Loving this thread, just a thought I've been having about Monique what if she is "Sarah" Baptiste addict daughter? Is it possible?

funambulist · 27/11/2014 13:05

Interestingly Diana Quick, who plays Mary Garrett, is also from Dartford.

Yes, I think that we'll definitely need a new thread soon. We've filled about 15 pages since the Tuesday episode.

Trunchbull · 27/11/2014 13:10

Obsessed screen shot time.

The Missing BBC1
funambulist · 27/11/2014 13:13

Thanks Trunchbull. That makes it look like Vincent's father, Pierre was born in Dartford and his mother, Mary in Lille. Vincent himself was born in France. Now very confused!

funambulist · 27/11/2014 13:15

Google translate says that Vincent's profession, néant, means "nothingness". None, I suppose.

diddl · 27/11/2014 13:20

So if I'm reading that correctly, his mum was born in Lille & his dad in Dartford?

Trunchbull · 27/11/2014 13:20

Oooooh! I didn't notice that! This is from Ep1, the first time I saw it yesterday in Ep3 I could have SWORN Mary was Dartford and Pierre was Lille but I can't check because I'm not home until 3.30. Bugger!

FallonColby · 27/11/2014 13:26

Nancy66 the journalist said to Emily, "I know what you and Tony did". Only Tony killed Ian. Unless Emily helped with the clean up operation.

funambulist · 27/11/2014 13:33

On BBC i player most popular television programmes the various episodes of The Missing are ranked as follows:

Number 2 - Missing 5
Number 19 - Missing 4
Number 29 - Missing 1
Number 31 - Missing 3
Number 39 - Missing 2

Is that us? Obsessively watching and rewatching for clues? Grin

SomethingFunny · 27/11/2014 13:37

Funambulist- probably!! Maybe someone should catch up on episode 2, we might have missed something!!

Nancy66 · 27/11/2014 13:38

Fallon. Yes, I think the wife covers up or lies for Tony about killing Ian.
I reckon the journalist is listening in to their voicemails - this is 2006

dingit · 27/11/2014 13:40

I feel like rewatching now too, something I never do. What has mumsnet done to me?

FallonColby · 27/11/2014 13:44

Good point Nancy I had never thought of that, I guess that's why he said something in the cafe about if only he could prove it.

Jenda · 27/11/2014 13:47

I love this thread, keeping me going in between episodes. my mind is being blown by all these theories! Grin

FallonColby · 27/11/2014 13:54

I wonder what Tony's job is, we know Emily is a teacher but there's not even a hint about what he did in 2006.

LineRunner · 27/11/2014 13:56

I just watched ep 1 again. It could be that the white haired older bloke who briefly watched them swimming took the yellow scarf out of Ollie's bag, which would be at the side of the pool, and used it to lure Ollie away.

Ollie's not wearing it after swimming and it's not seen in the hotel room.

noddyholder · 27/11/2014 14:04

I think Mary may be his mother as it was her on the laptop

SomethingFunny · 27/11/2014 14:07

Things we need to find out (apart from the obvious what happened to Ollie):

  1. How Baptiste hurt his leg

  2. what happened in 2009 (other abduction?)

  3. How Emily and Mark get together

funambulist · 27/11/2014 14:11

I just watched bits of episode 3 again to try and find the document with Vincent Bourg's details on that Trunchball spotted.

I don't know how to link to the screenshot of the relevant scene but Trunchball I'm sure that you'll be pleased to know that the episode 3 document has Pierre Bourg born in Lille and Vincent's mother, Mary Scotts, born in Dartford. It gives Vincent's profession as Ouvrier (worker).

It is at 44 minutes into episode 3 if anyone wants to have a look.

Other bits of information I picked up were:

Tony assaulted Greg in February 2000

Tony made payments to Greg in February 2000

Greg admitted to Tony that he had kissed Emily

Ollie's fracture occurred in September 2004 when he was almost 3 years old.

Ollie was 5 years old when he vanished in 2006.

Tony does not have an alibi for the 9 minutes between 10.16 and 10.25 on the evening Ollie vanished.

In 2006 Julien Baptiste has two pictures on his desk. One is of a little girl with straight red/blonde hair aged about 2. One seems to be of an older boy.

Nancy66 · 27/11/2014 14:11

the bloke with white hair in the van is the bloke they are looking for that they now know is in Belgium - the head of the Romanian gang

EauRouge · 27/11/2014 14:19

Hope no one minds, I started a new thread so it can be linked to before this one fills up.

New thread here.

Trunchbull · 27/11/2014 14:25

Funambulist. Thank you. I am not losing the plot then (so to speak). So why is it different? Continuity mistake? If so, does that mean it's a relevant detail?

Can't believe I am sitting in hairdressers following and commenting on this thread. I am not a huge MNer usually!

I dont think vincent is ians son nor is mary his mother (my opinion) but watched the clip of the trailer again n looks like police are diggin something up (maybe lookin for the childrens bodies on the video recorder) coz surely tony wud do something with that n then next weeks episode says uve been mistaken with a picture of the grey haired man my moneys on greg having something to do with it i still think mark is dodgy too

Itsfab · 27/11/2014 18:40

Only read up to Tuesday night at 22:00.

I don't think it is clever when the viewer can't make head nor tail over what is happening.

Just do it in chronological order, stop the unnecessary flash forward and back. Spoils the potential of a really good drama.

I think James Nesbitt is great but everyone else is crap, especially his ex wife.
