I have finally figured out what programme the sidekick in Torchwood (had to use turn-on-spray to get the girl and boy in first episode) was in.

He was absolute brilliant and was my favourite character in it.

'Bleak House' - Guppy.

Have to use matchsticks to stay up till 10.00 p.m. Jack is not as charasmatic as Christopher but hey ho ....its early days.

torchwood, love it... but faeries? are all evil?

Pixel · 16/11/2006 21:57

It was a bit of a rubbish ending but I think the faeries were saying if they couldn't have their chosen child they would destroy the world. Jack asked them if they really wanted that because there would be no more chosen children (thinking that would change their minds)and they said something about going back through time for them (I think)so that didn't work. He was forced to let them take the child to save the rest of the world.

As for his living forever thing I'm thinking it has something to do with Rose bringing him back to life at the end of 'Parting of the ways' (Doctor Who)when she'd looked into the time vortex and was all glowy and powerful. Maybe he got a bit of whatever it is that allows the Doctor to regenerate.

nikkie · 16/11/2006 22:04

Jack said (in the first episode whenhe was shot) that a friend did something to him which prevents him from dying and when he meets them again he wants to find out why.

trying2bgood · 16/11/2006 22:22

I think pixel is right, Jack lives forever as he was brought back to life with the stuff that runs the tardis. Not sure why Rose is not immortal then?

Pixel · 16/11/2006 22:45

Because The Doctor kissed her and drew all the time vortex out of her and into himself. That's why he had to regenerate, all the cells in his body were dying, but he had to do it to save Rose.

nikkie · 16/11/2006 22:46

Because it was her using her power rather than the power itself IYKWIM.
I think Jack probably thinks it was the Dr rather than Rose (as he wouldn't expect Rose to have that power and he thought she'd gone home)

Pixel · 16/11/2006 23:03

I wonder if Jack thinks Rose is dead? She was on the list of the dead in our universe but he would have no way of knowing she is alive in the alternative one. I wonder if he tried to find her, thinking she was back home? I would have if I'd been him.

Pixel · 16/11/2006 23:10

Ah but just realised, Jack might know of the events of the London Torchwood and that Rose was there with the Doctor. Oh this time-travel stuff is so complicated!

AshNotTheHousewaresOne · 17/11/2006 09:07

i think all will be revealed when jack returns to 'doctor who' next year.....

nikkie · 17/11/2006 20:40

BUt even knowing that Rose was with the Doctor she could still have died.Think there is a comment at some point made by Jack to Gwen about someone close to him dying at Torchwood (or allusiions to that anyway) I took it mean Rose.

bloody hell that was scarey

Pixel · 20/11/2006 00:37

Much the best one so far. (Anyone spot the deliberate mistake? When Gwen spotted something in the woods Owen said "You go left and I'll go right" but they were facing each other so surely they'd have both ended up going the same way?)

Anyway, was great. Creepy, gory, full of suspense.

JackieNo · 20/11/2006 09:37

I'm still surprised by the romance/sex stuff - I have got so used to Doctor Who, where it wouldn't ever be that explicit, that I find it very unexpected. And I thought that if anyone, Gwen and Captain Jack were being lined up for an affair, with the teaching her how to shoot scene way back in one of the early episodes?

lemonaid · 20/11/2006 09:38

He had a bit of a Meaningful Stare at her and Owen in last night's episode...

lemonaid · 20/11/2006 09:39

...but maybe he's just been too busy invading Orinoco's dreams...

sfxmum · 20/11/2006 09:40

is it just me? but last night there was all that speed 'they are so fast' and then when they were gathering up the team and chasing Tosh nothing they were normal!
did i miss something? must watch repeat

JackieNo · 20/11/2006 09:48

Mmm - love triangle, you think, with Mr Guppy (can't stop thinking of Owen as that, I'm afraid), Gwen and Captain Jack? Agree sfxmum - was expecting something supernatural, and they turned out to just be human. Horrific, but human.

lemonaid · 20/11/2006 12:11

I think the idea was that humanity is quite capable of producing horrors on a par with anything alien. But agree that in that case the "oh, they're so fast... oh, they're so strong" element was cheating a bit.

nikkie · 20/11/2006 19:49

Poor Tosh wanted Owen though.

Pixel · 20/11/2006 20:08

Poor Tosh doesn't stand a chance with Gwen around. She even manages to give Owen lingering looks when he is digging shotgun pellets out of her! (don't know what either of them see in him myself).

AitchTwoOh · 20/11/2006 20:11

it's his letterbox mouth, i find it fascinating.

nikkie · 20/11/2006 20:35

He is definatly growing on me!
Liked the scene against the tree
