I just realised- the old grey haired bloke in the restaurant was the boy from Press Gang. I am old!

Hmm, I often think the vicar in our village is living the dream (as far as vicaring goes). He is no Adam though, much more like a potential Archdeacon.

There was a really good interview with Tom Hollander about Rev on Andrew Marr just now. I can't find it on iPlayer, but perhaps it's just not up yet.

GreenShadow · 27/04/2014 12:27

It's up now - he's on at about 34.50 mins.

GreenShadow · 27/04/2014 12:32

Oooh, and he said that he's not discounting a 4th series!

No, he only says that it's a possibility Iseenyou. I didn't take it as a spoiler and I'm madly sensitive to spoilers, if that helps.

What I mean is that he didn't give it away one way or the other. I took it that might end here, or it might not.

I'm madly sensitive to spoilers, but he handled it well.

I liked the way he talked about people involved in the Church of England recognising things. I'm not, but I could see it.

And he looked cute. In a Santa's Little Helper kind of way Wink

But I guessed it probably won't go on, given his career. And given the fact that you should quit while you're ahead.

But that's my though, not his. Definitely nothing he says.

I think I'm a bit too invested in this Wink

Anyway, the interview doesn't give anything away.

Shartibartfast · 27/04/2014 19:27

I have watched the last episode twice already, and could easily watch it again - the way that the Easter Christian story has been interwoven into the script is magical and moving. I love the idea that the whole series has been chronicling Adam/Jesus's last weeks -best get tissues ready for tomorrow! Surely this will be up for a wheelbarrow full of awards! I don't know my bible well enough to catch all the parallels, and this thread has been really helpful by filling in the gaps. Tomorrow's episode will be sad, but thoughtful, and regrettably I don't think we'll see another series.

Icimoi · 27/04/2014 21:06

Was the episode about the statue something to do with not making graven images? Or was it again casting moneychangers out of the temple?

Just wondering, if Alex is Mary Magdalene, who do we think Ellie is?

This has dropped off my list so I'm putting it back on it for this evening!

PootlewasthebestFlump · 28/04/2014 16:48

Interesting about the iconographic imagery in the show - um not very up on my biblical references so struggled until I caught up with the thread!

I think this series is darker but I appreciate that - from what TH has said, the programme has been a bit of a journey for all involved - starting as a lighthearted idea for a comedy show then involving real priests advising on life in the parish and nicely contrasting dark and light, and now (ime) discovering that perhaps the profession has a serious, meaningful side and the darker aspect holds more gravitas with them now than the funny lighthearted side.

I like the darkness, it seems fitting, and TH has that dark side, contemplative, and I wonder if the Easter allegory is also an an allegory of their own journeys. If they're not discounting a series 4 then they are acknowledging a death but leaving it open as to whether they will rise again and evolve as something anew.

OverlookedConfection · 28/04/2014 21:59

Am poised with my cup if coffee. Might need tissues.

PootlewasthebestFlump · 28/04/2014 22:10

I cover their spotty wipe clean table cloth but in duck egg blue.

I'd also like TH to father my child and entertain them like that in my house.

I think the table cloth is a more realistic goal.

Davros · 28/04/2014 22:15

I like Bongo

Davros · 28/04/2014 22:21

Shit! I shouldn't have said that

PootlewasthebestFlump · 28/04/2014 22:24

Did the disciples reflect on their relationship with Jesus after he died and before he resurrected?

SunshineBossaNova · 28/04/2014 22:32

I was doing really well until Colin started praying.

I don't know Pootle. It was an interesting episode.

Helpys · 28/04/2014 22:35

Oh, that was very gentle.

PootlewasthebestFlump · 28/04/2014 22:37

I'm leaving you, but not yet.

Meaning, the baptism...or maybe more...

jaynebxl · 28/04/2014 22:37

Loved it. The last episode was more than I dared hope for.
