Anyone watching , so far quite tense especially the music

OP posts:
MarthasHarbour · 28/10/2014 21:58

I had to stop watching it too. Too close to home as I have a 5 yo DS but mainly because of DMs fucking victim blaming 'well MarthasHarbour it is only close to home as you have a DS that age and you would never let go of his hand'

FFFFFFFFS Angry

I had to leave the room (staying in hols with them this week) I left them watching it all geared up for a DM rant in the morning Angry

LePetitMarseillais · 28/10/2014 21:59

Hmm not looking good.I won't be able to watch if it's really horrible.

deuscat · 28/10/2014 21:59

I think I'm hooked.

scratchandsniff · 28/10/2014 22:01

Oh God its all getting a bit sinister. Finding it hard to watch, but at the same time its reeling me in.

LePetitMarseillais · 28/10/2014 22:02

I lost my son in France for 15 minutes. It was awful.Shouldn't be watching but think I'm hooked too.Really hope it doesn't turn nasty.

Deedeecupcake · 28/10/2014 22:03

I'm defo hooked now! Sadly I can't imagine there being a happy ending 8 years on.....

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 28/10/2014 22:03

Too depressing. Won't be watching it.

forgivenminds · 28/10/2014 22:08

Gripped from beginning but it finishes right before Xmas so hope its not an horrific ending !

EmilyGilmore · 28/10/2014 22:13

The ending had me holding my breath. How disturbing that the mother ended up with he police liaison guy and his son.

Ikeameatballs · 28/10/2014 22:27

Found it very hard going.

I rarely manage to watch anything that's in more than 3 parts so I suspect I'll not see it all any way.

Tanfastic · 28/10/2014 22:30

I watched it (with my heart in my mouth). Shed a tear when the mum said to send his teddy to the charity shop Hmm.

It's gripping but I really do hope its a happy ending.

LillianGish · 28/10/2014 22:48

Hadn't realised she was with police liaison guy - well spotted Emily. I loved it - covered in goosebumps by the discovery of the drawing.

QOD · 28/10/2014 22:50

It'sfab, but tthe mum looks a bit too much like Mrs M to me :(

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 28/10/2014 22:50

How fortunate that they found the only charity shop in the entire world with a policy of taking donors' names and addresses!

And other quibbles....

Bakeoffcakes · 28/10/2014 22:59

I hadn't realised it was the police liaison officer either.

I kept switching it over, I don't want to watch it but I need to know how it ends.

8 episodes!

EmilyGilmore · 28/10/2014 23:00

To be fair, a lot of charity shops do that now. I get letters telling me how much my random tat has sold for. Bit of a waste of time and stamps if you ask me. I take your point. But they do have to add some drama.

I did wonder why the dad didn't spend more time looking around the bar area when he first lost the boy. Why did he rush straight outside?

Also, what did he and his FIL get up???

Nancy66 · 28/10/2014 23:32

I thought it was good.

Clear they'd drawn heavily on the MM case. The stuffed toy, the good looking middle class couple, happened on holiday, locals initially support and then turn against them...seem to hint that the dad became a suspect.

Sunnyshine · 28/10/2014 23:43

Loved it but not sure how they are going to get 7 more episodes from it!

SocialMediaAddict · 29/10/2014 09:27

Just watching on catch up. Stressful!!! James Nesbit is brilliant.

I'm intrigued so going to keep watching.

LePetitMarseillais · 29/10/2014 10:24

Yes James Nesbitt utterly brilliant. The mum in France not so much, better in the present day. When I lost my son(albeit for only 15 mins) in a busy French town I was literally pulling clumps of hair out of my head and was incoherent. The horror on JN's face reflected it more. She seemed a bit subdued.Maybe all is not what it seems though.

Really don't want paedophiles to be involved as I won't be able to see it the end.

Don't normally get gripped with things like this.

LePetitMarseillais · 29/10/2014 10:34

Also the way she was happy for the cuddly toy to be sent to charity- no mother would ever do that. You'd pack it away out of sight but I honestly don't think you'd just dump your child's most treasured possession. Hmmmmm, she's intriguing me.

The writer she met does too.

Jackiebrambles · 29/10/2014 10:38

I found it utterly gut-wrenching. I nearly broke down when she was holding his fox toy before sending it to the charity shop. I hope he doesn't (I have a feeling he might just pack it up with the other stuff!).

I thought James Nesbit was brilliant.

My DH couldn't watch it, found it too upsetting.
I will be watching again definitely! (but alone...)

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 29/10/2014 10:45

I watched this. James Nesbitt's acting was outstanding.

Bewooohooove · 29/10/2014 10:50

It wasn't an easy watch. Agree with Nancy about the MM similarities, the mum even looks like her. Hope it doesn't get drawn out over the remaining episodes and they keep the same standard up.

WhoeverYouWantMeToBe · 29/10/2014 11:47

I thought it was really good. James Nesbit was incredible.
I agree with the similarities to MM, and thought the mother looked like MM's Mother as well... blonde and very slim even similar facial features and expressions Confused

I also didn't realise she was with the police liaison officer either just thought he was just a new man in her life.
It was unsettling to watch but as soon as I saw the drawing on the wall at the end I knew I was hooked... Can't wait til next week now.
