I'm currently looking at my wardrobe and what I might want to update it for autumn.

I'm mid50s, 5'7" and size 14.

I'm currently looking at these:

Boots

Jacket

And carrot shape jeans.

Thanks @EllaPaella I had already looked at those - we obviously have similar taste ❤️

Holdinguphalfthesky · 04/09/2026 21:38

I’ve seen adverts for Buddhastones but sort of thought they were a dodgy brand, but I just looked at some of the other items on their website and it looks really nice, are they as good quality as it looks?

quirkychick · 05/09/2026 08:41

@Holdinguphalfthesky I did buy a pair of harem trousers from them over the summer. The issue was the cost of shipping to return, as they were too big (£12), so I resold on Vinted. Those cord ones do look lovely, though.

EllaPaella · 05/09/2026 10:01

@Holdinguphalfthesky yes very good quality

TragicMuse · 05/09/2026 12:02

I want a silk or satin blouse. Nothing too flash, plain, simple. Collared, long sleeves. Cream or a good jewel colour.

They’re either insanely expensive or with fussy details I don’t like!

Tried ChatGPT and it was entirely shit at finding what I wanted!

So now I’m hunting through vinted.

lifeisgoodrightnow · 05/09/2026 12:09

Damn this thread. Damn it damn it damn it.
Great thread I’m now poor 🤣

I find vinted quite useful for this as you can filter for materials. I am also looking for a silk shirt.

I did find the most gorgeous waisted cord dress in navy from Monsoon on vinted. It fits me perfectly, just needs an inch turned up on the hem. I was a bit pissed off that one of the buttons was damaged but not disclosed. There's a spare which I've used but that leaves me with no spare now. Ah well it was only £13 and the condition otherwise is great.

I am now trying to work out if Derby shoes are more 'in' than brogues or can I just get my old brogues out. I have a number of pairs of brogues which are comfortable. I might just wear them and hope no one notices!

Yes, I thought this store was included in the ‘dodgy brands’ thread recently, but having looked at it, it seems to sell a few, very specific items so seems opposite to the ‘sells random crap’ that seemed to characterise the brands to be wary of.

Have a look at Palome for this?

sorry I don’t know how to link @SapphireSeptember the skirt is M&S autograph range.

Thank you!

Albusmum · 05/09/2026 15:15

Ooh I love these threads but never had the confidence to post. I’ve just bought a grey tweed skort, navy cord culottes and two JW Anderson boxy striped shirts from Uniqlo. (Shirts were 1/2 price). I’m only 5ft 1 1/2 and 56 but I think I’m rocking the skort. Waiting for DH’s opinion now as this is very far removed from my usual look 😂.

TragicMuse · 05/09/2026 17:13

Thanks @WinWhenTheyreSinging I’ve not heard of Palome!

And @petitpasta yes I have a vinted search set-up!

I saw a gorgeous one today in Jigsaw but it’s £165! I’d be so worried about ruining it or staining it!

quirkychick · 05/09/2026 18:04

@TragicMuse I would definitely look at Vinted, ebay or charity shop for a silk blouse. I have a couple, all secondhand - my favourite is a navy, Joseph one in heavy, matte silk.

FarriersGirl · 05/09/2026 18:08

I have bought a couple of pieces from Palome. They sell quite classic styles in natural fibres. I have been very happy with what I have had from them, good quality and value for money.

What's the sizing like @FarriersGirl ? I looked at the size chart and it puts me in an 18, I'm a 12 in most other shops! 😳

I find the sizing fairly standard, although what I’ve ordered is all top half stuff - would like to try their jeans, but not long enough for me.

Silk and cashmere has all been great.

BIossomtoes · 05/09/2026 22:32

I’ve just bought a Jaeger silk shirt on Vinted for £4. I think the seller had a fit of the head staggers.

That’s not good then as some items only go up to a 14.

I think they are a bit on the small side and go up a size compared to say, M&S.

BangingOn · 06/09/2026 07:30

I am a sucker for a blazer and this cropped jersey one is lovely (and heavily reduced) https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-gb/shop/product/norma-kamali/clothing/smart/cropped-stretch-jersey-blazer/46376663162889228

I have also ordered this skirt, which feels very expensive for faux leather but I need to try on and put out of my mind rather than it sell out and I obsess over it forevermore

rivercobbler · 06/09/2026 08:02

I just bought these trousers by Mama B from Sahara and they are my favourite EVER trousers. Now I have to upgrade my entire wardrobe, but I am in the middle of a weigtloss journey and should wait until I lose more before splurging any more.

Is anyone else now really frustrated with the weather because it's too warm to wear all our lovely autumn buys? 🤣

Quite chilly where I am in Scotland. A definite shift in weather the last week or so. Heating has been on at work and it’s lashing with rain and cool this morning.
