I have finally figured out what programme the sidekick in Torchwood (had to use turn-on-spray to get the girl and boy in first episode) was in.

He was absolute brilliant and was my favourite character in it.

'Bleak House' - Guppy.

Have to use matchsticks to stay up till 10.00 p.m. Jack is not as charasmatic as Christopher but hey ho ....its early days.

Yeah is Drs hand and that is what was happening at the end, but the machine/hand was also doing something at the start!

If you are taking it seriously what am I doing?
I'm obsessed have even been trawling fan sites and joined outpost gallifrey (but haven't posted )

bea · 03/01/2007 22:44

i'm all confused.. and normally i'm not so bad at these things so i'm all a bit... ... what is it about the hand... i saw capn jack die with the daleks in dr who,... but never saw the coming back to life... was he pissed at the dr??? why?? what is it with the hand..? will he be back at the beginnning of series three of dr who then?

sorry if i'm a complete idiot with these questions... as they maybe pretty obvious... but i've literally lost the plot!!!!

does this serve me right for missing the odd dr who eps and torchwood eps and relying too much on a friend who dvd's them and then sends me the missing ones????

Bucketsofdynomite · 03/01/2007 23:04

It's because he's Jesus, that's why it's all so confusing. He's allowed to work in mysterious ways.

nikkie · 03/01/2007 23:07

He came back to life in the same epidode as he died, ROse/badwolf/time vortex said'I bring life' and he came back to life .AFAIK the doctor doesn't actually know but Jack thinks the Dr did it and then abandoned him on the gamestation.

the hand was the Drs that was chopped off by the Sycorax in the Christmas invasion.Jack was keeping it!

JAck wanted to meet the dr either to get his questions answered or because he loved the Dr or both.Jack also thinks that Rose died as that was on the official records from the cyber/dalek/torchwood1 war.

nikkie · 03/01/2007 23:10

Jack is back in Dr who next series but then back to Torchwood for series 2.
Think that 'end of days' is happening at the same time as episode 10 or 11 of the next series of Dr Who.So we don't actually see Jack til episode 11 ish.Hopefully see 'end of days' from the Dr/Marthas perspective.

nikkie · 03/01/2007 23:11

Oh shit I'm turning (very quickly) into a Dr who geek

trying2bgood · 03/01/2007 23:23

ok, enjoyed the ending of first torchwood series although feel it has a lot of work to do on the whole character front. Far too much time is spent on Gwen and the other characters are not developed enough for my liking.

Also is captain jack meant to be gay now? I know the actor who plays him is but am a little confused as he was all over Rose in Dr who, had a wartime sweetheart who he loved (the old lady in the fairies episode) yet it is being implied I think that he and the welsh guy (cannot spell his name) are lovers. I don't mind either way as I am more interested in the aliens but feel the show is lacking consistency in their characters, and their personalities adapt according to the 'story line'.

Am sure some of you will disagree with me.

Bucketsofdynomite · 03/01/2007 23:26

No, he was clearly bi in Dr Who, Christopher Eccleston thought he was in with a chance.

trying2bgood · 03/01/2007 23:30

I missed that! I think he was right, as the smile on Jack's face when he heard the tardis is a mixture of love and adulation!

so is he sleeping with the welsh guy?
also when tosh could read minds, she found out that he was severely depressed - they should explore this!

nikkie · 03/01/2007 23:31

Capt Jack is apparantly 'omnisexual' sleeps with anything
In Dr who he mentions men and women he slept with (his executioner spring to mind )

Think you mean Ianto I love that name (and him )

nikkie · 03/01/2007 23:34

WHen Tosh could read mind Jacks was blank.'Like he was dead' but later on he projected his thoughts to her.

Ianto was depressed 'cos it was just after Lisa and the others had forgotten it already

noseymum · 03/01/2007 23:56

Yeah, Jack has definitely said he sleeps with Men, women ad Aliens. ;)

noseymum · 03/01/2007 23:57

Ooops sorry, that should say "and Aliens".

trying2bgood · 04/01/2007 00:00

yes nikki meant Ianto! Just wish they would explore him and tosh a bit more as I think they could be interesting. Gwen is lovely but we know her a far bit, she will always be the 'emotional' one, and owen is annoying although now he has gone a bit alien, who knows what the future will bring!

I don't even love torchwood that much yet here I am analysing it! Can't wait for life on mars, dr who and battlestar galactica return - do you see the theme?

noseymum · 04/01/2007 00:01

Oooh life on mars! When's that back?

nikkie · 04/01/2007 00:10

Did think these last two showed more Tosh and Ianto (thought he was fab taking on Owen ).Think there is more to come from Owen now he has become more 'serious'

Not sure about Life on Mars on another series, liked the first one but wanted him to wake at the end .

noseymum · 04/01/2007 08:35

I know they filmed a second and final series of Life on Mars. I just don't know when it's due to be shown.

DumbledoresGirl · 04/01/2007 09:44

Re Bran's religious symbolism stuff: of course, all that was obvious to me at the time. They even had Jack lying on the slab for three days (Tosh said something to Gwen about "it's been 3 days now".

And then that fantastic bit when Owen faces the resurrected Christ oops sorry, Jack, and Jack says somethng like "I forgive you" or did I dream that bit up?

I loved the ending. I love Jack and Owen and Ianto (not fussy me!) and even Gwen, but I do think Tosh is a bit too drippy (plus the scientific stuff passes me by, regretably!)

Bucketsofdynomite · 04/01/2007 16:30

That's because oriental women are always underwritten as prim goodietwoshoes brainiacs in Western fiction. Would love her to get some backbone and a bit of selfishness.

nikkie · 04/01/2007 20:58

Think there will be more Tosh in the next series and hopefully more Ianto too, much more left to develop than Gwen/Owen

foxinsocks · 05/01/2007 19:05

meant to say thanks Orinoco for the Waking the Dead info!

JackieNo · 06/01/2007 22:33

I know I'm coming to this thread very late, but I only managed to watch the last part of Torchwood last night, so didn't want to get any sneak previews from the thread. But is 'Bilis Manger' an anagram of something? It looked like it ought to be, but I couldn't work anything out, except 'bring a smile', and it can't be that.

foxinsocks · 06/01/2007 22:35

grim lesbian (someone else told me that!)

nikkie · 06/01/2007 22:42

Looks like it should be but can't find one, possibly means something in another language?
Manger(eat?)

JackieNo · 06/01/2007 22:43

. Really? I mean, yes it does spell that, but is it intentional?
