Any advise on how to look older when I'm in my early 40s ?

That maybe the 1st time someone asked this on here. 🤣 But I fall into the proaging rabit hole. Even my husband wants me to look older as that is what he's into now.

Let me give you some of the stuff I'm working with:
● My natural hair color is dark brown. I'm rocking a pixie cut that's dyed blonde.

● Unless it's a special occasion, I have abandoned dresses, jeans, and skirts. I wear leggings for my fluctuating weight. I were tank tops because of hot flashes, night sweats, and other sweating events.

● Stop wearing makeup.

So ladies, help me age up. 🤣
Obviously not in a ridiculous way as I'm not going to start smoking nor doing hour long tans in the sun. Don't kill me but help me older. Love you guys. 💙

I don’t understand. Why do you want to look older? And what do you mean, that’s what your husband is ‘into’? Is this some kind of fetish? Confused

Ew no. Sorry if I phrased it wrong. He just appreciates how a mature woman looks more than the average guy. Given my local environment, I'm surrounded my men who wants their women looking young.

Your husband is into you looking older? What? Like he has a fetish for older women and you don’t look old enough?

Sorry I didn’t see your reply before I posted this! No advice for looking older though sorry apart from maybe wear more dated clothes!

You can't help what genetics gave you. If genetics has given you a youthful look that's what it's given you.

idontknowhowtodreamyourdreams · 17/01/2026 12:09

Why do you want to look older instead of simply the age and person you are? Genuinely curious. I am all for embracing our faces and bodies as we age, but why would you want to actually look older than you are?

It's cool. I had phrased things horribly.

I dont understand - you can still be a mature, attractive woman and wear jeans and dresses.

What kind of look does your husband find attractive- a blue rinse, tan tights and a tweed skirt? 🤣

Why does any woman want to look younger ?

If wanting to look younger is an okay thing, why not the other way ?

50s, maybe 60s.

Go full 80s. Women in their 20s looked 50 back then. Also cut out lots of sleep and you'll look hagard in no time!

I am truthfully entirely bamboozled by this thread. Utterly lost. You want to look ten to twenty years older because that's what your husband is in to. Wild.

Yes! Check out the hair especially. Those poofy grey sets are so much more aging than a blond pixie cut.

Edited

My whole life used to be about following mainstream Hollywood beauty standards. Being the "prettiest." Then I got mentally devastated when I was aging out of those standards. I guess I'm rebelling against it now.

You need to be more specific. There are loads of great-looking and stylish women who have embraced their age and aren’t fighting it, do you want to look like one of them? Or when you say 50s, 60s, are you imagining a caricature of a pensioner?

To be honest it sounds like you want to dress up as Tootsie.

LovesWatermark · 17/01/2026 12:18

Grow out your hair to a dark bob. Side parted and potentially with a fringe. Have it wavy or straight.

Give up the leggings, or wear a tunic with them instead of a tank top. Buy clothes from grown up shops. If you like a more formal look, that might be somewhere like Coast, or if you like casual, then maybe something like Roman Originals.

Make up. Watch some YouTube tutorials on mature make up looks. Go classic.

Wear discreet jewellery - small plain gold, pearl or crystal/diamond earrings.

I'm choosing to take this all as a real question, just a bit strangely worded, but this is my proper answer to this as an actual question. Good luck with your aging!

It's a fetish.

You're married to a strange man OP. If you're for real.

Disturbia81 · 17/01/2026 12:20

It’s weird, but equally so is trying to look younger. Just embrace the age you are.

I appreciate the advise. I truly apologize for wording it so weirdly. Everything I post written something the internet, I end up having regrets on how I phrased this. I'm not good at expressing myself using the written word.
