For those of us who have no life care about Corrie and want to see it returned to its former glory.

And want answers to questions such as:

Why are Sean and Marcus moving back into Eileen's pokey house instead of getting a place of their own as other couples with two wages would do?

And does anyone else apart from me and Edith Weston remember when Corrie was on two days a week and was a high quality drama/comedy?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/04/2012 12:39

And why does Tyrone not sort out that godawful decor?

peppercold · 08/04/2012 12:43

Why does Stella,s accent sound so shite?

ISpyPlumPie · 08/04/2012 12:45

And whatever happened to baby Jack?

FriskyMare · 08/04/2012 12:47

Who is babysitting when everyone is in t'pub.

FrillyMilly · 08/04/2012 12:57

Where are all the babies?

Is Tyrone's girlfriend pregnant?

Why isn't the dishy doctor in it more?

Breakfast in Roy's, lunch in the pub and dinner at the bistro. On a street they live on. They must be loaded!

Tyrone's house looks like it stinks. Why hasn't the super-jealous GF demanded that he change all the decor that he shared with Molly?

How can Anna afford to rent the house off of Owen with what she earns from Roy?

Why don't Eileen and Trouser-Smell Fireman move in his far-nicer house?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/04/2012 19:16

The Corrie houses (front room, back room/kitchen, upstairs bathroom and 2 bedrooms? or 3? )

So Eileen has her room, Lesley + hubby.
Sean + Marcus
Jason+ Rosie at various times.

Elastic walls (like the Slaters house or Pat's house in Enders)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/04/2012 19:22

Has Trouser-Smell Fireman had his house fixed yet?

And what good luck finding a space in the residential home for Lesley!

It's just the the nurseries that have automatic vacancies on demand!

Sweepitundertherug · 08/04/2012 19:25

They need to have some decent story lines again.
It's gone really crap.
The new pub people should go.
Dev and sunitta should go.

There are some amusing characters. Steve, of all people, makes me laugh.

H caught it the other day and thought nick was Gail's brother!

FrillyMilly · 08/04/2012 19:58

Nick was aged about 10 years when they brought him back! He's got to be at least 15 years old than his girlfriend (Eva??).

I think some of the houses use the front room as a bedroom. In Eileen's, Tyrones and Kens and Diedres they are always in the back room or kitchen. Not sure how it works though as at Fizs they walk straight in to a not that big front room with no other room besides the kitchen. In fact now I think about it the houses can't all be the same size given the different layouts.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/04/2012 20:15

When Emily Bishop had Percy Sugdeon as a lodger I'm sure he slept in the front room (for decency- not the bedroom next to Mrs B).

And did Blanche have the front room at the Barlowes?

At the back they all have a small yard, no extensions or conservatories on that side of the street!

Dee03 · 08/04/2012 20:37

Dev's house doesn't have a front room either, you walk straight into the lounge!
Tracey's house seems bigger than all the others.
They should get rid is Dev and Sinitta, no decent storylines for them ever and also the people who run the pub!

EdithWeston · 08/04/2012 20:47

Yes, I remember when it was only twice a week. And was fascinated to see the repeat of the first ever episode, as it had so much more dialogue.

I wish Spider would reappear; that the writing for the older characters would be returned to its previous standard; that Stella and Karl would both leave asap; that Carla would leave (the travesty of the Frank storylines, and the total implausibility of her and Peter together is just unbearable).

I would like to see more sustained characterisation (not this lazy plotting whereby characters vanish for weeks) and slower build storylines.

LeeCoakley · 08/04/2012 21:00

Another twice-a-week-at-7.30 here.

I can't find the recent Corrie thread I was on and haven't seen it for a few days so - Has Audrey Seen The Light?? Has Lewis Scarpered? I flippin hope so. Carla/Peter = yuk. Karl/Sunita = yuk. Tracey = awful. Fireman = awful. I want Steve to find a sparring partner like Becky was, he's about the only decent person in it. Gail and David make a good partnership as well. And agree, poor storylines at the moment.

BrightnessFalls · 08/04/2012 21:58

I lI've Steve. I dont think we will ever see anything as good as jack and Vera again.

PoorAudreyHorseface · 08/04/2012 23:53

Why can't Sawphie go to college and become a teacher?

and Chesney realise he can't support a family by selling dog collars and decide to get a trade - plumber, electrician or something?

and Tina stop jumping into bed with every fellow who has a pulse.

And Kym Marsh re-unite Hear'say and leave acting for good.

Nancy66 · 09/04/2012 09:27

I still watch Corrie but it's not a patch on what it used to be.

They need a mass cull. They seem hell bent on making the younger cast the centre of the storylines but i much prefer the older ones.

Give me Norris and mad Mary any day.

I'd be getting rid of:

Marcus and Sean
Tina and Tommy
Carla and Peter
Dev and his whole family
Tyrone's psycho girlfriend
Carl

EdithWeston · 09/04/2012 09:35

I'd forgotten Michelle was still in it - latest vanisher, I suppose.

I agree almost entirely with nancy66's cull list.

I would have liked to see more of Julie's pregnancy, but the way they're ruining Brian at the moment means I think I'm glad we're not. So many missed opportunities.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 09/04/2012 09:47

One of the houses was built in the 70s by Len Fairclough in a gap left by a WW2 bomb, that one might have a different layout, think it is the one Dev and Sunita are in now. Also the end one was partially rebuilt after the tram crash, that's the one Tracey is in now.

Blanche did live in the front room at Ken and Deirdre's, the front room at Tyrone's seems to be missing, as do the ones at Eileen's and Tracey's (it did appear sometimes when Kev and Sally lived there). The houses that appear to be knocked through (Fizz, Dev) don't seem to be any bigger downstairs than the middle room in for example Ken's house. Yet, they seem to be able to squeeze in about 10 people for Christmas dinner without it being a problem.

They need to get rid of Dev and Sunita, Stella and Carl, Stella's daughter Eve, Carla, Michele, Tyrone's girlfriend, Marcus and Sean. I could live with the Paul and Eileen story if Paul was a better actor. I though Lesley was well acted, but I guess we're not going to be seeing much more of her.

Getting it back to twice a week with a smaller pool of characters would be a definite improvement I think, the good ones are too diluted by the dross at the moment.

javo · 09/04/2012 10:03

I agree with others - corrie has reallt slumped. I only watch now on Staurday am ITV2 if I'm up early with the kids and used to be a total fan.

The Tracy miscarriage was handled so badly and I bet the DV one with Tyrone's new girl that began last episode will be too. The early onset Alzheimer's storyline has been a travesty. It implies that after one walkabout and a bit of confusion that a luxury home specialising in early onset can be found at the drop of a hat and that you can care for your spouse and hold down a full time job - oh and have 2 week respite care at any time- no way! My mum had EOA in her early 50's and there is so little help available, you also have to be in a pretty advanced state before a home or respite is offered. Also, Lesley was unknown to us- so it was difficult for us to feel for her - it showed Eileen who is popular with viewers in a bad light - looks like she just wanted rid of Lesley to get it on with creepy fireman

Too many characters atm and too many storylines that just peter out such as baby jack, Baby Joseph etc. Elastic houses, no cars on the street, fabulous factory wages that allow for ft childcare, lunchtime and evening food and drink at the pub etc. Corrie has lost the plot - it need to go back to its roots and start showing some of the drudery of rl and consequences of poverty.

EdithWeston · 09/04/2012 10:07

Tracy was 26 weeks - it wasn't a miscarriage, but two stillbirths. The legal, medical and human aspects of that story were an absolute travesty.

EdithWeston · 09/04/2012 10:17

Oh, and it's a legal travesty that Tracy's on the Street at all.

The forensic evidence was not in dispute in her trial - so there was no legal grounds to appeal against conviction because of a "discredited expert". She admitted killing (her defence was a fake DV one).

And it's wrong legally about who can apply for an annulment: Steve can do this.

I find it hard to stomach a character to whom the Law does not apply.
