The big Corrie thread (Spoiler Alert!)

For those of us who have no life care about Corrie and want to see it returned to its former glory.

And want answers to questions such as:

Why are Sean and Marcus moving back into Eileen's pokey house instead of getting a place of their own as other couples with two wages would do?

And does anyone else apart from me and Edith Weston remember when Corrie was on two days a week and was a high quality drama/comedy?

OP posts:

I miss Kirks story lines

BrightnessFalls · 12/04/2012 21:10

I do like Maria's hair, I have to say.

That Michelle gets on my wick with her inflated boobs and nylon polo necks.

Im still in love with Carla's eyebrows.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2012 21:35

Carla used to have a mahoosive rectangular crystal pendant and I want one but no idea where it's from.

(Got an M&S pendant 'n' earrings but they are much smaller)

Frillymilly the Dishy (???) doc is in it enough already if you ask me! C'mon, he is the only doc for the whole of Weatherfield, he does housecalls (are you kidding me?) AND even consultations int' street, you don't often get that on the NHS.

Mad Mary should definately go, anyone who can chew a winegum for 10 mins is ultra annoying in my book. The joke of her pining for Norris has long since worn thin. Sally, Kev and Surphie can go with her in her motorhome.

I am a big fan of Ben Price who plays Nick Tilsley, he has some incredibly funny one liners and expressions at times, didn't like him at first but he is quite a gem now.

Big news, for me anyway, is that the one and only Derek Jacobi (as in the major film, theatre and TV star) is coming in as an extra!! Why the heck doesn't he get a proper part?????????????? If anyone finds out which episode he is in please post a thread. PLEASE!!!!!

BrightnessFalls · 12/04/2012 21:48

Didnt I read that some oldies are coming back for Betty's funeral?

LineRunner · 12/04/2012 21:57

senses, I love Mad Mary!

Wasn't Sir Ian McKellan in it once?

FrillyMilly · 12/04/2012 22:03

I know her son (Gordon?) is coming back for the funeral. Does anyone know when the funeral is going to be?

BrightnessFalls · 12/04/2012 22:17

I think they still have a cooking hotpots so, its difficult to say!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/04/2012 09:27

I love Maria's hair too, it has me wanting to grow my fringe out.

I also agree about Nick, I hadn't really thought about it but he has really mellowed since he got the bistro off the ground. I still don't think he and Eva make a very convincing couple, but at least he's not stringing her along like he did Natasha. I was half expecting him to try and get back with Leanne, but thankfully that hasn't happened.

TheScottishPlayer · 13/04/2012 12:19

There was a random mention of Betty the other week when Carl mentioned that they were running low on hotpots and would need to get in touch with Betty to see if she could make some more. I wondered then if the funeral was going to be soon.

VonHerrBurton · 13/04/2012 12:35

The fireman's shifts make me rofl. Dh is a fireman and just the thought of him being able to 'swap to just day shift next week' or do 'full time nights' or 'take the next couple of days off, the boss has ok'd it' or whatever other random pattern he fancies is a joke. Dh struggles to even get one day off when he needs it!

I know it's of no consequence, but it's just not credible and bugs the hell out of me! Oh, why is he being called 'Trouser-Smell Fireman' by some posters? Don't get it! Someone tell me!!!!

BrightnessFalls · 13/04/2012 12:43

I want to know about Marcus and his midwifery rota. Does he do permanent nights? even if he does, shouldnt he be in bed asleep in the day rather than drinking in the pub/babysitting?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/04/2012 12:55

No, as long as he hangs around Taxi cabs (Rosie) and Nativity plays (Joseph) Front Room Sofas (Curly and Emma Watts) then he'll be ok for the Wetherfield Births.

Does anyone in Soapland have their babies in 'normal maternity hospital settings' ?

FrillyMilly · 13/04/2012 12:59

I didn't even realise Marcus was a midwife. I thought he was a sonographer for some reason.

Betty's son turns up next week to deliver the news that she has died so the funeral can't be far off.

LaGrenouille · 13/04/2012 17:26

Actually I thought he was a sonographer too. Maybe changed jobs? in the pretend world of Coronation Street

LineRunner · 13/04/2012 17:38

All midwives on soaps are able to carry out sonography; just like Dr Karl Kennedy in Neighbours is a GP who can also advise on complex brain surgery.

TheScottishPlayer · 13/04/2012 17:55

Some random googling turned up that the funeral is soon and a big secret will be revealed! I'll not randomly drop in a spoiler though.

FrillyMilly · 13/04/2012 18:05

Oooooo a big spoiler! Is it that Betty didn't make the hotspot and she bought a job lot from fresco?

FrillyMilly · 13/04/2012 18:05

That should say big secret not spoiler.

LineRunner · 13/04/2012 18:12

Betty's love child is Norris.

LineRunner · 13/04/2012 19:22

I made that up, by the way.

Astr0naut · 13/04/2012 19:30

Marcus was a sonographer. He also appeared to be able to do vague doctory things on occasion. I think midwife ties in better with the new storyline though, so in the magical world of corrie, where high school supply teachers suddenly become primary heads, he has become one.

Love Mary and Norris. I probably will become Norris one day though, so I watch with caution.

ivykaty44 · 13/04/2012 19:30

why does Eileens son keep walking in somewhere - the cafe the pub or the street and then turn around and walk off again.

He walked into the cafe the other day stood up for his mum against tracey and then walked back out again - surely he wanted a drink or food?

Then he did the same with Tommy and tiny - he walked into the flat talked to them and then went out again - he didn't stay in the flat or go for a shower etc - just went

He has weird issues

LineRunner · 13/04/2012 19:39

Oh here we go. More nonsense with Peter and Carla.

LineRunner · 13/04/2012 19:40

ivykaty, Is it meant to be an indicator of Jason's brooding sexy moodiness?
