How do you manage bikini line hair without shaving or waxing?

Bit personal I know, but how do you deal with your bikini line?

I get terrible rash and spots if I shave. Can't afford and can't find a waxer I'm comfortable with.

Was thinking about Nair but worry about the chemicals and safety...

Please let me in on your methods!

Ps I know I don't have to, and enjoy the freedom of a full bush but my hair is dark and it goes quite a way over the thigh/inside hip crease and my little one wants to go swimming more so I need a solution!

Yes - I was going to say this! I had mine legs and binkin line (and underarms) professionally lasered 25 years back (when I was in my late 20s) and it was one of the best things I ever did as I was fed up with shaving and waxing just gave me ingrown hairs. The Philips Lumea would've been a cheaper option no doubt, but it wasn't available back then. Needless to say I think I'm going to buy one for my (teenage) DDs this Christmas.

I was previously using hard wax (beads that you melt) but it was frustrating getting the wax at the right temp and I burnt myself a few times.
I have now moved to Nair wax strips and use them on the bikini line and don’t get a rash / bumps. £2 so nice and cheap.
Then I shave the rest at the beginning of the holiday as it doesn’t leave a rash when I shave whilst it’s longer.

I shave in the direction the hair grows otherwise I get red spots within a day or two. I always used swimdresses fir extra coverage just in case I get some nasty spots.

I have pubic hair and am not fertile. Post menopause. Thankfully it is more sparse.
In any case - fertile or not, I don’t want it to be seen when I’m wearing a swimsuit.

I get razor bumps too but Nair gave me chemical burns so I’d not try that! Veet bikini hair remover is not as strong as nair and I’ve been fine using it.

But you have to shave before using the Lumea don’t you?

If anyone is using one of these for the first time or even after a time gap, I’d strongly recommend a patch test on a small concealed area before using it more widely. My sister got folliculitis on using it which ruined a holiday.

i wanna know this too. I am shaved my entire vaginal area for about 25 years and never had a single issue

Philips Lumea - if you’ve got dark hair and pale skin it’s brilliant. Haven’t had to shave my legs for years.

I had this as a child. Sorry you have to experience it too. I had bald patches for years x_x

Ingrowgo is really good for ingrown hairs

I have the razor with the soap built in and it’s much better, no rash

I wear bikini top and swim shorts. Absolute game changer, wouldn’t go back to bikini bottoms now.

Course there are still loads but 10 years ago, every beautician offered it. Now most and I mean MOST (in my town anyway) will do legs, brows, lips etc but exclude intimate waxing. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find one. I always can, they are out there, but I have literally one decent one in my town which exceeds 80,000 and there’s several beauticians in every village and high street.

Have you tried laser, it takes about 8 weeks to start getting good results and will really cut down on the amount of hair that will grow back. If you keep it up would recommend it to those who can commit to it

Yes, I had the same! I didn't react to the patch test but I did after doing the actual treatment. So glad it had time to clear up before we go away otherwise I'd have been fuming. I had to wear trousers for over a week in this heat which was not fun. I'd highly recommend doing a much larger patch test than it says in the instructions. I'm going to give it another go on a lower setting but I'm gutted.

She had to pay for private dermatology appointment and steroid cream prescription and had to cover her legs all holiday.

Folliculitis can turn to septicaemia too. Not fun. Online googling suggested it only happens if you ‘use a dirty razor! - but hers was clean out the packet.
