I’m getting my forearm blacked out tomorrow!

That’s it really! It’s currently a jumbled mess of a snake/ roses/ leaves but there’s no colour so it’s hard to distinguish what’s going on and I’ve never really liked it so I’m getting the whole arm between elbow and hand blacked out.

never had black out before, has anyone else? Seen it on other people (mostly cool guys in bands tho 😂)

It’s gonna be a 4 hour session 😬

do you mean in between the others, or totally?

Twentywisteria · 10/02/2023 15:13

Just get them layered off. Blackout looks stupid if you're not a tattoo artist or in a metal band.

Twentywisteria · 10/02/2023 15:14

*lasered

Sugaspunsista · 10/02/2023 15:15

Wow that's drastic. Hope you like it

MissyB1 · 10/02/2023 15:15

Agree with pp get them lasered.

Fashiontatts · 10/02/2023 15:15

Never had it OP, but know a girl who has blackout on her arm, but with roses left in bare skin... if you get me? Sort of reverse tattoo look almost. Looks fab!

ArcaneWireless · 10/02/2023 15:16

Is it going to be like the above post?

mrsbyers · 10/02/2023 15:22

I think it looks nice when it’s around colourful tattoos - can’t you add some colour to the tattoos you have ? It looks really extreme and kinda blotchy when its done entirely black

mrsbyers · 10/02/2023 15:23

Negative space tattoos it’s called

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 10/02/2023 15:29

Blackout looks really stupid. Couldn't you just have it lazered?

SirChenjins · 10/02/2023 15:32

Can’t you just get busy with a marker pen until you’ve saved up for laser removal?

In all seriousness, what are you thinking of?!

desperatehousewife21 · 11/02/2023 07:09

Why the hell would I get it lasered? That’s damn painful and expensive (I know, ironic) and I want it blacked out?

clearly have the wrong audience here in the tattoo section 🙄

Post a before/after pic when it's done, I'm having a hard time picturing how this looks and what made you choose it.

Hope you are pleased with the results OP, it's your skin, ignore the negative comments!

SquashPenguin · 11/02/2023 07:21

Don’t know why people are suggesting lasering, that isn’t the answer for large detailed tattoos. That’s for ex boyfriend/ girlfriend names! I think blackout looks cool. My partner has his entire arm blacked out. He has a lot of tattoos, and he regularly gets compliments on the black out. It took about 16hrs in total I think, he has a big arm!

Fashiontatts · 11/02/2023 07:25

Good luck for today - Let us see it when it's done OP, loads of people get black out for a variety of reasons and I personally don't mind how it looks! But on this board you'll always attract the "tattoos are stupid" comments, ironically.
I've not had anything done for about 3yrs now and I'm nervous to start again !

FairyBatman · 11/02/2023 07:31

I can’t imagine getting that done, it must hurt like a bugger, I find the black hurts most anyway!

Good luck, would love to see a picture.

desperatehousewife21 · 11/02/2023 07:38

Thanks! I will be back this afternoon and will post a pic 😎

Whether you still like it when you’re 90 would be my issue.

Wimbz20 · 11/02/2023 07:48

Definitely laser that off 😩

wineandcheeseplease · 11/02/2023 07:51

Sounds epic! Can't wait for photos!

Or they might look back with fondness at a reminder of their youth?

NoWeaponsOnTheTable · 11/02/2023 07:59

Good luck!

A woman I know has it, along with many other inkings and I did a double take the first time I saw it, but now I like it. Not that your tattoos are anyone else's business 😆😉

I'll be back to see the photos, hope it goes well!

Whether you still like it when you’re 90 would be my issue.

Your likes and dislikes don't just magically change when you get "old".

I know several older folk with tattoos and they are as proud and excited to tell the stories behind them now as I imagine they were when they had them done.

I also saw an 80-something year old woman on TV the other day talking about how she'd just had a new tattoo done - matching one with her daughter and granddaughter.

Tattoos are for anyone who wants them!

WoeBeCome · 11/02/2023 08:06

I never get the ‘you’ll hate it when you’re old’ view. Why would you suddenly hate it when you’re an old person? Like old people suddenly become all conventional and conservative and stop liking anything that isn’t mainstream.

LuxLucet · 11/02/2023 08:07

But OP says she's having the black out because her current tatts are a jumbled mess and she doesn't really like them. People DO change their minds. They do change their likes and dislikes. Tastes change. Fashions change. The way we perceive the same thing changes. I wouldn't want to wear the same style clothes I was wearing 10 years ago.
