Any advise on how to look older when I'm in my early 40s ?

That maybe the 1st time someone asked this on here. 🤣 But I fall into the proaging rabit hole. Even my husband wants me to look older as that is what he's into now.

Let me give you some of the stuff I'm working with:
● My natural hair color is dark brown. I'm rocking a pixie cut that's dyed blonde.

● Unless it's a special occasion, I have abandoned dresses, jeans, and skirts. I wear leggings for my fluctuating weight. I were tank tops because of hot flashes, night sweats, and other sweating events.

● Stop wearing makeup.

So ladies, help me age up. 🤣
Obviously not in a ridiculous way as I'm not going to start smoking nor doing hour long tans in the sun. Don't kill me but help me older. Love you guys. 💙

Instead of overthinking just wear what you want to wear and wear the make up you enjoy wearing. Also don’t dress for your husband, dress for yourself.

No not half my age lol.

People assume I am early 20s when I wear the clothes that I prefer.

When I wear M&S etc clothes people say I look mid 20s.

I definitely think clothing makes a big difference but not twice your age different.

How old are you?

Honestly OP if you're not a man with a bizarre fetish then you really, really need to work on being clearer about what the issue actually is. Your posts don't strike me as genuine, they strike me as a man with a fetish for chin hair spaffing all over a majority female-forum to get your rocks off with the help of well-intentioned, oblivious women. None of your posts make sense if that's not the case.

I think that many of us who were not very attractive when we were young cannot feel the same as you. That doesn’t mean we cannot try to empathise. It is a good example of when something that others would see as an advantage, beauty and sexiness, can be a disadvantage. Either because you had this advantage or for cultural reasons you have come to let this define you, to value yourself for this and it’s/your attractiveness to men and not to have developed a broader belief in yourself.
I came from the opposite perspective, not attractive, generally with low self esteem and too bothered about what others thought. In my twenties I tried to conform to the norms, in my thirties I wore practical mum clothes, in my forties I worked out what styles worked on my body. In my fifties I added to that my own colour choices and developed a ‘style’. And learned to care less about what others thought.
Some great advice on here about where to look to see how different women style themselves to see what appeals to you. I would add in getting to a shopping centre where you can look and see what you like, where you can try things on. Try on anything you love, try on colours that speak to you.
This isn’t an overnight makeover, it is a progression.

Nobody is looking at you. Don’t wast your time.

Just wear a blue wig and granny glasses in the bedroom if that’s what he is into.

🤣

There is my husband and there are other men who like older women. I can be a goddess again. Instead of impressing men looking for the youthful and conventional beauty, impress the men who are looking for something else.

It sounds really sad saying it like that.

men don't care where they stick it.

Jsut dress how you want - fuck what other people want

My husband and I are the same age but he looks way younger than me.

Well from that reply, none of your want to look older makes sense. I can't understand any man that would want to age their partner unless he wants a mother figure for a partner.

HelenHywater · 21/01/2026 16:01

So you're not really asking how to look older, you're asking how to accept that you're getting older?

I don't think the answer is to get a bob and start wearing elasticated trousers. Isn't it all internal? You can still have pixie crop and accept getting older?

Why are you obsessed with chin hair and aging?
It’s really weird.
