I'm currently looking at my wardrobe and what I might want to update it for autumn.

I'm mid50s, 5'7" and size 14.

I'm currently looking at these:

Boots

Jacket

And carrot shape jeans.

Those are gorgeous. I have already bought the TU kilt. Which is amazing. Sized down after reading this thread 🙂

Is anyone else now really frustrated with the weather because it's too warm to wear all our lovely autumn buys? 🤣

Nope! I’m enjoying still wearing my summer stuff, although have swopped shorts for trousers now.

TragicMuse · 06/09/2026 11:28

I have just remembered that I have some silk shirts under the bed. One is the particular dark purple which seems to be in vogue this coming season so I am thrilled!

Vintage!

Talisin · 06/09/2026 14:18

Kept going back and looking at the Tu kilt, love it but just not my colours so I know wouldn’t get the wear out of it. BUT! just looked again and there’s a new one and this one is for me.

Also fallen for these barrel cords so they’re heading my way too.

Are you Claudia? Lovely skirt though, and such a good price!

Thanks so much, have also been looking for a kilt and just ordered this one too. I got some barrel leg cords from Whistles last year and love them!

dontcallmelen · 06/09/2026 16:04

The TU kilts are really fab for the money, unfortunately I had to return as it comes up extremely long fine if you’re a reasonable height, I alas am very short.

I've just popped into sainsburys and spotted that one..still too long for my by a mile but it's lovely and a bargain for that price. Definitely feels.more expensive

Yes my suede jacket has arrived from vinted and a little long in the sleeves, but works. And I want to wear it!

OnlyUsername · 06/09/2026 18:51

I didn't need it but bought this today. It's sold out online already so I knew it was today or never in store!

I have about 6 long sleeved stripy tops but I do wear them at least 5 days a week and just vary my trousers/shoes. Might as well have another option.

I have some birthday money coming so I might buy these. But I've got 4 pairs of Docs already. BUT my black ones are over 10 years old and I fancy a change.

Any other Disturbia type long kilts out there? The Disturbia one I like looks a bit thin

FarriersGirl · 07/09/2026 11:08

You lot are a bad influence - I have ordered the Tu kilt in black and orange. I note from comments that it is very long but hoping it will be wearable as a maxi with boots!

Talisin · 10/09/2026 15:46

Got my Tu kilt and cords today and love both. I’m just fractionally under 5’8 and the skirt hits about an inch above the top of my ankle bone which is perfect for me. Just need it to get a bit colder so I can actually wear them now!

Neuronimo · 10/09/2026 16:39

How are you all styling your long kilts? I am thinking of a fairly fitted, black silk and wool cardigan or a cropped cable knit. I also think it might be ok with a charcoal grey merino wool jumper I have. I need a try on.

Silverbirchleaf · 10/09/2026 16:41

I got those lovely M and S burgundy/aubergine wide leg trousers. They’re absolutely gorgeous, and even though they were ‘high rise’, they were not quite right for me, and were a tad short, so reluctantly sent them back. I was in two minds though. I actually looked to see if they did a long version to compare. I would definitely recommend them though, even though they weren’t right for me.

FarriersGirl · 10/09/2026 16:54

I have collected my Tu kilt as well. I'm not as tall as Talisin so it is maxi length on me but workable. I'm thinking chunky dark brown boots with a block heel that I have and I have tried it on with a green cable knit jumper so far which works well. Although the description of the colour on the website is black, it is really very dark brown which is great from my viewpoint.
A real country look which is what I was after.🐎

quirkychick · 10/09/2026 18:29

I saw a woman in a beautiful, ankle-length tartan skirt today, which reminded me of this thread. It was bias cut, blue tartan in quite a thin fabric, but looked perfect for transitional weather.

I got those too but ended up sending them back. Just a bit too much fabric meant it had a saggy crotch area / bagginess.

At least we tried!

I tried some high rise trousers from another shop and had a similar problem. Ie, lots of excess material around the bottom and front area which made them very baggy also.

TragicMuse · 13/09/2026 11:51

I saw the best waterproof of my life yesterday. Barbour have their waxed jackets in a deep aubergine. It’s entirely everything I want.

£299 though so I am not buying it at the moment!

I’m going to keep an eye on sales and offers.

26inprogress · 13/09/2026 15:31

I picked the Sainsbury’s kilt up today and it’s not for me. I look like my nana in it 😳🤭. I’m 5 foot 8 with v long legs and it’s probably shin length on me but just doesn’t suit me at all!!

BangingOn · 13/09/2026 18:46

I went into M&S today, which is unusual for me as I hate in person shopping. It was a huge retail park store but didn’t have much of anything in stock, certainly none of the interesting things I’ve seen online.
