The big Corrie thread (Spoiler Alert!)

For those of us who have no life care about Corrie and want to see it returned to its former glory.

And want answers to questions such as:

Why are Sean and Marcus moving back into Eileen's pokey house instead of getting a place of their own as other couples with two wages would do?

And does anyone else apart from me and Edith Weston remember when Corrie was on two days a week and was a high quality drama/comedy?

OP posts:

Poor Julie!!

I wonder what is going on?

FrillyMilly · 30/04/2012 20:33

Poor Julie

Pinkchampagne · 30/04/2012 21:08

The Julie storyline brought back some horrible memories of when I had a missed miscarriage 2 years ago. That awful moment where they cannot find your baby.Sad However I feel they spoilt it with the unrealistic way the sonographer dealt with it. They would have done an internal scan to look for the baby (incase it had stopped growing just a few weeks into the pregnancy) rather than fleeing out of the room within seconds to get someone else & not explaining things, and then having the doctor speak to her so abruptly. It annoys me when they don't research sensitive things like this, but that is soap land for you!

stressheaderic · 30/04/2012 21:18

I missed the beginning of the second episode, DD was wailing. What happened to Julie's baby? Was it well-handled?
I love the character of Julie.

EdithWeston · 30/04/2012 21:39

I thought the way they portrayed the senior radiologist was a disgrace.

Srptressheaderic: they found no baby, and no sign that the had been one. From a comment Julie made later, it is likely she has some sort of ovarian cyst, which produces enough HCG to give a positive on a PG test.

BrightnessFalls · 30/04/2012 22:58

Poor Julie Sad thats the answer to all our speculation about her pregnancy.

What a shame. Has the headmaster got any other children. Why did he have the snip?

I cant stand Tyrones gf.

TeaTeaLotsOfTea · 01/05/2012 08:48

Ok Kevin bloody Webster

What a dispicable man he is.

He cheats on his wife with his best friends wife, gets her pregnant tells he rto piss off.

Splits from wife treats his ex best friend like crap at work.

Decides to get back with wife, a couple of times, now decides to give up son for ex wife while ass kissing her at the back street bistro.

What a complete tosser.

2nd rant

Why do corrie insist on bringing back vile characters??

Tracey Barlow is a murderer why is she free to walk the streets??
Terry duckworth, need I say more?

Whenever they are on I change the channel.

come on corrie sort it out.

Poor poor Julie.

I felt so sorry for her. She's a brilliant character. Where's eileens boyfriend gone?

FrillyMilly · 01/05/2012 11:07

Do we think Auntie Pam is going to have baby jack? Then he will come back in 12 years, having aged an extra 10 years.

whatkungfuthat · 01/05/2012 11:15

She probably will, but its such a rubbish storyline.

Nancy66 · 01/05/2012 11:20

As auntie Pam has not been in it for the best part of a year and has suddenly reappeared it looks like that's the way they're going....

BrightnessFalls · 01/05/2012 11:56

How terrible. She must be sixty if she's a day and, the grandad has a dodgy heart.

TheScottishPlayer · 01/05/2012 12:30

Completely agree that how they handled Julie's storyline. Without wishing to be insensitive, it would have been much more heartbreaking and compelling viewing if they'd built up the storyline a bit pre-scan and actually potrayed a more realistic hospital experience. It could have been really moving, instead it was just slotted in quickly between the awful Terry Duckworth and Kevin Webster storylines.

I thought last night's trip to the town hall was awful too. Tyrone's girlfriend was completely unbelievable.

Last week's bohemian rhapsody was funny though.

Pinkchampagne · 01/05/2012 13:26

It was awful & those of us who have gone through similar know that it is nothing like how these situations are dealt with in real life. It is not "oh can't find the baby" dash off out of the room, bring in someone more senior who appears to have another quick look on the screen & then tells them in a very shirty manner that there is no baby, just a cyst, so therefore she cannot have been pregnant at all.

My MMC looked like there was no baby to be seen. The sonographer did not dash out of the room (much as she was far from the most sensitive), she looked for some time, then explained she would need to do a vaginal scan to see what was happening, then eventually found the baby (that has stopped growing at 7 weeks so could not be seen without internal scan) then explained to us what had happened & arranged for midwife to come to the house after.

When the storyline started I thought it was going to show something similar & it started bringining back lots of memories of that awful experience, but by the second part of last nights programme, they had messed it up completely & it was so far from how these things are handled in rl that it annoyed me. I know it is just a soap but you would think they would look into making it as realistic as possible.

alemci · 01/05/2012 17:02

yes the town Hall thing was so stupid. as if they would tell Terry about the mercedes in the pub afterwards. you would be much more subtle but I suppose it is a soap opera where reality doesn't count.

BrightnessFalls · 01/05/2012 19:35

Is anyone hoping that Julie will ditch that baffoon now?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/05/2012 23:38

Just watched last night's. Julie was treated terribly, simply awful.

The Terry thing was bad too, just no way he could have got through all the planning and licensing procedures without any publicity, whether he bunged his way though or not. Kirsty is the most unbelievable police officer ever, she seems determined to throw away her career.

As for Kev offering to give Jack up, words fail me.

FrillyMilly · 02/05/2012 21:48

Has anyone seen the ads for next week. I'm guessing the Eileen/fireman/wife storyline and the tommy/terry storyline come to a head. In the ad Tina mentions a man who drove her dad to his death. Can anyone remind me what happened with Tina's dad. I know he married Gail and accidentally killed himself whilst trying to fake his suicide. I know he hurt his back too and was addicted to painkillers.

whatkungfuthat · 02/05/2012 21:54

That fireman storyline can't come to an end quickly enough for me.

TeaTeaLotsOfTea · 02/05/2012 22:11

frilly its the debt collect that took his van that Tina is referring to.

I'm not too ure what happens to Tina.

I know that Leslie meets her demise somehow I have a feeling Paul clouts her which is just awful if thats right

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 03/05/2012 09:53

Appreciate in Soapland that not all will be accurate -eg sonogram, Town Hall etc, but what is increasingly apparent is how rapidly the stories are wrapped up - ie in one episode they 'storm' the town hall, proof uncovered, arrests made, celebration etc. Similarly with Kevin - no long soul searching etc , just wham, all resolved. I hope the Kirsty telling terry in the rovers will lead to repercussions - surely they'd want to keep it quiet so he can't prepare his story for when he is questioned.
As for Sunita teetering along in those massive heels carrying shopping bags, and blatabtly making a play for Karl - aaaaaaaaaargh.

Triggles · 03/05/2012 13:13

Actually, when we had a missed miscarriage, we had an early scan and the woman couldn't find the baby immediately, and left the room without telling us what was going on, and brought back someone else in briefly. Then the second person left again, and the first woman basically said (all in one paragraph) "you've lost the baby, we'll have to get you booked in for a scrape." Shock I was so horrified by the statement, I completely fell apart. Thank goodness DH was there, as I was a basket case.

We made a complaint about it as it was so completely inappropriate. So yeah, sometimes it IS treated that badly.

Pinkchampagne · 03/05/2012 17:56

Goodness, that's awful!ShockSad You were right to complain. Mine was awful in that they didn't turn the screen away from me so I saw everything, and the sonographer did not explain what was happening for what seemed like ages, but she didn't leave the room until she had worked out exactly what was going on. Sorry you were treated in such a terrible way.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 03/05/2012 18:46

So may be Corrie not so inaccurate...Sad Sad

LeeCoakley · 03/05/2012 21:11

Yikes! Tyrone's girlfriend showed her true colours tonight! Mad woman

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/05/2012 21:15

Poor Tyrone. He has such bad luck with women. Bring back Margie Clark.
