - Guppy.

Have to use matchsticks to stay up till 10.00 p.m. Jack is not as charasmatic as Christopher but hey ho ....its early days.

bea · 06/11/2006 08:52

flippin' 'eck! i forgot it was on last ni ght... i got caught up with trying to get the ring to mordor!!!! - even though i've been on the quest before!!!!

bran · 06/11/2006 09:10

Yes, I finally figured out who Owen reminded me of last night too, it's been bothering me since Torchwood started. It's the cartoon within a cartoon characters on South Park, the one's the South Park kids watch on TV. They're called Terence and something? They have straight across mouths and they talk by moving the top part of their head and keeping their jaw still.

Was Toshiko Saffron's geeky friend in Ab Fab?

bettys · 06/11/2006 09:26

You need imdb for all those answers

bran · 06/11/2006 10:08

Wow, she's worked a lot hasn't she?

AshNotTheHousewaresOne · 06/11/2006 13:00

gareth david-lloyd (who plays ianto jones) was in the russell t davies comedy 'mine all mine' bizarrely playing a character called yanto jones!....it's a small world (but not so small that you could paint it).

bookends · 06/11/2006 13:01

Bleak House is brilliant nickie and so very sad - being a mum myself I blubbed lots of times!

lol bran the southpark reference...can see the similarities though. Liked him in Bleak House, thats the actor not his doppleganger in South Park.

Well was your quest successful bea, was the ring smudged and covered in muck and needed a good clean? I fell asleep - blame snotty cold and cough. Will try and catch Torchwood. If anyone saw it was it good, should I make the effort?

last nights 'wood was top!....had everything you could want from a teevee show....half converted cybes, big silver pants, a dinosaur, some snogs and some gwen saying the phrase 'hard one'.....which is probably what all the fanboys had whilst watching it (myself excluded of course lol).

lemonaid · 06/11/2006 13:10

Last night's was certainly the best so far.

AshNotTheHousewaresOne · 06/11/2006 13:11

oh, is it getting better? I was just about going to give up on it

MrsDoolittle · 06/11/2006 14:59

I was just going to start a thread on this one. I think it's cracking.
I really fancy Captain Jack though. My friend said that he was a horrible judge on 'Maria'. Can someone enlighten me?

AshNotTheHousewaresOne · 06/11/2006 15:42

ooooh you NEED a capt jack toy like mine!!! 5" of pure plastic pleasure! lol

MrsDoolittle · 06/11/2006 15:42

Ooops he's gay - such a shame.

nikkie · 06/11/2006 18:55

Why would you sneak up on a clearing, hid yourself behind a bush and then use a FLASH on your camera?

lemonaid · 12/11/2006 22:07

and if you did use a flash the resulting picture wouldn't look like that.

trying2bgood · 12/11/2006 22:14

Am watching it now, have been watching it since the beginning. I am still not sure about it although last week was much better. My dh is a fan now, I will see how this week goes!

Loved Captain Jack in Dr who, feel they have watered him down a bit in this series.

willandsamsmum · 12/11/2006 22:55

If ever there was a man that deserved to get a demon's hand shoved down his throat, it was that womans boyfriend! He was just so horrible and I actually gasped when he hit that little girl. Capt'n Jack was great (for 'great' read 'hot') as always.

serenity · 12/11/2006 22:59

She was a precocious little brat though (no excuse for hitting obviously) I'd think I'd be quite glad to have her disappear off to fairyland

This was the first episode where I felt the need to hide my eyes, those things were creepy!

lemonaid · 12/11/2006 23:03

I didn't quite follow the point of the end, though. Surely they'll be back? I recorded it for DH, maybe I need to watch it again without trying to Mumsnet at the same time.

nikkie · 13/11/2006 20:58

I love the bits where the march in all professional and Gwen trails behind

lalaa · 16/11/2006 11:20

Help: found the ending to be really garbled. Did Captain Jack say something about child not living forever if she was taken by them? And if so, does it follow that he was a chosen one who refused to go with them and now has the burden of living forever?

Or am I making this up now?
