How do you manage bikini line hair without shaving or waxing?

Bit personal I know, but how do you deal with your bikini line?

I get terrible rash and spots if I shave. Can't afford and can't find a waxer I'm comfortable with.

Was thinking about Nair but worry about the chemicals and safety...

Please let me in on your methods!

Ps I know I don't have to, and enjoy the freedom of a full bush but my hair is dark and it goes quite a way over the thigh/inside hip crease and my little one wants to go swimming more so I need a solution!

Electric shaver & occasionally a razor. I have an epilator - use when I’m feeling brave! I’m mid 50s & my underarm hair has stopped growing completely so hoping legs/bikini will follow suit!

Veet lady shaver! Changed my life, I have very dark hair and sensitive skin but hate bikini waxes (too painful). Shaves very close but no rash afterwards.

A Philips OneBlade will address your shaving rash. They do one specifically for 'intimate' areas now. I used to use this alone - now I also use a Lumea, which has been remarkably effective.

I have recently discovered that mens razors are so much better than womens, i shave my bikini line and used to always get itchy rash but since using mens razor i don’t get that anymore, i guess because they use them on their face maybe they are designed to be gentler, don’t know why i never thought of it before.

AnotherSofaDay · 25/06/2026 12:51

another vote for Philips Lumea. I used to get horrendous rash from shaving/waxing/epilators and now just no more hair.

If I put on some occlusive cream like Vaseline or one of those barrier type creams for nappy rash immediately after shaving my bikini line I don't get a rash. It has to be immediately after to work. I can't recall where I read it but it does seem to work. I let it sit for a bit before wiping off any excess. If using a razor don't skimp on the blade - no cheap disposable ones.

@Sasha07 That looks great, would you be able to share the link please?

Laser. Life-changing.

FieryA · 25/06/2026 13:55

Superdrug sell their own brand Bikini hair remover and after cream. Works very well, no rash.

Every bikini hair removal option I've tried bar professional waxing has left me with red sore spots.

The other option is cover it:

  • Legsuit.
  • Board shorts over bikini.
  • Bike/workout shorts over bikini. Lululemon do these in 2", 4", and 6" inseam.

Or decide not to care, everyone knows we have pubic hair, it's porn that insists we shouldn't. I don't care.

Bertiebiscuit · 25/06/2026 14:02

Who says?

MiddleAgedDread · 25/06/2026 14:09

plaits

Purpleandping · 25/06/2026 14:14

I when I feel I must, I use Nair without any problems, but I do like swim shorts or a long leg swim suit.

Freyarw · 25/06/2026 14:20

Try these razors from FFS with a body oil instead of shaving cream or foam. It's the only method I've found that lets me shave/wax without getting ingrowns. Other than that, the only way is laser.

Philips Lumea is soooo faffy and time consuming though.

Ohmygawdflippingheck · 25/06/2026 14:26

I usually use an electric razor but there is a good deal on the most basic philips Lumea on amazon at the moment and I have a voucher so I'm probably going to invest in one. I'm as feminist as they come but I don't think I'm brave enough to be spilling out of my swimming costume...

I remind myself that pubic hair is a sign of fertility and that every time women's rights advance the beauty standards become more strict and invasive. Pubic hair has a functional role and if you remove it you will inevitably have issues.

Well my fertility years are behind me and I enjoy mine all off especially for sex. Never had an issue with shaving but might consider at home strips now that they've been mentioned here.

Electric trimmer or veet hair removal cream

BlackCat14 · 25/06/2026 16:10

I use WooWoo hair removal cream, I’ve found it a lot nicer than cheaper supermarket ones. Never had any issues with it.

Missingducks · 25/06/2026 16:15

Frankly mine is so luxuriant I can plait it and tape it to my knees

madaboutpurple · 25/06/2026 16:27

Veet do a spray can hair removal and it seems very useful to me .I use any hair remover cream on my legs but find the spray no trouble to use.

Rowgtfc72 · 25/06/2026 16:49

Epilator. Once you've done it a few times its almost painless.

Loubelou71 · 25/06/2026 17:27

Phillips lumea...changed my life. I wear a bikini with confidence now. I'd recommend to anyone x

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 25/06/2026 19:39

Nothing ever worked for me. I got it lasered off. Best thing I ever got done. Life changing!
