How do you manage bikini line hair without shaving or waxing?

Bit personal I know, but how do you deal with your bikini line?

I get terrible rash and spots if I shave. Can't afford and can't find a waxer I'm comfortable with.

Was thinking about Nair but worry about the chemicals and safety...

Please let me in on your methods!

Ps I know I don't have to, and enjoy the freedom of a full bush but my hair is dark and it goes quite a way over the thigh/inside hip crease and my little one wants to go swimming more so I need a solution!

I’m luckily not that hairy so I just use tweezers for the strays and the main section I trim short so it doesn’t poke out the sides of the bikini.

I was going to get my bikini line lasered but the laser lady said it wasn’t worth the cost for how little there was there 🫤

More like 26 years old! 16 years ago is just when it was uploaded to YouTube!

OMG you are right! Yet, I still think of that sketch pretty much every time anyone mentions bikini line. 😀

I feel old. ☹️

millit · 25/06/2026 22:47

Another laser convert here. Every summer I’d feel so self conscious on the beach or round the pool with ingrown hairs and horrible rashes. I decided this year I’d had enough and I’m so pleased I bit the bullet and did it!

I got this a few days ago. It's fab! Used the trimmer first then went over it with the rotary end. No nicks, spots, irritation at all. I can't use razors as it's so irritating the next few days, can't be bothered with hair removal cream (though I've been using creams for a long time.)

So handy and with it being double ended, best of both worlds. Quite satisfying doing my legs with it too. Will be taking it on holiday with me, no more spider legs creeping out this time! 😁

I use this also. I love it. I even use it on my legs to take most off. I can’t shave often as it causes ingrown hairs and rashes.

SelfCareHan · 26/06/2026 10:59

I used to have the same issue until I switched razors (I tried waxing but couldn't get on with it) - I switched to one from FFS as I saw they'd won which best buy, I haven't had irritation since!! I just make sure to exfoliate beforehand and moistuirse after, seems to do the trick

notasausage · 26/06/2026 11:40

Philips oneblade trimmer - I also get a rash from normal razors but not from this

Appleseason · 26/06/2026 11:41

I bought DIY wax strips from amazon, little beads you melt in a pot.
I like it because i only have to do a tiny bit at a time.
Dd uses veet.

quirkychick · 26/06/2026 11:58

HangingStars · 25/06/2026 06:51

I use veet hair removal cream on the bikini line and then just trim the rest. It’s the only thing that hasn’t given me horrible rash, waxing included! V tempted by a Philips Lumea though!

Workworkwok · 26/06/2026 12:03

Swim shorts. Mine go mid thigh. paired with a tankini top

its not that I never trim/shave but I wanted to be able to swim whether I had or not.

i use an electric shaver. It doesn’t last long but it’s the only thing that doesn’t give me a rash. Ive try everything else except the home laser things.

hippospot · 26/06/2026 12:03

Pluck the few hairs that my swimsuit doesn't cover

Orangemintcream · 26/06/2026 12:06

I found it if I shave regularly I get used to it and no more spots/itching.

Missey85 · 25/06/2026 05:54

😂😂😂😂 or you could let the women decide not everyone wants a bush

You might not want it sticking out of your costume though

SolveMyPrombles · 26/06/2026 12:10

Philips Lumea IPL. I haven't shaved my bikini line since before Covid!

downloadtoad · 26/06/2026 12:13

UpToonGirl · 25/06/2026 06:48

I got the Phillips Lumea a few years ago and it's one of my best purchases. Bikini and leg hair are no more! Armpit also greatly reduced although not totally gone like the other areas.

No prickly regrowth or ingrown hairs - it's not a cheap device but definitely worth it.

Do these only work on really dark hair and light skin though ? That’s what my sil told me. I’m blonde but also fair skinned (pubic hair is like an ash brown 🤣)

19lottie82 · 26/06/2026 12:13

I use a men’s beard trimmer with a guard on the shortest setting. Gets it nice and short without irritating my skin.

Ringosandskinnywhips · 26/06/2026 12:19

Woo Woo hair removal cream is great. Put it on before your shower and remove at the end. Results last about 10 days.

Jk987 · 26/06/2026 12:21

Professional laser treatment. It will change your life!

IndigoBluey · 26/06/2026 12:21

@UpToonGirlis the Lumea painful to use?

fuzzwuss · 26/06/2026 12:29

Lumea and never had an issue again, yes it's expensive, but you probably save in the long run.

NewatthisSingleStuff1 · 26/06/2026 12:35

I know there may be cost issues and it doesn't work on all skin/hair combos, but you can buy the Philips IPL on a sort of hire purchase method directly from them to spread the cost. It is very worth it if you have fair skin and dark hair.

You can overcome this by doing it more frequently. It isn't perfect but if you are a bit more determined then it does work, just takes a bit longer.

40andcounting · 26/06/2026 12:43

I once googled "what the heck do strippers do?" I mean they can't wait until long enough to wax

  1. clean sharp razor
  2. deodorant i use roll on or glycolic acid I do the above for 1 or 2 days and it works. Its the bacteria from sweat that causes a lot of the problem.

Please take it easy. I don't have sensitive skin at all and this was an absolute game changer. Not had a rash since

ByWittyGoose · 26/06/2026 12:51

FruitBadger · 25/06/2026 07:19

This. Hurts a lot the first few times, but grit your teeth and it becomes totally tolerable. Having said that, I only do standard bikini line, nothing more extensive.

I epilate too
You get used to it same as waxing
