How do you manage bikini line hair without shaving or waxing?

Bit personal I know, but how do you deal with your bikini line?

I get terrible rash and spots if I shave. Can't afford and can't find a waxer I'm comfortable with.

Was thinking about Nair but worry about the chemicals and safety...

Please let me in on your methods!

Ps I know I don't have to, and enjoy the freedom of a full bush but my hair is dark and it goes quite a way over the thigh/inside hip crease and my little one wants to go swimming more so I need a solution!

Veet cream. No problems with it at all.

Swimsuit with longer leg coverage

Laser hair removal was a game changer for me. After several years without bothering to top it up, it's only just starting to grow back a very small amount.

Honeyhonay · 25/06/2026 07:38

If you haven’t tried shaving with a good men’s razor, and oil as the shaving gel then give it a go. And use exfoliating gloves before doing anything. The women’s ones are awful, the handful of times I tried one because I was travelling or just thought I would give it another chance I have always regretted it
If you can get shaving to work it is the most inexpensive and fuss free way to remove hair.

I recently switched from traditional wet shaving to an electric razor. It’s obviously not as close a shave so it’s not as smooth to the feel but it’s still close enough to not be seen at all and the trade off is no ingrown hairs or razor bumps.

I use this razor and it’s very very good. https://amzn.eu/d/0cI7NJLh

Bikini bottoms with a skirt attached! Love it

Another vote for an electric shaver. I couldn’t go near my bikini line with a wet razor but an electric shaver deals with it perfectly well without irritation.

somanychristmaslights · 25/06/2026 07:48

I use at at home laser. It’s brilliant.

PetiteParakeet · 25/06/2026 07:50

Bikini shorts! Got myself a lovely bikini from Regatta, the shorts go down about 2 inches on the outside and an inch on the inside further than basic pants style and I don’t have to worry about shaving any more.
I do have a home laser thing for leg hair which worked pretty well but decided against using it on my bikini line because I’d need to shave each time and it’s too much faff and I hated the regrowth from shaving my bikini line - I usually got a nasty painful spot right where it rubs when walking.

MyDuvetDay · 25/06/2026 07:54

I wear swimsuits that are low cut at the leg or come with boy shorts style bottoms. Any stray pubes that are still visible get a quick razor swipe.

I’ve come to realise that no one is looking at or cares about my upper thighs

Wiennetta · 25/06/2026 08:15

I would 100% recommend Lumea. I use it on underarms, legs and bikini. I now only get the odd hair here and there and just go over with the Lumea every month or so. It’s so nice in the summer not to have to think about shaving etc.

You do have to shave before using it but in my experience the hairs start reducing after one or two goes.

Mmmcheese89 · 25/06/2026 08:44

Electric trimmer. That way you get close though to the skin that it's not visible but not so close to the skin that it causes the red bumps. And it ends up feeling all velvety.

I shave, using a good quality razor, and a body oil, which is a game changer at preventing shaving rash. Almond oil or similar works.

Hair conditioner works well too…I always use it to shave my legs!

StylishAndBeautiful · 25/06/2026 08:53

Trim a lot off with scissors or a trimmer and use an epilator on the bits that would show when wearing skimpy bikini bottoms or knickers.

I remind myself that pubic hair is a sign of fertility and that every time women's rights advance the beauty standards become more strict and invasive. Pubic hair has a functional role and if you remove it you will inevitably have issues.

@FruAashild

NOT RELEVANT!

OP doesn’t want full bush. Her body her choice.

And lets face it, it doesn’t look good if pubes are spilling out of swimming garments… on either men or women.

Tortephant · 25/06/2026 09:05

I use Nair. The normal/thick hair not bikini line one.

ConflictofInterest · 25/06/2026 09:23

I found everything gives me a rash as it's the hair re-growth rather than the removal that causes it for me so waxing/cream wasn't better than shaving. When my DD started baby swimming classes I got some of the thin cycling shorts type swim shorts and a tankini top, I wasn't the only one and felt so comfortable I've never gone back to a normal swimsuit. I swim several times and week and I also never went back to hair removal as once swimming wasn't an issue I just forgot about it with all the other baby things to do. Many women wear shorts now, it doesn't stand out.

Yennefer17 · 25/06/2026 09:25

Swimsuit with shorts 😎

FourSevenFour · 25/06/2026 09:30

Bikini shorts mostly.
Sometimes, decide it doesn't really matter if a bit gets out.

If someone gets horrified, it's their own fault for paying too much attention to my/your bikini lines.

I remind myself that I can choose to do as I please as can you.

I have a full Hollywood with no issues. No one other than my waxer sees what’s in my knickers so I’m not sure that you could tell that I’m ruining years of feminism by having a wax just by looking at me?

My fertile years have been so maybe I’m taking my sign off?

RavenQueen · 25/06/2026 09:34

I have seen a lot of posts recently on something called WooWoo hair removal cream. I've not tried it but it is for intimate areas and meant to be very good.

Ceramiq · 25/06/2026 09:37

Strip wax that you can buy in supermarkets has improved immeasurably in recent years - it's really cheap and easy to use. All hair removal methods that pull hair out at the roots (so waxing, sugaring, electric epilating, tweezing) require users to at least consider regular exfoliation (which most people ought to be doing anyway) and there are now great over the counter chemical exfoliants.

In Mediterranean countries and the Middle East women have sugared their body hair off and exfoliated with black soap and a loofah/pumice (and nowadays a much gentler and more hygienic washable kessa mit) for centuries. The combination of body hair removal and dead skin removal is fantastic for hygiene and prevents ingrown hairs.

Lol. Why the shouting?

It sounds that the OP doesn't mind having a "full bush" most of the time, she is just self conscious about swimwear.

She asked how people deal with this, one poster answered "by accepting it is there". Maybe not the choice the OP will make, but on topic.

Who cares about what doesn't look good to you? It's just a bit of hairs. Most of the time you won't even notice and if you do, your problem, just don't stare at people's bikini line.

Maisey1991 · 25/06/2026 09:40

veet bikini hair removal cream is really good. Leave it for a bit longer than it says in my experience, and sometimes you need to pull the hairs if they’re not coming off with the scraper tool. So sometimes it better to wait til lots a bit longer so you can ge them all this way
