I just realised- the old grey haired bloke in the restaurant was the boy from Press Gang. I am old!

I mean the baby will have a hand in the story.

SunshineBossaNova · 22/04/2014 09:22

Pan someone did offer to take the cross, I think.

I thought it was a great episode. I'm a flint-hearted atheist but when LM said 'I am always with you' it made me a bit blinky.

Loved Ralph Fiennes as a chocolate-eating Pontius Pilate. And Liam Neeson...

oh I missed that. I am bad enough to go on iplayer and f/fwd to that bit!

SunshineBossaNova · 22/04/2014 09:26

I meant LN, not LM. D'oh!

SunshineBossaNova · 22/04/2014 09:27

Pan it was about the time he fell over in the street and lost consciousness, IIRC.

It was a really good episode last night, but there was so much in it that it could have stretched out to an hour, easily.
I could have cried for Adam when he was cleaning the graffiti from the door.

And then Liam Neeson dancing up! :)
The baby must be christened next week, it needs to be an uplifting one to end on, with Adam rediscovering his faith.

It's the first time in ages that I woke up dh to tell him he'd missed a good episode. (He usually catches up onlplayeras he likes his sleep too much to stay up so late... Hmm )

clangermum · 22/04/2014 09:48

Still thinking about the clues - just remembered the washing hands

Might watch this again on I player

Bue · 22/04/2014 09:54

Fantastic Easter episode. And the cast just gets more illustrious by the week!

Nigel's behaviour was just Shock. A new low even for him. Presumably he was Judas, betraying Adam "with a kiss"?

Perhaps the diocesan restructuring will involve a merging of St Savior's with another, solvent parish and Adam can take his rag tag bag of parishioners and go be vicar somewhere a little less depressing?

Bue · 22/04/2014 10:02

clanger great point. I may go back and watch this later today as well. So much to think about.

What has been stopping them from baptising Katie? I can never tell if deep down Alex is a non-believer or if she simply resents the impact the parish has on their lives so she doesn't want to conform. I think you are all right though, Rev always ends on an uplifting note so Katie is bound to get dunked. Well, sprinkled.

goshdarnit · 22/04/2014 10:03

Nigel as Judas! Yes! That's it, betrayed by a kiss!

SunshineBossaNova · 22/04/2014 10:05

There were so many touching moments in last night's episode. I was so sad for Adam when Adoha rejected him, and Colin denied knowing him. (Colin as St Peter?)

AntoinetteCosway · 22/04/2014 15:54

Just watched last night's on iplayer and there were several moments where I was a bit teary. Liam Neeson was brilliant. (Does anyone other than Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman have the voice or gravitas to play God?! I can't think of anyone.)

PansBigChainring · 22/04/2014 16:41

God voice - the big, black actor who does lots of gravely-voiced parts in Hollywood filums. Forget his name - he has a letter between initial and surname.

clangermum · 22/04/2014 16:42

Adoha spitting was really shocking

clangermum · 22/04/2014 16:44

A hallucination I know

Betrayed with a kiss, of course. I'd seen him as Judas but hadn't thought that far.

clangermum · 22/04/2014 16:46

Pans Samuel L Jackson?

PansBigChainring · 22/04/2014 16:48

No, very deep voiced, quite bulky man. Might even have been the Darth Vadar voice..

PansBigChainring · 22/04/2014 16:49

James Earl Jones! See, I said there was a letter in there...Blush

MrsCakesPremonition · 22/04/2014 16:56

I was very surprised at how soft Liam Neeson's face looked, especially his mouth which looked very small and soft and dainty. I always think of him as this huge, tough guy and he was so soft and gently.

I may have cried...again.

Also, I don't think Liam Neeson appeared in the credits - which was odd.

edamsavestheday · 22/04/2014 17:00

Adoha was indeed very shocking. Got some of the references to the Easter story but I'd completely missed the Bishop washing his hands like Pilate.

What on earth is going to happen to St Saviours? They showed the pews being cleared, so presumably it is being sold off or closed?

clangermum · 22/04/2014 17:01

I kept looking and thinking -that is Liam Neeson isn't it

AntoinetteCosway · 22/04/2014 17:03

It's like the Woman in Black where the woman isn't credited in the program because she really was a ghost. Liam Neeson wasn't credited because it wasn't really him, it was Jesus... Grin

MrsCakesPremonition · 22/04/2014 17:09

On a really dark note - Pilate initially investigated Jesus and found that he had done nothing worthy of death, so he decided to chastise him and release him. But the priests and elders insisted he destroy Jesus.

We got as far as the investigation and release (the Bisphop accepting Adam's resignation), but it is possible that other people will insist that Adam is not allowed to leave quietly and that his reputation must be utterly destroyed.

I really want a happy ending - but can't see where it is going to come from at the moment.
